DANCE BABY BALLET (Parent & Child) Baby Ballet encourages self-expression and fun! Children learn to respond to music, improve balance and agility, and express their feelings through dance. A variety of music and props such as scarves and teddy bears keep your little one entertained. ballet shoes). Suggested Attire: Comfortable clothes or leotards, tights and tutus. Students are encouraged to bring Tap and Ballet shoes, but may also wear closed-toe shoes for Tap and bare feet for Ballet. MUSIC BEGINNING UKULELE & GUITAR Playing a string instrument has been an enjoyable and healing activity for the teachers of this class. Members of the class will learn two or three familiar songs each week on their instruments and be able to accompany themselves and others. No previous experience is required. Basic essentials of music will be a part of the course. Those taking the class should bring their own instruments and music stands and a 3-ring binder for music. Instructor: Jane Silver & Elaine Miller

BEGINNING PIANO AND KEYBOARDS Students will be taught the basics of playing music on the piano/ keyboard. Topics include: basic notes, rhythm and theory as well as finger exercises, chords and scales, all with the goal of being able to play basic keyboard accompaniment parts and fun songs. Keyboards will be provided for students in class. However, students will need a keyboard at home for practice. INTERMEDIATE GUITAR NEW! This class is meant for students who know chords in several keys and want to add new strums, fnger-picking styles, and blues fills to their guitar knowledge. The class will cover Travis picking, Carter Family style, basic 12 bar blues, and Latin rhythms. Styles will be taught in association with songs played in that style. Students will learn two or three songs at each session. Essentials of music will also be a part of the course, including reading simple classical guitar music. CONTINUING PIANO AND KEYBOARDS This is a follow-up class to Beg. Piano Level 1. Students will work on music rudiments and songs both as a group as well as receive some individual instruction. Topics include playing chords to popular and classic songs, melody playing and beginning solo piano skills. Class curriculum rotates each session so the student can repeat this class up to 4 times. Encourages large motor skill development through fun soccer games and introduces small children to the group setting. Shin guards are required after the first meeting. CAMPS -NEW! HORSE RIDING CAMP AT PRUSCH FARM Campers learn to saddle, groom, lead, parts of the horse and saddle, horse psychology and safety, lay horse related games, and much more. Campers ride for at least one hour per day. Please wear long pants, closed toe shoes, bring lunch, snack and water. Horse riding campers will meet at the livestock barn. PLEASE NOTE: The main entrance to Emma Prusch Park is closed on Mondays. Camp San Jose CAMP SAN JOSE @ WILLOW GLEN At Camp San Jose your child will participate in an unforgettable summer day camp experience combining summer camp traditions with enriching and educational activities. Children will play fun games, sports, create cool arts and crafts projects, sing funny songs and embark on a weekly field trip. Activities incorporate educational features disguised in fun and entertaining activities and projects. Price includes a low leader to child ratio of 1:10, field trips, a Camp San Jose shirt, skill building, new friendships, disguised learning and much more! Campers need to bring water, lunch* and sunscreen each day. *Check with your local community center for a complete list of field trips, lunch programs, scholarships and payment plans. CAMPS FIT CAMP: FUNDAMENTALS IN TRAINING Come join us at F.I.T. Camp, a two week long camp where your kids will develop a balanced approach of knowledge, skills and confidence to be physically active for a lifetime! CAMP LEADERSHIP The Leadership Camp is designed for ages 13-17 years old that need a more mature camp, Typical Fun camp but with age appropriate activities. Campers get to become role model to the younger campers and take on a more responsible role by planning and leading fun and exciting camp games and activities. SPECIALTY CAMPS SPECIALTY CAMPS (JUNE 12-16) Skyhawks Basketball: This fun, skill-intensive program is designed for beginning to intermediate players. Using our progressional curriculum, staff focus on the whole player - teaching respect, teamwork, and responsibility. An active week of passing, shooting, dribbling, and rebounding makes this a popular program. All participants receive a ball, t-shirt and a player evaluation. We will also learn pastel techniques as we completed a 12x18 pastel piece with the beach in mind. Willow Glen Children’s Theatre Camp: Looking for a great summer theater camp located in a beautiful park, where your child ages 7 and up, will have fun, learn theater skills, and so much more? Theater Camp, put on by the Willow Glen Children's Theater (WGCT), is for you! ARTHRITIS EXERCISE PROGRAM This program is based on the Arthritis Foundation's suggested exercises for individuals with arthritis and joint pain. This low-impact class addresses the pain, fatigue, and decreased strength that often accompany arthritis. Exercises may be done seated or standing and also include optional floor exercises. Health outcomes may include decreased joint pain and stiffness; increased range of motion, flexibility, endurance, and energy levels; and improved joint functionality, muscle tone, and ability to perform daily activities and overall health status. AARP Smart Driver Class (for ages 50+) This driver safety program offers two different options: a two-day course and a one-day course that acts as a refresher course. Upon completion, most automobile insurance companies offer a discount (check with your agent for cost savings). January - December 2017 - Only $10 Although membership is not required to participate in programs/classes, members get $8 off each program/class and all special events, including field trips, at Willow Glen Community Center throughout the year. Programs/classes at other community centers are not discounted with a Willow Glen Membership. Anyone 50 years or older is eligible to become a member. Join our community and become a 2017 Willow Glen Member today! WILLOWS CAFÉ Join us for lunch Monday – Friday at 12 pm in the dining room. Fresh, hot meals are cooked on site each day. Reservations for the menu selection must be made 1 DAY IN ADVANCE BEFORE 12 PM (reservations Monday-Friday only). Monthly menus are available in our office. If you cannot attend lunch, please call and cancel your reservation. We greatly appreciate your assistance. Participants can call (408) 265-0915 to make a reservation or cancel their reservation. A half hour of legal assistance for seniors who are age 60+ and a resident of Santa Clara County. FREE Senior Peer Advocates (SPA) SPA volunteers provide information in various languages and help connect you to many community resources, services, and benefits such as: Food & Nutrition, Housing, Transportation, Care-Giving and Family Support, Legal Services, and Social or Educational Activities. Half hour session. By appointment only on Tuesdays 1-4 pm. FREE Senior Lounge Our Senior Lounge is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Share a cup of coffee with a friend, watch tv, or check your email on one of our computers. The Senior Lounge is a great place to meet some new friends or reconnect with friends from the past.
