What are you the most excited about in life right now? As previously mentioned, I am a bit of a travel addict and I’m really excited about our upcoming trips! On the books so far: Heading to Mexico in November — splitting our time between a restored palace in Mexico City, a water purification plant-turned-boutique hotel in Puebla, and a luxurious retreat on a lime plantation in San Rafael, Veracruz. Minot and Santa Fe with our families for the holidays, then L.A. in January, and London / Paris in February for my birthday! (And I’m writing these answers on a plane to Montréal!) What’s the best new restaurant you’ve tried lately? My favorite new restaurant has to be Citizen Rail at the Hotel Born. We’ve been both for drinks and for dinner and I can’t wait to get back ASAP. As a designer, the interiors are top-notch, with a menu to match. I’d recommend any of their dry-aged steaks, and I had truly perfect duck as well. I’m eager to try their new brunch menu — anyone game? Nic Leggett, nleggett@sliferdenver.com (720) 626-0921

E AT: WEWAT TA PO I NT Wewatta Point — Union Station 1607 Wewatta Street, thepointseafood.com/wewattapoint The latest newcomer to the Union Station neighborhood comes bearing fresh seafood — and lots of it. Opened midOctober, the restaurant features a diverse menu of seafood, meat, and vegetarian dishes, including all the classics (think oysters, mussels, clam chowder, and lobster) alongside an eye-catching handful of unique plates (bacon spinach gratin, anyone?). The interior has a modern, beachy feel, with fish-scale floor tiling, crab net light fixtures, and an etherial ocean painting that transports you straight to the coast. They’re open for lunch and dinner, with a special weekend brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. And, don’t miss their “Low Tide” happy hour weekdays from 3:30-6:30pm.

#M Y FAVOR ITEB LOCK Tyler DuBois, Co-Founder and Co-Owner The Real Dill therealdill.com The Real Dill is Denver’s official pickle maker. What started as a low-key pickling hobby over five years ago has since become a delicious staple in the city’s food scene. Along with his business partner Justin Park, Colorado native Tyler DuBois runs the company, which now produces several varieties of pickles (jalapeño honey dills, anyone?) and the best bloody mary mix in town. And these guys are the epitome of creativity when it comes to flavors — they even have a recipe section on their blog with clever ways to use your leftover pickle juice in marinades, entrées, cocktails, and more. We caught up with Tyler to talk about his favorite block in Denver and what it is about it that he loves so much. My Favorite Block: “My favorite block is the stretch of Federal Blvd. between Kentucky and Mississippi. This stretch of Federal is a treasure trove of different cultures. On the same block you have people roasting green chiles, serving up huge bowls of Pho, and serving up handmade dumplings! Two of my favorite places to eat happen to be on the block: Pho Duy — Pho Duy is my go to pho place. The broth is always great and they do a great job with the tendon. Lao Wang — My other favorite is Lao Wang noodle house. They are famous for their quirky service, soup dumplings, and pot stickers. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it!!”

FIVE QUES TI ONS, ONE B ROK ER Nic Leggett, Broker Associate at Slifer — Denver Name one thing we might not know about you. This may be cheating, but I’m not just a broker — I am somewhat of a serial entrepreneur. I have my own architectural and graphic design firm (Nicholas Cutler), I founded a natural skin care company with my mom (Plus Modern Skin), and I also just started a travel blog called Chouf Chouf. So if I’m not out on a showing, I’m either drawing something, testing out a new skin care formula, or planning a trip! What’s your go-to spot in Denver? I lived in China for a bit in college, so I’m continuously searching for the tastes I remember from my time there. Luckily for me (and for you), there’s a great little Chinese joint on Federal called Lao Wang. It is absolutely authentic, complete with somewhat brusque service and zero ambiance — but trust me, the food is worth it. Get the pan-fried dumplings, a few orders of xiao long bao (soup dumplings) and a beer, custom-brewed by Caution Brewing Co. with five-spice and chilies. Fall is here! What’s your favorite fall activity? Mark (my fiancé) and I love to cook, so we throw a lot of dinner parties in the fall — something about the cooler temperatures make gathering with friends and family extra cozy. One of our go-to fall menus is a huge assortment of cured meats, cheeses, olives, fresh baguettes, with lots of roasted veggies and salads — easy, casual and zero-stress. Light a ton of candles and open a few bottles of wine and you’re set.

G IVE BACK : COT TONWOOD I NS TITUTE The Cottonwood Institute cottonwoodinstitute.org One of the best parts about living in Colorado is our access to the beautiful outdoors. Our friends at The Cottonwood Institute are helping extend this access to underserved students in the Denver metro area. By collaborating with schools and youth organizations to provide academic credit, Cottonwood Institute engages students through hiking and camping trips, hands-on outdoor projects, environmental education, and service learning experiences. Check out cottonwoodinstitute.org to learn more about this incredible organization, their impact on our community, and how you can get involved. Mark your calendars! Colorado Gives Day is coming up on December 5th. This state-wide movement helps celebrate and organize philanthropic efforts by making online giving easier than ever. This year, a $1 million incentive fund from Community First Foundation and FirstBank is proportionately supplementing donations, meaning your contribution can have an even bigger impact. Head to coloradogivesday.org for details.
