Sein Credo lautet „Zuhören und sich um Menschen kümmern“. Und vermutlich ist es genau das, was ihn in den letzten 25 Jahren so erfolgreich gemacht hat. Der neue General Manager des Park Hyatt Zürich ist gebürtiger Engländer mit britischer und irischer Staatsbürgerschaft und spricht fliessend deutsch. Das ist seiner Mutter zu verdanken, die in Österreich geboren und in Deutschland aufgewachsen ist.
DER VOLLBLUT-HOTELIER Er selbst wurde 1969 in London geboren und gilt heute als Hyatt-Experte. Ein Vollblut-Hotelier. Und das nicht umsonst, denn seine Hyatt-Karriere begann bereits vor rund 25 Jahren. Den Auftakt markierte 1989 ein Studium im Bereich Hotel und Catering Management an der Universität von Portsmouth. Nach Stationen in Deutschland und Hong Kong begann er 1996 im Hyatt Regency Riyadh. Als Resident Manager und General Manager folgten weitere Posten in Osteuropa, unter anderem in der Türkei, der Ukraine und Kirgisistan. Zuletzt 9 Jahre im Luxushotel Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow, sagt Ansell heute rückblickend: „Eine wunderbare Zeit, doch meine Wurzeln liegen in diesem Teil der Welt“.
MIT OPTIMISMUS IN DIE ZUKUNFT Gestartet ist Ansell, der auch gleichzeitig die Funktion des „Area Vice President South Eastern Europe“ innehat, in einer anspruchsvollen Zeit. Doch für die Zukunft gibt er sich optimistisch für den Standort in Zürich. Und neben dem „Care & Cleanliness Commitment“, flexiblen Stornierungsfristen oder kreativen Meeting-Konzepten wie hybriden und virtuellen Meetings ist Stephen Ansell doch besonders eines wichtig: die Philosophie „HOME AWAY FROM HOME“ zu leben - die Philosophie, die auf den Gründer Jay Pritzker zurückgeht.

UNDER NEW LEADERSHIP
AFTER TEN YEARS IN MOSCOW, STEPHEN ANSELL DECIDED TO RETURN TO WESTERN EUROPE. THE NATIVE ENGLISHMAN HAS BEEN THE NEW HOTEL MANAGER IN PARK HYATT ZURICH SINCE JANUARY 2020. STARTING OUT DURING PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST CHALLENGING TIMES OF OUR LIVES.
His motto is „Listening and looking after people“. And it is presumably just this philosophy that has made him so successful over the past 25 years. The new General Manager at Park Hyatt Zurich was born in England, has British and Irish citizenship and speaks fluent German. Thanks to his mother, who was born in Austria and grew up in Germany.
A FULL-BLOODED HOTELIER Born in 1969 in London, he is regarded today as a Hyatt expert. A full-blooded hotelier. And not without reason, because his Hyatt career already began around 25 years ago. It started with he studied Hotel and Catering Management at the University of Portsmouth in 1989. After working in Germany and Hong Kong he began at Hyatt Regency Riyadh in 1996. He assumed positions as Resident Manager and General Manager in Eastern Europe, including posts in Turkey, Ukraine and Kirgizstan. Most recently spending 9 years in the luxury hotel Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow; looking back today Ansell claims: „A wonderful time of my life, but my roots are in this part of the world “.
OPTIMISTIC FOR THE FUTURE Ansell, who simultaneously assumed the role of „Area Vice President South Eastern Europe“, began during a challenging time. However he remains optimistic for the future of the Zurich location. And even with the exceptional „Care & Cleanliness Commitment“, flexible cancellation times or creative meeting concepts such as hybrid und virtual meetings, Stephen Ansell holds steadfastly to one thing: living the philosophy „HOME AWAY FROM HOME“- the philosophy that can be traced back to the founder Jay Pritzker.
