A Mother’s Love Is Unmatched DEBORAH RISPER Circa September 11, 1999, I became a Mom for the first time. To put it in a better perspective I was a Mom at the tender age of 15. Yup, a baby raising a baby is what most would call it. I believe that Romans 28:8 has been and ALWAYS be my portion when I stepped into this Motherhood role. This role as many would attest is one with no formal training and no manual to pull out. It boils down to the Motherly love you have for your children. I am the Mother of 4. Their ages are 21,16,12,10. They are affectionately known as the “Fantastic 4.” If you know a little about the comic characters known as the Fantastic 4, you’d know that each of them has different personalities. Each of my children has taught me valuable lessons in life that I’ll forever be grateful for. Their presence alone can make a dark day turn into light for me. I’m in awe that God allowed me to be their Mom on this side of heaven. My prayer is that sharing a small piece of them with the world will allow them to shine brighter as well as make an impact wherever this story may be read.

Meet Decarah Affectionately known as “Beau.” She is the oldest of the crew and the one who stands up for what she believes in, even if that means turning away from the crowd. I am amazed at the level of independent thinking that allows her to see the world freely. She is truly a world traveler at 21. She has spent her last 4 years studying to be a child psychologist and will soon move on to grad school. I can tell you, the girl keeps a bag packed! Decarah has taught me unconditional love and how to see things from a different light. She came into my life when I felt I didn’t want to live and saved my life. From that moment on I knew I had to live for her. I am thankful even now that not only do I hold her responsible, but she also does the same for me. To my Beau, thank you for my reason. Thank you for loving your young Mommie through the mistakes. Thanks for seeing me as perfectly, imperfect! I love you!
Meet Martreon Martreon is my determinator. Before he could fully walk, he developed a sense of determination to get to where he wanted to go. Be it fast crawling, he got there. By the time he started walking, he ran! We could not put him down because he would take off without hesitation. I never realized that at the tender age of 2 he was showing me who he was. He is the one who has a drive and a desire to succeed. He is serious about his academic & sports success. Martreon has created a positive character for himself that I couldn’t be more proud of. His hunger & commitment for greater is the fuel to my fire. Martreon has taught me to stick it out. When we moved to a new state not knowing a soul, he stuck it out and finally I believe he can call Arizona home. Son son, my love for you will forever run deep.

Anytime I want to give up, I will always remember your hunger and determination to continue on my path for success. I love you!
Meet Marreon They say three is a charm and I can tell you this one has pierced my heart BIG time. Marreon brings a different beat to the Risper family. He has a carefree, soft, calming, and charming characteristic. Though he is the one with few words when he speaks it means something. Marreon is always the one I have to push to see the inner hero because I think he knows his impact is far more powerful than what he wants to admit. Marreon is the one who teaches me patience. Though some days I feel like I don’t have them, he reminds me to take my time and move carefree. I cannot tell God Thank You for Marreon’s balancing. Marreon, Momma is so Grateful to have you as an early birthday gift. Your calming spirit is everything to me. I love you!
Meet Maliyah Maliyah is the boss baby of the bunch. She is truly my mini-me. Maliyah does not take any mess and stands up also for what she believes in. She is an entrepreneur by heart and her charm and wit can sweep you off your feet. She is a fighter for sure and she can overcome anything. Maliyah teaches me who to remain the boss at all times. Her fighting spirit tells me no matter how rough it gets, you have to fight in you. I’m so glad God graced me with my “oops baby.” Maliyah Mommie love her some, you boss baby. Every time I want to give up I hear your sass saying “uhn, uhn.” I thank you for being my shadow and assistant at many business events. I love you!

A Lupus Warrior ANISE HOWARD.
May is Lupus Awareness Month amongst many awareness recognitions. Lupus affects over 5 million people worldwide. This disease mostly affects women. While there is no cure for this auto-immune disease, research has turned to improve the quality of living for those who live with this disease. W.O.E magazine wants to take this moment to salute all Lupus Warriors across the world. Your strength, courage, and fight to live through pain are unique in their own way.
Anise: It started off as mild joint pain. My Mom got sick and diagnosed with cancer that caused me so much stress in which they stated increase lupus. My kidneys are attacked the worst and are completely shut down. I am so much more aware as well as my family. We now understand the importance of each doctor.
For this month W.O.E. also has the opportunity to speak with a Lupus Warrior. A Warrior, whom I’ve known for over 18yrs. Interestingly, our school mascot was a Warrior and we ALWAYS greet each other as such but never did I imagine she’d be a Warrior beyond what we knew as a mascot. I am proud to call her a classmate but even more proud to call her a true Lupus Warrior.
Anise: I now go bike riding daily with my daughters along with dancing, jogging.
World meet Anise Howard. Anise is a Believer, Wife & Mother to 3 AMAZING children. Anise’s soft-spoken voice is sweet, charming & filled with wisdom. Anise dedicates

her time to her family and friends who are her greatest supporters in her darkest moments. I had the pleasure to walk through a split moment of her diagnosis along with sharing her everyday journey as a Lupus Warrior. My prayer and hope are after reading Anise’s story, we gain a better understanding of Lupus, how it changes their lives daily and what we can do to support their journey as family/friends. W.O.E: Tell me about the diagnosis process Anise: I was diagnosed in 2002 while pregnant with my son. I thought it was just usual pregnancy pains. My protein was the highest it had ever been in my urine. I went through so many tests to figure out my diagnosis. When I was diagnosed I wanted to learn more. W.O.E: How did that change your family’s life?
WOMEN OF EXCELLENCE
W.O.E: Despite Lupus what activities do you still enjoy?
W.O.E: Do you have a support group that you use for support? Anise: My doctors have recommended groups. I usually just stick with my family & friends for my support.
Anise: The funny thing is my doctors told me that Lupus will play a major part. I finally understand now that it truly does. I have days where I feel depressed, shut down, and just not wanting to do anything at all. There are days I don’t even want to get out of bed. I wake up every day in pain. It’s tedious to explain to people my pain and being in a constant battle every day. W.O.E: What advice would you give someone who is new to this disease? Anise: I would say learn more about the disease. Look at your family member as a person and not pity them. Even though we don’t show we are in pain, we are constantly in pain. I would also say find a support group that will help you stay encouraged. Anise, W.O.E magazine appreciates you for being transparent. We, again, admire your strength & courage to continue fighting the good fight. We salute you, Warrior!

Mental Health Awareness NYLA WRIGHT May 2021 Article May is the month that we observe Mental Health Awareness. Many people are not even aware that their loved ones or they suffer from mental health disorders. The goal is to raise awareness of trauma and the impact it can have on the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of men,

women, children, families, and communities. The essential key to awareness is having knowledge or a better perception of facts. I grew up on the south side of Chicago, in a predominately African American community. I encountered many people in

the community that suffered from mental health disorders. As a child I always wondered what happened to them, were they born that way, or what happened in their lives that brought on this behavior. I really didn’t know at the time that they were suffering from various types of mental health disorders. The two most common mental health disorders in the African American population are anxiety and depression. African Americans have been subjected to many factors that contribute to their mental health disorders. African American communities lack access to appropriate and culturally responsive mental health care, prejudice, and racism inherent in the daily environment. Their mental health needs are often exacerbated and mostly unfulfilled. These issues in the African American community and where I grew up are the reasons why families don’t seek or get help. Another huge factor in why African American communities don’t seek help is the stigma against mental health disorders. Today we can learn from research and education how to break those stigmas against mental health disorders and live a purposeful life while dealing with mental health disorders.

Athlete Of The Month-Courtney DEUCE PALMER JR I am Courtney “Deuce” Palmer Jr. I’ve been playing sports since I was 3 years old. I’ve played basketball, t-ball, soccer, ran track, and football. Basketball has always been my favorite of them all with football being a strong second. I run point in basketball and I’m a QB in football. These positions have similarities being that I’m the main ball handler and distributor which come with accountability. Each sport has taught me some life experiences. As an athlete sports gave me an opportunity to clear my mind and build my character to this day. I have always loved to play sport and be active. Basketball is the sport I’ve played consistently and always has been my first choice. Playing basketball has taught me to work hard. I was never the best player in my age group but far from the worst which has caused a lot of people doubt my skills and abilities even today. There have been times that I didn’t make the team or varsity. I learned that if you want something you got to go get it, nothing is ever handed to you. So I work harder and push myself beyond what I’ve thought were my limits.
Playing any sport you have to be a team player. Developing a brotherhood with your teammates is essential to winning and growing as a team. This year both my high school basketball and football teams lost our championship games. Experiencing this made me want to work hard over the summer to get ready for next year.
Overall, sports has helped build my character, taught me that working hard pays off, and there’s no “I” in TEAM! I am grateful for my talents and skills. Always working hard to play harder and strive for greatness. I appreciate my Dad and coaches who have put a lot of time into my craft and building me as a person. I am Deuce.

Pastoring Outside The Pulpit PASTOR ERYK HOOD My name is Eryk Hood, Pastor of Full Impact Ministries. My ministry is on social media, mainly Facebook live at [FULL Impact Ministries]. My YouTube channel is [Pastor Eryk Hood] where I have over 400 powerful messages about God’s true nature towards us. I had a church building on the Westside of Chicago five years ago. Although it went ok, I never felt in my spirit that this was it. I honestly believe that the real power of God moves predominantly outside of the church walls.
where most of the members are indoctrinated with the religious compromising doctrine where they are taught that as long as they come to church and give their tithes and offerings to the church, everything is ok, because after all, God loves you anyway.
Scripture quotes it like this in 2 Timothy 4:2-5 AMPLIFIED VERSION: 2. Herald and preach the Word! Keep your sense of urgency [stand by, be at hand and ready], whether the opportunity I believe that the religious stunts, gimmicks, seems to be favorable or unfavorable. helpless, weak, powerless, and sinful emotions of the people. And by the pastors no longer looking at the people’s souls but are now looking at their pocketbooks and bank accounts, the people now have the power through money to control what comes across the pulpit because the pastor is being controlled through their deep love for ungodly financial gain. Scripture quotes it like this in 1 Timothy 6:10 AMPLIFIED VERSION: 10. For the love of money is the root of all evils; it is through this craving that some have been led astray and have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves through with many acute [mental] pangs. As a result of this satanic adjustment, Satan has full reign in the pastor’s soul to manipulate the scriptures to keep the people from ever getting free from his [Satan’s] demonic traps. But on the flip side of that coin is pastoring outside of the pulpit brings about angelical covering to whereas no type of bribe can penetrate the soul of the one whose soul is surrendered to bringing glory to the Father. You see people, God and Satan both use the same weaponry to advance their kingdoms, [THE PULPIT AND THE WORD OF GOD]. God uses the pulpit and the Word of God to reveal His goodness to the people by bringing strong powerful conviction to our hearts through anointed teaching and preaching of knowing that He forgave us even while we were not even thinking about Him at all. While Satan uses the pulpit and the Word of God to pervert the true intentions of God. The word pervert means to go

the opposite direction of its original intentions, so Satan has flipped the structure of the church into advancing his kingdom by having ungodly tactics to be performed inside the church walls that will keep people from entering God’s true nature towards them. The true nature of God is not received in church buildings because for the most part, it’s where Satan has planted his domain. But the power of God and His true nature toward people is strongly revealed through the preaching and teaching outside of the pulpit. People fake being healed and delivered in church buildings because it is Satan’s tool to keep the people in generational deception and generational bondage. Until those Satanic stunts are out of the church building, the people will always struggle in every area of their lives. Scripture describes it like this in Matthew 21:12-14, 12. And went into the temple of God and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves. 13. And said unto them, [It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves]. 14. And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them. So now we can scripturally see why many people in the body of Christ are blind in seeing God’s true nature toward them which leads them into trying to earn His love toward them, which puts them in a works mentality, which blocks them from walking in God’s grace. And we can scripturally
W.O.E

see why many people in the body of Christ are lame in their walk as far as their Christian lifestyle of power, authority and victory, and as a result, this is why many Christians are saved, broke, struggling, sick, and stuck. Pastoring outside of the pulpit is the real foundation of faith toward God and it is the real fruit of intimacy toward people to whereas the power to open blind eyes from ignorance and the power to teach the Gospel truth to straighten their lame walk is in abundance. I have learned that, if God can get it through you, He will most definitely get it to you. God’s heart is all about people and their souls and when He encounters people whose hearts are of the same like spirits, there is a real powerhouse team that is manifested to bring Him all the glory. Pastoring outside of the pulpit is where truth confronts truth because those are not members who are sucking up to the pastor for brownie points, nor will they be deceived into giving the pastor their hard-earned money. Pastoring outside of the pulpit is where the pastor really must trust God with everything because he is really going out as a lamb among wolves. I believe that there is an anointing outside of the pulpit that only manifests when the heart of that person is really sold out and truly surrendered to the calling that God has ordained for them, not what man has ordained for them. The repetitive church theatrics are Satan’s greatest tools that he uses to keep the church people in bondage and not only deception but self-deception as well. I honestly believe that God is using these times that we are in, to birth the real ministry of His Kingdom. He is revealing through real intimate teaching and preaching, that the way church was done before the pandemic was not His nature at all, and He is beginning to show His true nature toward people in this pandemic of how awesome and vital His love and guidance is. God loves us with an everlasting love, and He does not want us to be ignorant of who He is. God has a powerful desire to be with us, and He longs for us to come into relationship with Him. He wants to enjoy our lives with us, and He wants us to receive Him not just as God, but mainly as our Father. This powerful intimate revelation of Him being our Father is now being powerfully manifested in the anointed teaching and preaching of [PASTORING OUTSIDE OF THE PULPIT]. Yours Truly, Pastor Eryk Hood

Courageous Living Awaits You MIGNON THOMAS Who’s that Girl? It’s Mignon Thomas! Mignon is the Owner and CEO of Courageous Coaching MT and is better known as Coach MT, the Mental Health and Life Coach. After serving her community as a mental health nurse for ten (10) years, Migon finally discovered her purpose in life. After Mignon tragically lost her father to a downhill battle with dementia, she found herself in a mental health crisis. This unpleasant series of events lead to her enrolling in a coaching program. At that time, she had no interest to become a coach by trade. Mignon just wanted to regain control of her life. Therapy, medications, and faith alone were not enough. During her intensive work at the Health Coach Institute; Coach MT was born. At that time, Coach MT realized she had been assigned to help others achieve balance and control, that mental health illness stole… most importantly, their “JOY.” Coach MT strives every day to assist women like herself, to shine light along the dark path, that suffering from mental illness can create. Coach MT would often say “Courageous Living awaits” as such, Mignon desires to soon transition from corporate America so that she can spend more time with her family, her Lord, and herself. Today, Mignon leaves these three tips with you to protect yourself from mental illness: 1.
Find affirmations and scriptures to help you throughout your day, to get the motivation to stay the course. Write it down and surround yourself with it.
2.
If you believe something, you would act upon it. Following your daily affirmations, must be your belief that it is true then your actions to confirm it.
3.
Cancel those limiting beliefs. Get rid of those people who say “You can’t do something”, “You’re not worthy of something”, “Nobody would listen to you”, “You can’t do it because your parents couldn’t do it”
Your mental health is of equal importance as with your physical health. If you are in need of someone to listen to you and to help you quell the noise in your head, please do not hesitate to schedule a free Power Session with Mignon today!

Celebrating My Fellow Xquizitely Flawed Melanin’ Moms NYOKI LEWIS HUNT Celebrating My Fellow Xquizitely Flawed Melanin’ Moms It is the month that we celebrate Mothers and not only am I blessed and proud to be celebrated but I am also honored, proud, and x’cited to celebrate each of you! It’s the gift God gives, that truly keeps on giving and the only thing I would change if I could turn back time would be taking more time to cherish the moments even when life was tough. I felt the need to take time to remind you of the importance of self-care, by way of, being mindful of speaking to yourself the way you speak to others. What do I mean by that? I’m so glad that you asked! Too often we are second-guessing or beating ourselves up because of what we •
did or said wrong
•
what we didn’t do enough of or in time
•
what we think we should have done differently or better
•
and I can’t forget the emotions that try to drown us when disappointment hits our kids
The reality is we make decisions at the moment with the best intentions at heart, based on the knowledge that we have at the present time. In no way shape, form, or fashion should you be beating yourself up once you learn something new at a later date! That stops this month, today as you’re reading this!
W.O.E
It’s essential to realize your self-care is more than a Mani/Pedi, facial/massage, brunch with the besties, and meditation! It also includes •
recognizing that no is a complete sentence without feeling guilty
•
recognizing that the first person that has to be understanding when they talk to you is you
•
and actually implementing that same energy for yourself that you use with those you love.
This month be intentional and stern yet gentle when administering tough love on yourself. We are all #XquizitelyFlawed. It’s important that you embrace the flaws of your motherhood journey and believe God every time he reminds you of how dope of a Mom you are! When we were given this gift it didn’t come with a written manual, YouTube tutorial, or masterclass but please believe; he trusts that you are doing your very best! I’m rooting for you and wishing you the Mother’s Day of your most intimate dreams; you know the one where you want to wake up in Bali and have Brunch and Bellinis while floating on clear blue waters. Ok maybe that’s MY dream LOL but you get my drift! This month especially, I celebrate you, Happy Mother’s Day & I also want to send a very special Mother’s Day wish to my mother, sister, and niece #muah

South Africa Broken and unequal education perpetuating poverty and inequalit. The South African education system, characterized by crumbling infrastructure, overcrowded classrooms, and relatively poor educational outcomes, is perpetuating inequality and as a result failing too many of its children, with the poor hardest hit according to a new report published by Amnesty International today. I have had the honor of teaching inside of this broken system. Parents have to choose between a loaf of bread or $2.50 to send my child to school. NO PUBLIC EDUCATION. Children in the lowest income groups are also more likely to walk to school. More learners walk to school than in any other province, more than 210,000 pupils walk for more than an hour each way, and 659,000 walks for between 30 minutes and an hour each way. When they do get to school, students are often being taught in overcrowded classes teacher to student ratio of 1:35 impacting on their ability to learn effectively.
