PROGRAMS FOR THE LITTLE HANDS Baby & Me Art Class You may not know it, but you may have the next Oscar-Claude Monet. Come and learn what your li le what your li le one create. Beast of all you can do it together and make a different guided project each week. A parent and child hands on art class. Time for both child and parent to get a li le dirty and explore art projects together. Busy Bees Buzz Buzz! If you are looking for a program for your 2 to 3 years old we have a pro-

gram for you. This is program that is been designed to meet that social, cogni ve and recrea onal needs of the youngest member of our community. Ac vi es include: social play, art, story telling, singing, and group games. Parent must a end with registered child for first class then we will work on leaving your child for an hour.

Language Art Is a program for 2.5 to 5 years old that we will teach your child two languages: Sign Language and

Spanish. Children will discover art through those languages. Provide your child with means for ar s c expression in the visual arts and learn two languages. Child must be fully po y trained. Story me Art-Ventures Is a program that pair a book with an art project for 3 to 5 years old. We will read story or sing a song, and create a cra project to take home. PRESCHOOLS Li le Learners for 3—4 years old Children will be introduced to socializa on, posi-

ve self-esteem, following direc ons and simple learning concepts. Children will work on hand eye coordina on, motor skills, and gain independence through the use of circle me, music, songs, stories, play, and arts and cra s. Food will be provided for cooking acvi es and may be provided for special events. Children must be fully po y trained before the start of class. Requirements for parent a endance, volunteers, snacks, etc. varies by center.

Kinder Prep for 4 –5 years old This class prepares your child for kindergarten with ageappropriate ac vi es, learning concepts, socializa on skills and fun. Your child will gain a basic understanding of shapes, colors and pre-phonics and literacy building (i.e. iden fying le er sounds, and wri ng the alphabet and simple words), as well as number recogni on, and coun ng up to 30. The goal is to have fun, par cipate and learn. Children must be fully po y trained before the start of class. Requirements for parent a endance, volunteers, snacks, etc. varies by center.

When signing up for all three sessions, your ini al payment of $75 on each session. Therea er, the card on file will be charged the 20th of each month star ng 8/20/18 in the amount of $270 (MWF) or $172 (T/TH). DANCE CLASSES Tap & Ballet Have your dance plié and glissade into class! This Ballet/Tap

class will introduce dancers to basic movements and teach children to use their body as a rhythmic instrument. All dancers will show off their intricate rou nes for parents at a final class produc on. Tap shoes are op onal. Children can wear comfortable clothing. Parents are allowed to stay for the first ten minutes of the first class and are encouraged to a end the last class for a great recital. SPORTS & FITNESS Cheerleading Go Team! Students will learn arm mo ons, jumps, dance, pom pom and cheer rou nes. Parents are allowed to stay for the first ten minutes of the first class and are encouraged to a end the last class for a great recital.

Parent & Me Basketball This parent-child class develops motor skills and coordina on per nent to the game of basketball. Repe on permits children to build their confidence and esteem. Ac vies include organized games that help children to develop skills and learn to follow direc ons.

First Shots Basketball Discover the fundamentals of basketball in a fun recrea onal environment. Preschool class include age appropriate ac vi es and emphasize basketball skills such as hoo ng, dribbling, and passing. Fun games will be played in each class, please be sure your child wars proper sport clothes and shoes (no boots or open toes shoes) and bring a water bo le, seasonal fruit to be eaten a the end of the class, and a small towel.

MUSIC CLASSES Guitar-Beginner Level 1 or Level 1A Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen all started here at the beginning. Here is Guitar Beginner that the primary focus is learning the guitar basics. Material covered will included: reading chord diagrams; chords charts; charts; and playing scales and melodies. Come aspire to greatness with us! No experience necessary! Bring your own pick! Guitar-Beginner Level 1B If your child has taken Guitar Beginner Level 1 or 1A class

but is not quite ready yet for Guitar 2 but would like to take another beginner class without star ng from the beginning, that’s why we made Guitar Beginner Level 1B class for your child. Material covered will included: reading chord diagrams; chords charts; charts; and playing scales and melodies. Guitar-Beginner Level 1 or Level 1A experience required.

Guitar-Beginner Level 2 You or Your child will learn more chords ge ng you ready for intermediate class.

Guitar-Intermediate Whether you’re aspiring to be the next Carlos Santana or Jimi Hendrix, come and pro-

gress your aspira ons to greatness with Guitar Intermediate. Experienced guitar players will learn to sight read and perform work from work a variety of periods and composers in duets, trios or quartets. Designed for connuing/experienced students. Must have taken Beginner Level 2. Bring your own guitar/pick to class.

Piano Beethoven Beginners Come learn piano with Beethoven Bear and

Mozart Mouse! Students will learn music theory and piano basics in a fun and posi ve environment. Access to piano/keyboard at home is essen al. Parent or guardian must a end with child.

Piano Keyboard-Beginner Level 1 Piano classes for both children and

Adults. Discover the key to your child’s future success. Studies show that children who are introduced to music have an IQ jump of 3 points in the first six months! Learning to play the piano is a great way to introduce yourself or your child to world of music. Class starts with the basic piano skills and music reading. Giving you or your child the opportunity to take piano lessons allows them to learn and share a much cherished talent. Keyboards and materials are provided. Bring a set of headphones with a ¼” adapter for use in class.

Piano Keyboard-Beginner Level 2 A con nua on class for students who have completed our beginners level 1 class. Students will be instructed on good prac ce skills, note reading, rhythm, theory, technique, and performance. Access to piano/keyboard at home is essen al for progress. Bring a set of headphones with a ¼” adapter for use in class. Piano Keyboard-Intermediate This course is for those who have taken Piano Level 1 or Level 2. This course is designed to help your child develop comprehensive prac ce strategies as well as how to develop their dexterity and playing abili es. Future Rockstars 101 Drums Do you or your have too much cool to contain? Our Future Rockstars –Drum will teach your future celebrity drum beats, music notes and develop coordina on and rhythm, while having fun in a safe, learning environment and take you or your child’s drumming to a different level and Rock Out.

ACTIVE ADULTS (50+) Chinese Choir: Come and join the Chinese Choir which involves the prac cing of songs in English and Chinese. The choir also provides its members with a sense of community and friendship. It is important for one’s quality of life to have a feeling of belonging with other people. Singing also is physically relaxing, helps to relieve tension in the body, reduces stress and gives a feeling on well-being, and helps to keep its members mentally and physically ac ve.

Chinese Folk Dance:

It is never too late to learn Chinese Folk Dance. This group is led by an experienced professional volunteer instructor. You will learn various Chinese Folk Dances and have opportuni es to perform in community centers. Anyone can join regardless of your dance experience. Get in shape while learning about Chinese culture & making new friends.

Chinese Karaoke: Be a star and sing your heart out! You don’t have to sing, par cipants are welcome to come and listen. Karaoke singers must provide their own Karaoke CD’s. The center provides the sound system and Microphone. Beginners are welcome! Line Dancing: Come find out how much fun it is to Line Dance. Lessons are easy and provide great exercise. You do not need a partner or any experience to dance. You will learn classic and popular line dances. Dance shoes needed. Ping Pong: Table tennis is the most popular racket sport in the world! Teacher to child ratio is 1:10 or better. Participants must be toilet trained by irst day of program. Non-registered children are not allowed in the class at any time. Please make arrangements for siblings on your participation day.

A birth certi icate may be requested for age con irmations. The City of San José , Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services provide recreational programs ONLY and not licensed childcare.

After reaching the class capacity your child can be put on a waitlist. If a spot becomes available at any SJ Recreation Preschool center, you will receive a call and be given the option to enroll at that center or to stay on the waiting list. Monthly payment plan is available, with auto-pay on the 20th of each month. A valid credit card must be on ile for auto-pay option. (Kinder Prep & Little Learners only)
