A city block, re-imagined.

Meet Dairy Block. Restaurants, bars, coffee shops, shopping, art, and one of the city’s best hotels — Dairy Block has it all. Here’s a look at Denver’s newest micro-district, taking shape in the heart of LoDo. LoDo is layered with history, and Dairy Block is no exception. Built on the historic block where Windsor Dairy once stood, it’s bringing a renewed vibrance to the area just south of Coors Field. The Maven Hotel serves as the foundation, and an array of handcrafted food and drinks, carefully curated shops, and engaging spaces round it out. Two of the first to fill the Block were Kachina Southwestern Grill and the Poka Lola Social Club, both by Sage Restaurant Group’s Peter Karpinski. Kachina focuses on the flavors of the Four Corners — Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah — with dishes inspired by native ingredients, colors, and textures. Just across The Maven’s lobby, Poka Lola’s subtle touches transport visitors back to the 1950s, embracing nostalgia with retro decor and soda-fountaininspired cocktails. In the past few weeks, Sunnyside’s Huckleberry Roasters opened their newest location at Dairy

Block, alongside flourist and homewares shop The Perfect Petal. These two will soon be joined by Seven Grand Whiskey Bar and Run for the Roses, a retro-glam cocktail lounge from the team behind Cap Hill’s recently-shuttered Black Eye Coffee. Plus, The Perfect Petal offers dazzling fresh floral arrangements as well as potted succulents and homeware. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., The Perfect Petal carries greeting cards, jewelry, journals, trinkets and more. Several Colorado product lines are represented, including lotions and soaps from Formulary and Zents. Dairy Block’s cornerstone experience will be the Milk Market, a multi-concept food hall operated by Frank Bonanno (of Osterio Marco, Mizuna, Green Russell, Bones, and more). The Market will be filled with 15 different restaurants, serving everything from seafood and fried chicken, to bao buns and poke, to pizza and salad. And, with a taproom and wine bar to boot, it’s bound to be Denver’s latest hot spot.

Why we love this home. Every detail in this exquisite duplex echoes the inviting feel of its open layout. From the charming front door to the open riser staircase to the frameless glass shower in the master bath, each element of the design encourages a conversation between spaces, creating a natural flow from room to room. A custom “floating” patio in the backyard extends the space outside, with built-in under-lighting that fills the space with a relaxing evening ambiance. Three floors up, a spacious terrace provides incredible views of Downtown, with a wetbar and interior space that make it ideal for entertaining.

Eat. Dio Mio — River North 3264 Larimer Street diomiopasta.com There’s no question that the team behind Dio Mio is focused on one thing — making good food. From their classic cacio e pepe to their stunning squid ink pasta, their menu constantly delights, with unpretentious dishes that bring a little bit of Italy to RiNo. Chef-Owners Alex Figura and Spencer White are constantly playing around with the menu, introducing a few experimental dishes alongside their more traditional fare. So whether you go there once a month or it’s your very first time, there’s always something new to try.

Home. 2712 Irving Street // The Highlands Four bedrooms / Five bathrooms / 3,181 Sq. Ft. MLS 5810408 / $895,000 Offered by Lindsay McBride, lmcbride@sliferdenver.com

Insider Tip: Dio Mio is a casual, counterserve restaurant. And, since they don’t accept reservations, its popularity can mean finding a table at prime dining hours isn’t always easy. Get there early to snag your spot, or be prepared to be patient. But we promise, it’s well worth the wait.

Do.

The round-up of don’t miss events. Opening Day April 6th, 2:10pm — Coors Field coloradorockies.com Spring Flea April 14th-15th — Denver Rock Drill denverflea.com Untitled Final Friday: Suzi Q. Five Questions, One Broker. S C O T T L EGGETT, M A N A GI NG BROK ER, SLIFER — DENV ER Name one thing we might not know about you. I learned to ski in Germany and Austria in the 1960’s. My dad was in the Air Force, stationed near Frankfurt Germany from 1965-1968. We had lived in Colorado Springs before that, but never skied until the move to Germany. It was wonderful spending a week at a time at Berchtesgaden, Garmisch, or the Zugspitze. Name one thing on your 2018 bucket list: Ski Crested Butte. I skied there a lot in the 1970’s and lived there during the winter of 1976-77, a notoriously dry winter (at least until the spring storms came). I have only skied there a handful of times since and it has been more than a decade now. I have lots of fond memories and can’t wait to ski the North Face again. What’s your go-to spot in Denver? Brewery Bar II for lunch. I love their chile rellenos smothered with hot green chile (best in the city!) and always pair them with a Coors Banquet (of course). It started as our go-to Friday afternoon spot in the early 80’s and is still a favorite. What’s the best new restaurant you’ve tried lately? Tavernetta. They have a great menu with a very nice variety, and the food is prepared perfectly! Plus, the restaurant has a great vibe and an incredible wait staff. What are you the most excited about in life right now? Growing Slifer, Smith & Frampton — Denver! It’s a lot of fun searching for wonderful people that fit into our fun and friendly team. sleggett@sliferdenver.com // (303) 817-7320

Blue Sparrow Coffee. One of our favorite little coffee shops in RiNo, with a calming ambiance and delicious drinks. Blue Sparrow Coffee // Backyward on Blake // 3070 Blake St #180
