JAMBO ! Karibu Kenya, a truly blessed country with unique features, amazing flora and fauna, scenic landscapes, glistening beaches, historical sites and most importantly, the most hospitable people in the world. The Kenya Tourism Board embraces this attention and as this 2nd edition of the Kenya Hospitality Trade Fair and The Hotel Summit East Africa. As we embrace East Africa as the business and leisure destination, I am very excited to take this opportunity to encourage us harness the vast business opportunities our country has. Much needed attention is on the poaching of our elephants, and as we say “Hands off our elephants”, I further urge you to “Know the farthest and deepest corners of our most beautiful country”. The tourism sector continues to contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth and contributes to about 11% of GDP. With the UN World Tourism Organization reporting the attainment of the 100 million mark (International Tourist Arrivals) at the end of 2013, and a projected growth of between 4-4.5% in 2014, Kenya is at the forefront in gaining from this growth. Kenya is a land of diverse cultures, all interwoven by the

Kenya proud. This is truly a good year for Kenya and East Africa as a whole. Much attention has been drawn to Kenya as the business and investment hub – but we dare not forget that travel and tourism are one of the hugest revenue earners for Kenya. We at the Kenya Tourism Board have chosen the Kenya Hospitality Trade Fair and the Hotel Summit East Africa as one of the worthy platforms to showcase our diversity, and sample our culture. We are proud to be the host Tourist Board of this year’s KHTF and HOSEA! KARIBU KENYA!

Stable power supply with AytarSys energy management system
AytarSys offers renewable energy system for off-grid area. Based on the advanced Li- Ion battery technology, this system guarantees 24/7 power supply. Diesel generators are only used as a backup, diesel consumption can be reduced by 90%. Thus, power cost can be 20- 40 % lower than diesel generated power. Simple electricity generation with solar PV system is now an old story. With our energy storage and management system, high quality power is provided, i.e.: stable voltage and frequency despite of the fluctuations of PV-generation and power consumption, provision of short circuit current and black start ability are integrated. Power production between diesel generator and PV system is automatically synchronized. This sealed ‘plug & play’ system is a specialized solution for an extreme climate conditions. The container allows the power electronics to work with minimum maintenance: stable temperature, without dust, moisture, salty air and insects. Just as warranty and maintenance contracts over 10 years remain in effect. Linking Tourism, Communities and Conservation Equatorial Nut Processors is a one of the leading edible nut concerns in East Africa. The company’s range of products, for both domestic and export markets, focuses on three principal nuts – Macadamia, Cashew and Peanuts. The firm controls nearly 50% of the Macadamia nuts business in Kenya and recently made major in-roads in the cashew and peanuts sectors. In addition, the company has diversified its portfolio and is now selling nuts in bulk away from the traditional markets, which were mainly in Europe and USA, to Asian countries. ENP has further enhanced its domestic activities. Currently, the company markets retail-ready nuts (cashew nuts, macadamia and mixed nuts) to local chain stores and other outlets. Within the same outlets, the company distributes energy drinks and is currently exploring new options in the production of fortified foods, potato crisps and other edible products. The company’s processing plants are situated in Murang’a County in the Kenyan highlands with 650 permanent employees and another 800 casual labourers during the high season, which is normally between the months of March and August every year. EXPLOIT PLEASURE!
Rabbit breeders Association of Kenya was registered in 2009 under societies Act. Founders of RABAK were small scale farmers who started rabbit farming in the year 2000. Due to the need of support from the government they formed a self help group from larger Thika & Gatundu districts, which grew to an Association to accommodate huge number of interested farmers from all over Kenya. RABAK was started to promote Food Security, generate wealth & employment for farmers and larger community. The organization has also been focusing on community attitude change towards rearing and consumption of rabbits. This is due to fact that rabbit farming and consumption has for a long time been termed as boys’ business. The organization has over 850 members distributed across Kenya, majority being from Kiambu, Muranga, Nyeri, Nairobi, Embu, Machakos, Nakuru, Meru, Tharaka-Nithi & Athi River Counties among others. RABBAK was officially launched on 27th January 2010 at Thika stadium. The occasion was graced by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Livestock development. Theme was “Enhanced Rabbit marketing for sustainable agri-business & improved livelihoods”. From that date RABAK & other sub- groups have opened many market outlets like butcheries & hotels in Thika, Kiambu, Nyeri, Muranga & Nairobi towns. It has also organized rabbit meat eating days where different farmers from different counties gather to sensitize the community on the benefits of rearing and eating rabbits. P. O. Hotel Websites A hotel website must showcase the ‘experience’ one would engage in on arrival. Your hotel website is your most important marketing tool because this is where the customer gets her first feel of the hotel. A badly designed website does more harm than good. The enlightened hotelier has scaled up her marketing investments to encourage direct bookings through her hotel website as this offers better margins at much lower commissions than traditional distribution channels. Agency Africa helps them achieve this objective through our customized hotel website designs www.kenyahospitalitytradefair.com | www.hotelsummitea.com

that are based on latest design trends using captivating photos, clean wide open spaces and clear knowledge of how to convert the prospective views to real customer bookings.
Hotel Website Visibility We boost the hotel website’s presence on search engines, such as Google, through our Search Engine Optimization (SEO) solution. After all, what good is your site if it fails to show up? SEO is our forte. Using strictly white hat techniques, we have demonstrated successful results in case of several of our hotel clients. Additionally, we undertake Google search advertising campaigns that are strategically targeted at geographical markets that best suit each hotel’s unique positioning. While SEO has a lasting impact with limited choice of keywords, search advertising on the other hand offers great exposure against a much wider choice of keywords.
Hotel Website Monetization Agency Africa is the exclusive reseller in East Africa for Singapore based ResAvenue, which is amongst the leading travel technology companies that offer both Direct Connect services for website booking engine as well as IDS/GDS solution for distribution of rooms’ inventory. It comes equipped with a multi-currency credit card, debit card, cash card, direct debit facility, which helps to close sales in real time. It also enables you to manage inventory allocation and sales across multiple sales channels such as GDS and IDS from a single window interface, from any PC with an internet connection.

Under the Patronage of His Excellency Dr. Evans Kidero, The Governor of Nairobi City County, Slujan Events, in partnership with Eastern African Economic Chambers of Commerce (EAECC) are proud to introduce the 2nd edition of Hotel Summit East Africa (HOSEA). This year’s conference themed “Moving Forward with Confidence” will be held from 15 – 16 May, 2014 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, Nairobi, Kenya and will delve deeper into the dynamics of the hotel, travel and hospitality industry. HOSEA is a premier business to business platform which gathers regional and international hotel investors, developers, owners and operators for two days of networking, insightful debate and discussions concerning the industry. The conference presents business networking solutions and a point of convergence for organizations and individuals seeking strategic knowledge, partnerships and insights into the region’s most promising sector. After the inaugural event, the conference has been highly acclaimed by delegates for its relevant program, renowned speakers and the excellent networking opportunities it presents. This year, we look forward to presenting an event that reflects the state of the industry and is responsive to the needs of all our stakeholders. Last years’ event attracted over 170 industry professionals and had 25 renowned speakers from across the African region. Co-located with the Kenya Hospitality Trade Fair (KHTF), East Africa’s premiere hospitality exhibition, the Hotel Summit is a timely business networking solution and viable point of convergence for organizations and individuals seeking strategic knowledge, C-level partnerships and insights into the region’s most promising sector. Starting with a strategic overview of the state of the global and regional hotel industry, the conference will then explore from local investors’ point of view the economic recovery of the region with a global and regional discussion on macro-economics and future predictions. A succession of executive panels that will include senior management from international and local hotel chains will enable participants to understand the hotel designs and architectural trends in East Africa, budget vs. luxury hotel development in East Africa as well as other discussions. Additional discussions will cover human resource and capacity building, technology and consumer trends and market research.
