PROJECT I Book Professor: Albert Folch and Pol Peréz
PROJECT III Digital Tablet Magazine Professor: Pep Alcantara/ Josep Maria Gassiot
The goal of this project was to design and produce a book in its entirety. Each student had complete freedom in the topic choice and format. The beginning of semester focused upon the concept stage of a book and how this affected the overall structure and design. The following weeks saw more definite design direction with focus upon grid system, logical typeface choice and materials. The final phase of the class was an independent education in the physical production of each project. the results were all unique, both due to their subject matter and the execution of the overall book concept.
The day of the digital periodicals is upon us, and the final project in the postgraduate program was to create an interactive magazine for tablet usage. This was executed in teams of two, and there was an open topic choice. The requirements were to have a 32 page periodical with digital interation that pertains to the subjtect matter and exhibits creative use of the technology in harmony with the spread design.
PROJECT II Magazine Professor: Oscar Germade In this portion of the postgraduate degree each student designed their own magazine. The initial phase of the project stressed funtionality though the use typeface choice and hierarchy. The major theme throughout the creation process was to establish a nice flow throught the publication. In the end each project exhibited a fresh spin on the magazine.
Art Direction Bendita Gloria Santi Fuster works with Alba Foster in Bendita Gloria, they both are Graphic designers, and they both helped us with this Workshop. For the project we were given a fragment of a text from the story the teacher divided us in groups of 4, we had to create a 16 pages publication with a new con- cept that represents the idea of the text. We could use any material, pictures, formats, etc. Content Serge Rompza
WORKSHOPS Letterpress L'Automatica The idea for this project was to create an A5 postcard with a typographic design. We were divided into 5 groups, and were asked to think of a phrase that could be designed with typesetting by hand composition and then printing it on a paper using the machines. Utilizing all the materials that the workshop provided us, we were able to generate 5 different designs. workshop provided us, we were able to generate 5 different designs.
An art direction workshop in which we had to create an 8 page publication using an interview made to an actor or actress as the content of the small book. We had to choose the right interview, and then look for typographies that suited the concept, we could also play with images, materials, etc. Self-Edition Omar Sosa Led by Omar Sosa the final workshop was to create this publication which was a competition between four groups to design a final project showcase of each member of the post-graduate program in
Editorial Design at Elisava Design Institute. The goal was to uniquely present a diverse group of individuals and their works.
