SUMMARY As we submit this post-show report of the 2nd Kenya Hospitality Trade Fair and the Hotel Summit East Africa, we take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors, partners, exhibitors and the hospitality industry at large for supporting the events and contributing to their success. During this time when Kenya is dealing with security concerns, the tourism industry has been highly affected, the trade fair and conference provides a pivotal platform for stakeholders to network, interact and discuss solutions to the current state of the industry. KHTF and HOSEA will continue to show the vast opportunities and interests Lucy Gacheru - Director Slujan Events

in the business of hospitality and hotels within the region. We do this by creating platforms where businesses and brands can interact and engage with the consumers at a deeper level, learn the latest trends in the industry, source new products and gain new business contacts. The trade fair, which ran from 14 - 16 May 2014, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, Nairobi-Kenya attracted over 3,800 industry professionals looking to gain inroads to the industry and learn from industry experts. This year the event attracted a high percentage of new exhibitors drawn from the food and beverage industry and hospitality supplies and equipment. We were very proud to premier exciting event features in the exhibitions industry. These included The Chefs Corner, The Coffee Baristas Challenge, Wine Tasting Sessions and the Bartenders and Mixologists Pavilion. I can confidently say that, even though we had our good share of challenges, KHTF and HOSEA 2014 were a success, and through all this, the Slujan Events team is working on making next year’s events even better. Our intention and reality is to make our events distinctively unique, continue to grow, bring in the right visitor profile and offer ROI. As the largest and most influential hospitality supply show in the region, we will continue to support the industry on all levels – delivering business results and promoting exchange of knowledge. We look forward to another successful show next year. Kind Regards,

Director - Slujan Events Ltd.

KHTF 2014: PREMIER EVENT FEATURES This year’s show went all out and introduced features that have never before been experienced in the East African exhibitions industry and more specifically the hotels and hospitality industry. As we had previously stated, our intention is to give our exhibitors an all-round experience in their engagement with the visitors. Our features are interactive engaging and experiential, thus a buyer takes to their establishment a tried and tested product or equipment.

A first in the hospitality industry, in partnership with renowned celebrity chef Ali Said Mandhry, we delivered the absolute showstopper of KHTF 2014. In conjunction with leading chefs from Kenya, Chef Ali assisted by Chef Raphael, also a well-loved household name in the culinary world, took industry players through 3 days of pure culinary art in a live cooking theatre.

Some of the top chefs that participated in the Chefs Corner were:

Chef Ali L’artiste Chef Pastry

Chef Avraj Sing Panafric

Chef Dominic Keya Hilton

Chef Godfrey Ouda Stanley

Chef Don Githua Panafric

The Chefs Corner is a concept that seeks to expose quality cooking equipment in use by the chefs who are the key decision makers on what is used in their kitchens. We would like to give the purchasing managers, food and beverage managers, hotel owners, chefs and industry stakeholders, that whatever is on exhibit at the fair is the best quality for their establishments, In this environment, the opportunity arose to taste, touch, feel and use the products on exhibit as they were meant to be used, in their actual environment, by the most vaunted names in the hotels industry.
