Programs for children & teens with disabilities Power Soccer Power soccer is an electrifying and growing multi-player sport designed for those who use power chairs. Come join our power soccer teams (San Jose Steamrollers, Rockets, and Flash) to help develop your skills in a power chair while playing an exciting sport! You will get the opportunity to play with your team in local and national tournaments. Depending on skill level and coaches recruitment, participants will be placed on one of the three teams. Steamroller practice from 10am-12pm. Rockets practice from 12pm- 2pm. Flash practices from 1pm-3pm. Participants must be able to have a power chair adaptable for power soccer. Participants must be able to function in a 1:8 staff to participant ratio and independent with personal care needs. No practice on November 25th Tournament on October 21st & December 9th. Fun For All This program focuses on fun with music, games, arts and crafts, movement activities, and a field trip. This play program is designed for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Children should bring a sack lunch to class each week. Folklorico Dance (inclusion) Dance is more than just moving to music. Each season, participants will learn two dances. As part of the learning process, we will teach about the history of the dance and its area of origin and include a fun craft which will focus on the theme of the dance. Programs for Teens & Adults with Disabilities Co-op Dance These dances for individuals with disabilities ages 16 and up are co-sponsored and hosted by the Therapeutic Recreation programs of the cities of San JosÊ, Santa Clara and Sunnyvale. Around the Town Club Join us for a night on the town! This social club utilizes community trips to improve socialization, leisure awareness and independent living skills. Try new things and explore your community with the support and encouragement of friendly, knowledgeable staff. Past activities have included movies, restaurants, sporting events, theme events and nights at the theatre. The first night of the program will take place at Camden Community Center. Location thereafter varies based on participants chosen activities. Participants will be assigned to a group the first night. An event calendar will be passed out the second week of program. Members must be able to participate within a 1:6 staff to participant ratio and independent with their personal care needs. Please note: registration fee covers staffing costs only. Wheels on Fire Have you got game? Basketball, Rugby, Soccer, Bocce, Archery, Field Events...You play it, we offer it! Wheels on Fire is a sports team designed for athletes with physical disabilities who enjoy a variety of sports. No wheelchair, no problem. We have extra chairs for use during program. Athletes of all abilities are welcome. The team practices basic sports skills, team cooperation and rules of competitive play. This program focuses on exposure to a variety of wheelchair sports with the potential for competitive skill development. We may also engage in special activities such as holiday themed events or field trips. Snacks may be provided. Participants must be able to participate in a 1:5 staff to participant ratio and be independent with personal care needs or provide an attendant. Simply Cooking This introductory course for adults with developmental disabilities covers basic kitchen safety, basic menu planning, and preparing simple dishes. Menus will include breakfast, lunch, dinners, and deserts. Class includes lecture, observation, and hands on preparation. Students will receive instructional materials to take home. Due to popular demand - located at the newly rebranded Bowlero San Jose, 5420 Thornwood Drive in San Jose on Tuesdays from 4:00-5:30pm. Ages 11 and up are welcome. Each week, we will meet a the Roosevelt Community Center and travel using public transportation to different trails, museums, festival, and parks in the area. San Jose has a lot to offer it urban dwelling explorers. We'll learn about our unique community settings while meeting new friends and getting a little exercise. Adapted Fitness Don't put it off any longer! The time has come to jump start your fitness level. The program is located at a fully equipped Camden Community Fitness Center for individuals 18 and up with a physical disability. Each participant will receive a customized workout program designed to achieve their personal fitness goals. Join us at Luigi's Pizza in Campbell for pizza and a soda. Then we will walk over to the Campbell Plaza Theaters to see a movie that is playing around 7pm. KINDERPREP This class prepares your child for kindergarten with ageappropriate activities, learning concepts, socialization skills and fun. Your child will gain a basic understanding of shapes, colors, pre-phonics, literacy building. The goal is to have fun, participate and learn.

LITTLE LEARNERS Children will be introduced to socialization, positive self-esteem, following directions and simple learning concepts. Children will work on hand eye coordination, motor skills, while gaining independence through the use of circle time, music, songs, stories, play, arts and crafts.

All Access Sports & Recreation Specialized Programs All Access Sports and Recreation (AASR) provides a wide range of programs for individuals of all ages with all ability levels, including those with ambulatory and cognitive disabilities, such as, power soccer, cooperative dances, play camps and group arts.
