AROUND THE TOWN CLUB We're back! It's time for us to go back in the community. Join us for a night on the town! This social club utilizes community activities which are selected by the group to improve socialization, leisure awareness and independent living skills. Try new things and explore your community with the support and encouragement of friendly, knowledgeable staff. The first night of program will be held at the Camden Community Center. Location thereafter varies based on participants chosen activities. Members must be able to participate within a 1:6 staff to participant ratio and be independent with their personal care needs. Please note: registration fee covers staffing costs only. Additional fees may be required based on chosen activities. Masks will be strongly recommended when at the community center. AUGUST MONTHLY SOCIAL- END OF SUMMER BBQ Come join us at Mayfair Community Center for an end of summer BBQ. Play some games with us and have some great BBQ. Hamburgers, salad, fruit and chips will be served unless we come up with a surprise dessert too! We might have to break out our ice cream maker again! Course

Come join us at Mayfair Community Center for a movie on the big screen and hot dogs. We will be watching a baseball themed movie on the patio. Bring a folding chair if you'd like. HIRLN- PIZZA AND A MOVIE OUTING HIRLN is the Head Injury Recreation and Leisure Network. We meet once a month for a community based recreation experience. This month we will be meeting at Luigi's pizza in Campbell and then heading to the Cinelux movie theaters for a movie. Participants must be able to participate in a 1:8 client to participant ratio and be able to attend to their own personal care needs (toileting and feeding) or have an attendant with them. Attendant will need to register for the program as well or buy their own movie ticket. Course

HIRLN- LIVE MUSIC @ POOR HOUSE BISTRO

Head Injury Recreation and Leisure Network is a social club for survivors of head injuries and strokes. Join us at Poor House Bistro for some live music. We will sit out on the patio and enjoy the music with our friends. The registration fee for this event covers part of the staffing cost, food is not included. If you would like to try the New Orleans style food please bring money with you. Most dishes are $10-15 so we suggest bringing at least $20 to cover tax and tip. The menu can be found at poorhousebistro.com/menu. Participants must be able to function in a 1 to 8 ratio and be independent with personal care needs or bring an attendant with them. Attendant does not have to register for this event, but please let us know if they need a seat saved for them. Attendant will need to buy their own meal. SUMMER CLASSES

VIRTUAL

VIRTUAL SIMPLY COOKING

Join us for a FUN and FREE VIRTUAL cooking class while we learn to cook different recipes and engage in a social setting. We will learn basic cooking skills that includes food preparation, grocery shopping, kitchen and food safety rules, following instructions, measurements, kitchen equipment, and more. This class is for participants with disabilities ages 16+ and may require some assistance while cooking at home. Participants will receive menus with Zoom link over email and we will all cook together over Zoom. *This virtual program is scheduled for one hour but sometimes it may run longer than an hour. Time

SUMMER CAMPS DIABETES DAY CAMP This collaborative day camp program is provided by the City of San Jose's Therapeutic Services and California Diabetes Association. There will be fun activities, outings, games, crafts, and diabetes education. Nursing staff will be on site to help monitor blood sugars and provide education to participants and families. Scholarships Available The City of San Jose offers activity scholarships for children, seniors, and adults with disabilities who qualify. Scholarships will cover 50-70% of the class cost. Fill out the scholarship form and bring the necessary documents to any City of San Jose community center.

Camp Superstuff- Asthma Camp

This collaborative day camp program is provided by the City of San Jose's Therapeutic Services and Breathe California. There will be fun activities, outings, games, crafts, and asthma education. This camp is currently being planned as a hybrid with some online and some in-person time. This is subject to change. SUMMER CAMPS PLAYCAMP Every kid wants to play! These day camps are designed for children with cognitive disabilities who need a higher level of staff assistance for participation, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Activities include arts and crafts, group games, circle time, a field trip, and more. Children should bring a sack lunch to camp each day. Participants must be able to function in a 1:3 staff to participant ratio and be independent with personal care needs or bring an attendant with them. TEENS TOGETHER (Inclusion) Everyone loves camp! Be social, make some friends, learn some new skills. This camp for teens with disabilities and their non-disabled siblings and friends will provide a safe and structured opportunity to be a teen.
