High-energy dance classes provide hours of fun while improving coordination, stamina and overall fitness. Dance steps are introduced in easy to understand language. Students learn basic tap steps such as shuffles, rhythm exercises, and springs, and elementary ballet including plies, tendus, passes, and the basic ballet positions. Music & Theater SJG Guitar Lessons: Level 1
This fun and educational class is for the absolute beginner guitarist. Students will be introduced to the basics of guitar playing and music fundamentals by learning fun, contemporary songs. Topics include tuning, chord strumming, "power" chording, blues and the fundamentals of note and rhythm reading. ** Students will need to have their own acoustic guitar or electric guitar. Beginning Piano and Keyboards
Students will be taught the basics of playing music on the piano/ keyboard. San Jose Recreation Preschool Please consider the following policies and requirements before registering for a San Jose Recreation Preschool class:
Requirements for a parent participation, volunteer, snack, etc varies by center. Teacher to child ration is 1:10 or better. Participants must be toilet trained by the first day of program. Non-registered children are not allowed in the class at any time. Please make arrangements for siblings on your participation day. A birth certificate may be requested for age confirmations. The City of San Jose, Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services provide recreational programs ONLY and not licensed childcare. After reaching the class capacity your child can be put on a waitlist. If a spot becomes available at any SJ Recreation Preschool center, you will receive a call and be given the option to enroll at that center or to stay on the waiting list. Monthly payment plan is available, with auto-pay on the 20th of each month. A valid credit card must be on file for auto-pay option. (Kinder Prep & Little Learners only)
Children will be introduced to socialization, positive self-esteem, following directions and simple learning concepts. Get your groove on! Designed for adults with developmental disabilities, this fun exercise class leads participants through gentle warm-up, rhythmic aerobic movement, strength training, stretching, and cool-down to promote cardio-vascular health. Participants must be able to function in a 1 to 10 staff to participant ratio and independent with personal care needs, or provide an attendant. Ages 18+.

Simply Cooking
This introductory course for adults with developmental disabilities covers basic kitchen safety, basic menu planning, and preparing simple dishes. Menus will include breakfast, lunch, dinners, and desserts. Class includes lecture, observation, and hands on preparation. Students will receive instructional materials to take home.
