Child and Teen Programs Fun For All This program focuses on fun with music, games, arts and crafts, movement activities, and a field trip. This play program is designed for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Children should bring a sack lunch to class each week. Participants must be able to function in a 1 to 3 staff to participant ratio and independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant for person al care. Power Soccer Power soccer is an electrifying and growing multi-player sport designed for those who use power chairs. Come join our power soccer teams (San Jose Steamrollers, Rockets, and Flash) to help develop your skills in a power chair while playing an exciting sport! You will get the opportunity to play with your team in local and national tournaments. Depending on skill level and coaches recruitment, participants will be placed on one of the three teams. Steamroller practice from 10am-12pm. Rockets practice from 12pm- 2pm. Flash practices from 1pm-3pm. Participants must be able to have a power chair adaptable for power soccer. Wheels on Fire Have you got game? Basketball, Rugby, Soccer, Bocce, Archery, Field Events...You play it, we offer it! Wheels on Fire is a sports team designed for athletes with physical disabilities who enjoy a variety of sports. No wheelchair, no problem. We have extra chairs for use during program. Athletes of all abilities are welcome. The team practices basic sports skills, team cooperation and rules of competitive play. This program focuses on exposure to a variety of wheelchair sports with the potential for competitive skill development. We may also engage in special activities such as holiday themed events or field trips. Snacks may be provided. Participants must be able to participate in a 1:5 staff to participant ratio and be independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant. Social SkillsRecreation and Art Therapeutic Leisure Club Come out and meet new friends! This leisure program is designed to develop leisure awareness and social skills for individuals with moderate to severe developmental disabilities. Activities include crafts, games, music, parties and more. Participants who are able will go on one community outing per session. Barracuda Hockey Game with All Access (Special Event) Join your favorite All Access staff at the SAP center to experience the fun and exciting San Jose Barracuda. Around the Town Club Join us for a night on the town! This social club utilizes community trips to improve socialization, leisure awareness and independent living skills. Try new things and explore your community with the support and encouragement of friendly, knowledgeable staff. Living Skills/COOKING Simply Cooking This introductory course for adults with developmental disabilities covers basic kitchen safety, basic menu planning, and preparing simple dishes. Menus will include breakfast, lunch, dinners, and deserts. Class includes lecture, observation, and hands on preparation. Students will receive instructional materials to take home. Aphasia Talkfest The City of San Jose and the Pacific Stroke Association are collaborating together and inviting people with aphasia to our new monthly social group.
