Tupelo Honey

Skyline Beer Garden A N D M U C H M O R E!

VOLUNTEER: THE G ROWHAUS The GrowHaus growhaus.org The GrowHaus is a wonderful example of the impact our community can have when we take care of our own. Their resident-driven program has created an urban, year-round food system that produces and distributes healthy food to Denver neighborhoods, all from their indoor farm in Elyria-Swansea. They then take health to the next level with service learning, multi-week classes, public workshops, leadership programs, and more focused on nutrition, gardening, and cooking techniques — all in their vision of enabling communities to nourish themselves. Be a part of the process. Volunteer opportunities range from sorting produce and preparing meals to assembling food boxes to delivering food (by bike!) around the city to maintaining their beautiful gardens. No need to register in advance — just drop by one of the time slots listed on their website (growhaus.org/volunteer) and get to work!

E AT: TUPELO HONE Y Tupelo Honey - Union Station Neighborhood 1650 Wewatta Street, tupelohoneycafe.com/denver The South has officially arrived! With Tupelo Honey opening on the platform at Union Station earlier this summer, fresh biscuits, warm cornbread, and fried green tomatoes are now readily available, right in the heart of the city. Originally from the Carolinas, the new spot has crafted their menu around a revival of classic Southern cuisine. And the drinks are the definition of experiential dining. Try the Mountain Smoke — it combines campfire whiskey, rosemary, cuban cigar bitters (made in house, of course), and coffee, all topped off with a hearty table-side infusion of rosemary smoke. Trust us, it’s an experience you won’t soon forget. Looking for something on the sweeter side? Their frosé is a great go-to, especially on a hot summer day. It’s pink, it’s cold, and it’s incredibly refreshing. If you have the afternoon off work, stop by every weekday for their Seersucker Martini Lunch. Wash down your lunch with a martini for only 75 cents (or three).

FIVE QUES TI ONS, ONE B ROK ER Patti Brave, Broker Associate at Slifer — Denver What’s the most exciting part about being a broker at SSF Denver? I love the hustle and bustle of Riverfront Park and meeting all the wonderful people that stop in our office. We have a great team of brokers who all look out for each other, participate in lots of charitable causes, and just have fun. And we’re are all very excited about East West Partners’ spectacular new condominium development, The Coloradan. What do you like to do on your day off? I’m an avid Zumba dancer, play pickle ball with my husband, and love boating and other activities with my kids and grandkids. Name one thing on your 2017 bucket list. I have lots of ideas for the future, but for 2017, a winter vacation in various spots in Florida with family and friends. Tell us about a recent adventure. I moved from Vail this year to be with my family. It’s been a big change, but I’ve been with Slifer Smith and Frampton for 20 years and am so happy to be able to stay with this fantastic company in Denver. I love learning about all the special things in the Denver metro area. What’s your go-to spot in Denver? Love the Palm restaurant for special occasions. We’ve been going there for 30 years and always have the best food and perfect service. Patti Brave, pbrave@slifer.net (970) 390-1112

#M Y FAVOR ITEB LOCK Tara Lovato, Founder / Owner / Curator / Stylist, La Lovely Vintage www.lalovelyvintage.com My Favorite Block: Larimer Street between 20th and 30th in RiNo. La Lovely Vintage is a great local go-to for beautiful, thoughtfully-curated goods. It all started as a mobile vintage shop in an adorable teal 1957 Shasta trailer named Lucy, and has since added a brick and mortar location in RiNo’s Backyard on Blake (30th and Blake Street). The vintage and modern boutique specializes in men and women’s clothing, accessories, home décor, and handmade goods, with all items curated by the shop’s founder and owner, Tara Lovato. We caught up with Tara this month to talk about her favorite part of the city: “My favorite block is in RiNo, on Larimer Street between 20th and 30th. RiNo has an endless supply of amazing restaurants, breweries, and art murals in walking distance from each other. It’s a great place to spend a day off with friends or family exploring the city and seeing what Denver has to offer.” Check out Tara’s favorite go-to spots: Bar Fausto: The Atmosphere and the Drinks (Old Fashioned) Meadowlark Kitchen: Best hamburger in Town Infinite Monkey Theorem: Always great vibes. A modern winery with beautiful indoor and outdoor seating. Crema: Coffee and Veggie Sandwiches

E XPLOR E: SK Y LI NE B EER GAR DEN Skyline Beer Garden Open 11am to 10pm every day, through October 7th Skyline Park, 16th and Arapahoe skylinebeergarden.com Every summer, Skyline Park is transformed into a fullfledged beer garden. With over ten beers on tap and a myriad of delicious local bites, it’s a fun, relaxing way to enjoy Denver’s thriving craft beer scene. Pop by for lunch and snag a burger or brat, chips, and a drink for just $9 (Monday-Friday, 11am-3pm). Or swing by after work for 2-for-1 beers or wine (Monday-Thursday, 3-6pm). It’s location in the heart of downtown makes it the perfect spot to catch up with friends after work. The Beer Garden is a joint effort of the Downtown Denver Partnership and the Downtown Denver Business Improvement District. Check out their other projects at downtowndenver.com.
