4 | PRESCHOOL Little Learners Children will be introduced

to socialization, positive self-esteem, following directions and simple learning concepts. Children will work on hand eye coordination, motor skills, and gain independence through the use of circle time, music, songs, stories, play and arts and crafts. Food will be provided for cooking activities and may be provided for special events. Children must be fully potty trained before the start of class. Requirements for parent attendance, volunteers, snacks, etc. varies by center.

Kinder Prep

No class for either class on the following dates:

This class prepares your child for kindergarten with age-appropriate activities, learning concepts, socialization skills and fun. Your child will gain a basic understanding of shapes, colors and pre-phonics and literacy building (i.e. identifying letter sounds, and writing the alphabet and simple words), as well as number recognition, and counting up to 30. The goal is to have fun, participate and learn. Children must be fully potty trained before the start of class. Requirements for parent attendance, volunteers, snacks, etc. varies by center.

PROGRAMS FOR LITTLE HANDS | 5 Baby & Me Art Class You may not know it, but

you may have the next Oscar-Claude Monet. Come and learn what your little one can create. Best of all you can do it together and make a different guided project each week. A parent and child hands on art class. Time for both child and parent to get a little dirty and explore art projects together.

Busy Bees Buzz Buzz! If you are looking for

a program for your 2 to 3 years old we have a program for you. This is program that is been designed to meet that social, cognitive and recreational needs of the youngest member of our community. Activities include: social play, art, story telling, singing, and group games. Parent must a end with registered child for first class then we will work on leaving your child for an hour.

Parents & Me Basketball

This parent-child class develops motor skills and coordination pertinent to the game of basketball. Repetition permits children to build their confidence and esteem. Activities include organized games that help children to develop skills and learn to follow directions. NO CLASS ON SATURDAY, OCT. 7

First Shots Basketball Discover the fundamentals of basketball in a fun

recreational environment. Preschool class include age appropriate activities and emphasize basketball skills such as shooting, dribbling, and passing. Fun games will be played in each class, please be sure your child wears proper sport clothes and shoes (no boots or open toed shoes) and bring a water bottle, seasonal fruit to be eaten at the end of the class, and a small towel. MUSIC CLASSES | 7 Guitar– Beginner Level 1 Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix, and Eddie Van Halen all started here, at the beginning. Here is Guitar Beginner, the primary focus is learning the guitar basics. Material covered will include reading chord diagrams, chord charts, charts, and playing scales and melodies. Come aspire to greatness with us! No experience necessary! Bring your own pick! Guitar– Beginner Level 2 Beginner Level 2 you will learn more chords ge ng you ready for intermediate class. Material covered will include reading chord diagrams, chord charts, charts, playing scales, melodies, and simple composers to play in a duets. Must have taken Beginner Level 1. Bring your own pick! Guitar– Intermediate Whether your aspiring to be the next Carlos Santana or Jimi Hendrix, come and progress your aspira ons to greatness with Guitar— Intermediate. Experienced guitar players will learn to sight read and perform work from a variety of periods and composers in du- ets, trios or quartets. Designed for continuing/experienced students. 8 | DANCE & MUSIC CLASSES Tap & Ballet Have your dancer plié and glissade

into class! This Ballet/Tap class will introduce dancers to basic movements and teach children to use their body as a rhythmic instrument. All dancers will show off their intricate routines for parnts at a final class production. Tap shoes are optional. Children can wear comfortable clothing. Parents can stay for the first ten minutes of the class.

REGISTRATION POLICY | 15 Please consider the following policies and requirements before registering for a San Jose Recreation Preschool Class: • Requirements for parent participation, volunteer, snack, etc. varies by center. • Teacher to child ratio is 1:10 or better. • Participants must be toilet trained by first day of program • Non-registered children are not allowed in the class at any time. Please make arrangements for siblings on your participation day. • A birth certicifate may be requested for age confirmation. • The City of San Jose, Department of Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services provide recreational programs ONLY and not licensed childcare. • After reaching the class capacity, your child can be put on a waitlist. If a spot becomes available at any San Jose Recreation Preschool Center, you will recieve a call and be given the option to enroll at that center or to stay on the waiting list. • Monthly payment plan is available, with auto-pay on the 20th of each month. A valid credit card must be on file for auto-pay option. (Kinder Prep & Learners only)

KINDERPREP This class prepares your child for kindergarten with ageappropriate activities, learning concepts, socialization skills and fun. Your child will gain a basic understanding of shapes, colors, pre-phonics, literacy building. The goal is to have fun, participate and learn.

LITTLE LEARNERS Children will be introduced to socialization, positive self-esteem, following directions and simple learning concepts. Children will work on hand eye coordination, motor skills, while gaining independence through the use of circle time, music, songs, stories, play, arts and crafts.
