he candy-ďŹ lled, costume-laden holiday that is celebrated on October 31st has roots extending back 2,000 years ago to the Celtic festival known as Samhain (pronounced sow-in). The Celts celebrated their new year on November 1st, a day that marked the end of summer and harvest and the beginning of a cold, dark winter. The Celts associated winter with a time of human death and believed on the night before the New Year, the boundary between the world of the living and the world of the dead were blurred.

the beggars in return for their promise to pray for dead relatives. The practice was known as “going asouling.” The tradition fizzled out, but was revived between 1920 and 1950 in the United States. Trickor-treating became an inexpensive way to celebrate the holiday and families could prevent tricks being played on them by providing the neighborhood children with treats. The tradition grew and became the basis behind the holiday.

On the night before the new year (October 31st), they celebrated Samhain. The celebration was held to allow the dead to return to earth and allow the Celtic priests to make predictions about the future. On this night, the Celts wore costumes, often consisting of animal skins, and predicted each other’s futures. Once Christian influences came to the Celtic lands, Samhain was transformed into a church-sanctioned holiday known as All Souls Day. All Souls Day was celebrated similarly to Samhain, honoring the dead with bonfires, parades and dressing up. Angel, saint and devil costumes replaced animal skins, however. The celebration was also called Allhallows, All-hallows eve, and eventually, Halloween.

Today, Americans spend an estimated $6 billion dollars on Halloween, making it the country’s second largest commercial holiday. • 90% of parents admit to stealing candy from their child’s trick-ortreating loot. Their favorite treat to sneak: chocolate bars and caramel. • Take note: children prefer homes that hand out chocolate, lollipops and gummy candy.

Halloween came to America by way of immigrants in the second half of the 19th century. Americans began to dress up and go house to house asking for food or money, a practice that eventually turned into today’s “trick-or-treat” tradition. By the late 1800’s, Halloween became a community and neighborly event in which ghosts and witchcraft were absent. Parents were encouraged to take anything frightening or grotesque out of Halloween celebrations. Because of this effort, Halloween lost most of its superstitious and religious nuances by the beginning of the twentieth century.

Carving a pumpkin is a tradition that comes from Ireland and Scotland. Hollowed out turnips with burning candles or embers placed inside became a popular Halloween decoration a few hundred years ago. People believed that the carved turnip would ward off the dead. Like many traditions, this one traveled to America by way of immigrants. Instead of using turnips, families used pumpkins which were easier to find. Today, many families and children still carve pumpkins as a way to decorate for Halloween. Tips for choosing the perfect pumpkin • Examine the rind: a good pumpkin should have a firm rind and uniform color. It should be free of cuts, bruises and blemishes • Make sure the stem is not brown

• More than 93% of children go trick-or-treating every year.

and dry, and do not use the stem as a handle (even a healthy one can break off and fall on the ground). • Give the pumpkin a knock. If the pumpkin makes a thumping sound, it means the pumpkin is solid and free of internal defects, rot or soft spots. With the perfect pumpkin in hand, it can be tempting to rush home and carve it right away. However, once carved, a pumpkin only lasts four to five days before it begins to rot.

Lots of scary things can happen in a hotel. Bad food, insane movie charges and housekeeping staff barging in on you in the bathroom. But on Halloween, scary hotels take on a whole new meaning. People love a good ghost story and what better way to get a Halloween spook than sharing your room with an unpaying otherworldly visitor? Many hotels now offer packages that allow guests to take ghost tours, allowing them to get up close and personal with ghosts from years past.

California: Legend has it that Kate Morgan, who checked in to the hotel in 1892 to meet her estranged husband, was shot and found days later. Some believe her spirit still haunts the hotel and guests have reported noises, breezes and even ghost sightings. President Ford visited the Hotel del Coronado and his secret service agents even complained of hearing odd noises. • Hotel Maison de Ville: This New Orleans Hotel is home to a soldier with an affinity for country music. Twenty years ago, a hotel employee opened a door to find a man dressed in military uniform who then suddenly disappeared. Apparently, whenever the hotel has the radio on, the ghost changes it to a country station. • The Queen Mary: This famous cruise ship is now permanently docked in Long Beach, California. The ship hosts daily ghost tours, allowing visitors to get up close and personal with the guests who never checked out. Visitors to the ship have reported seeing wet footprints, hearing strange knocks and screams, and have even reported seeing women walking around in vintage bathing suits. and the Snippetz favorite: • The Stanley Hotel and Conference Center in Estes Park, Colorado: The hotel was host to writer Stephen King and was the inspiration behind “The Shining.” The made-for-TV film was shot at the Stanley Hotel as well. LIFE ENERGY FLOW TAI YI: SEEING WHAT IS THERE (Part 1 of 2)

M

ost of us live in a society in which we are taught to pay attention to what we see, not what we may not see or recognize. But, what if ‘something’ is available to us, but we do not recognize it? What if it needs to be recognized? When you recognize it, what will you do with it? That may sound like a riddle, but a point to ponder is this: for most children, they are told to pay attention to physical objects and physical people. However, when children are very young, the light receptors, or the cones and rods in their eyes are usually already programmed to see energy. The adults, and possibly older children, around the child, may not recognize that energy. That is because many individuals are told to only pay attention to what is physical. With that teaching applied, the child’s eyes become programmed to only recognize physical objects and people. The child can still see the energy, but will no longer recognize it based on the teaching and the belief that only physical objects and physical people matter. This can occur in various ways. Many times, a small child will point out something that he or she does not understand, such as energy. The energy can be connected to a person, such as

anger or joy, or it can be a nonphysical person, such as a deceased loved one, or it can be energy from some other source that the child happens to see. Just because the adults may not recognize it, does not mean it is not there. When a child desires to point out what he or she is seeing, the older children and/or adults may disregard it as imaginary or even punish the child for the desire to express something that may be seen as abnormal within the family unit.

KEEPSAKES UNLIMITED Antiques & Collectables

Both of those actions will teach the child to program his or her eyes to see what is considered ‘normal’. However, another point to ponder is that over the history of our world and different cultures, it was seen as abnormal to view the world as round, at one point. Also, at one point, it was seen as abnormal to believe the earth moved around the sun. In addition, it was seen as abnormal for doctors and nurses to wash theirs hands as many believed it not possible to spread diseases from one person to another through uncleanliness.

HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE?

Quantum physicists study energy all the time. Is it hard to believe that a small child would see energy? If a child takes on the belief that seeing energy is abnormal, he or she will likely suppress that ability. When that occurs, the child is suppressing a part of his or her true personality and then, many times, begins to form a false personality that is seen as acceptable and will not be ridiculed. This can lead to an angry adolescent who wants to be original and does not know how or what that would look like. How can Life Energy Flow assist a person who wants to identify what is their authentic nature so that he or she can express it without fear? Find out in next week’s issue.

FREE On-Line Programs... Retouching Photos

PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

Series 3, Article 1

FREE online image editors are all the rage today. From among the great number of programs available, I have chosen some of the best ones below. Each has its pro's and con's and some are good for beginners and others for more experienced photo editors. Like I said, they're free to use to play around with each of them and bookmark the ones with features you like! 1. Picnik.com - Picnik may be one of the most popular online image editors for the internet savy because you can upload photos from Flickr, Picasa, Facebook and Photobucket. The one negative would be that to use ALL the features, you must upgrade to Premium which costs $2.08 per month... though a small fee for someone who will use it all the time. You can remove blemishes, make yourself thinner, whiten your teeth and get rid of red-eye for FREE, but you must UPGRADE to use the wrinkle remover, sunless tan, change eye color, or to take the shine off your nose. Here's a scarey trick, upload a photo of your face and go to Effects and then down to HDR-ish….you won't frame this photo, but it's great to take to your dermatologist because it emphasizes your skin damage! 2. Splashup.com - Splashup is a web based photo editor that looks just like a desktop application. Very impressive. Users coming from Photoshop should feel right at home with this editor. Click on "Jump Right In" to begin. If you're new to photo editing, I'd choose another one of the applications below. Because this program has more options, it is more difficult to learn. 3. Pixlr.com - Pixlr is described as Photoshop in a browser. Definitely one of the most impressive professional online photo editor I've seen. If you are used to using Photoshop, but just don't own it, this is the program for you. If you already know how to edit a photo, go to "Open Photo Editor", if not, go to "Retro Vintage Effects" to choose from an array of instant retouching for your photo. 4. Aviary.com - This is an easy to use program for beginners or advanced artists who just want an easy fix. If it's retouching that you need to do, this on-line program is very good. With Aviary, you can click on sharpen, contrast, brighten,

COMMERCIAL • RESIDENTIAL

saturation and then simply choose from one of the variations they offer. Whiten teeth, retouch blemishes, erase wrinkles, flip it, rotate it……all with one push of a button. Aviary is a tool from Phoenix, an online image editor. The Phoenix page contains many videos on using it to produce some stunning photo effects. This program is my choice for beginners. 5. Pixenate.com - Editing your photos in Pixenate is pretty simplified….not very impressive. The best features of this program is to turn your photo into an oil painting, crop it into a heart shape, add snow, add a lens filter and other effects like this. 6. Picture2Life.com - Not impressed with the retouching apps in this program, but the Effects are really nice. Turn your photo in to a watercolor, emboss it, make it a watermark, sepia tone, etc. 7. LunaPic.com - I've got to admit I have the most fun playing with this program…especially the effects and animation options. LunaPic provides ability to convert your images to animated GIF files (make your photo move), and there are lots of ready made fancy animation effects that you can apply to your photo. This one was a blast! 8. FotoFlexer.com - Besides editing out blemishes, adjusting color, and all the other normal editing features, Foto Flexer as fun editing software that can turn your photos into comics, neons, and even crop your face onto Paris Hilton's body, add animated stars, a metallic frame, a mustache….very fun software. 9. Adobe Photoshop Express photoshop.com/tools/expresseditor Photoshop express is a free editor from Adobe. Besides having the usual features to retouch, crop and enhance, there is also a "Decorate" tab to add word-bubbles, Groucho Marx glasses, etc. to your photo. 10. PortraitProfessional.com This program was so much fun! You can play with it for FREE by clicking on the download tab, although you won’t be able to save your creations unless you purchase the program (on sale for $39.95 reduced from $89.95) You can easily and instantly retouch yourself to look like a model....and it’s even fun to go a bit too far and see what you would look like with too much plastic surgery. (If you download the free program, just be sure to uninstall the McAfee virus cleaner it also installs.)

The turnips, placed on windowsills, were believed to ward off evil spirits. In Scotland, young men would dress in white and blacken their faces in an imitation of the dead.

• On Nov. 6, 1854, John Philip Sousa, “The March King,” is born in Washington, D.C. Following the Civil War, Sousa served a seven-year apprenticeship in the Marine Band, then went on to compose 136 marches, including “The Washington Post” (1889) and “Stars And Stripes Forever” (1896). • On Oct. 31, 1892, “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes,” by Arthur Conan Doyle, is published. The book was the first collection of Holmes stories. University of Edinburgh teacher Dr. Joseph Bell partly inspired Doyle’s character Sherlock Holmes. • On Nov. 2, 1902, engineer Andrew Riker delivers the first four-cylinder, gas-powered Locomobile -- a 12-horsepower Model C made of manganese, bronze and heat-treated steel -- to a buyer in New York City. At $4,000, the elegant, luxurious touring car was built for wealthy patrons. • On Nov. 4, 1928, Arnold Rothstein, New York’s most notorious gambler, is shot and killed during a poker game at the Park Central Hotel in Manhattan. Police made arrests

after following his trail of blood back to a suite where a group of men were playing cards. • On Nov. 5, 1940, Franklin Delano Roosevelt is re-elected for an unprecedented third term as president of the United States, with the promise of maintaining American neutrality in foreign wars. The day after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Roosevelt requested, and received, a declaration of war against Japan. • On Nov. 1, 1959, Jacques Plante of the Montreal Canadiens becomes the first NHL goaltender to wear a full facemask. Despite the coach’s objection, Plante put his foot down, pointing out that he’d “already had four broken noses, a broken jaw, two broken cheekbones and almost 200 stitches” in his head. • On Nov. 3, 1976, “Carrie,” a horror film starring Sissy Spacek and based on Stephen King’s 1974 best-selling first novel, opens in theaters around the United States. The film tells the story of high-school outcast Carrie White, who uses her telekinetic powers to exact a violent revenge on her teenage tormenters on prom night. (c) 2011 King Features Synd., Inc.

FOOT SWELLING A SIGN OF HEART PROBLEMS? DEAR DR. DONOHUE: I have a problem with my feet swelling. They get so big that they hurt when I walk. My doctor is puzzled. He thinks maybe it’s due to my heart pills, but he can’t change them -- my heart doctor has to. I have had two heart attacks, bypass surgery and a defibrillator put in my chest. When I’m in bed, the swelling goes down to almost normal. When I am up, it returns, even if I am sitting. I’d appreciate any suggestions. -- E.L. ANSWER: I believe I’m safe in saying your problem is chronic congestive heart failure. Your heart is pumping so weakly that blood circulates sluggishly. When you’re up or when you’re sitting, gravity pulls fluid out of your leg’s vessels, and it is the cause of your swelling. In the horizontal position in bed, gravity doesn’t have this effect, and the fluid stays in blood vessels. The swelling is called edema (e-DEE-muh). Sugar can be Useful!

I love finding effective strategies from common items in my home. So many of us have forgotten or never knew remedies our grandmothers used, but they did use them for a reason - - they worked. Here are some of my favorite remedies - - Enjoy!

Sugar scrubs are found in high-end spas and most health food stores. They are so simple to make for you or give as gifts. Use 1 ½ cups sugar to 1 ¼ cups oil (almond oil or coconut oil is nice). You can also add your favorite essential oil (i.e., lavender or mint) to add a nice fragrance. Use in the shower or a nice hot bath. It exfoliates and smooths the skin!

Use those Eggs!

Baking Soda for those Meatballs

Take a small amount of egg white (raw), lightly stir it to break up the viscosity. Brush it on a clean face (all make-up removed). Leave on for 45 minutes or even overnight (you can’t see it!). Wash off. The egg white tightens the skin and leaves it firm, radiant

For people who are avoiding grains and still want to make meatloaf or meatballs, this tip works well. Use about 1 ½ tsp baking soda for one pound of meat. You can also rub some baking soda into meat before doing a stir-fry. It will help to tenderize the meat so you can use a less-expensive cut of meat.

Baby Food Doubles in Shakes and Muffins I love variety in my protein shakes (Vi Shake in our 90 Day Challenge), yet hate to open full can of pumpkin when I only need a tablespoon. When making a shake or muffins, use baby food. It is the right size and you don’t have waste. Read the label to ensure you are getting as little sugar as possible.

Our favorite, easy muffin is: 2 cups Vi Shake Protein powder (dry mix) 1 cups milk (or unsweetened almond milk) 1 ½ tsp baking powder Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Makes 12 muffins (gluten-free, high

protein). Great snacks! You can use pumpkin baby food or other flavors and add appropriate spice (i.e., pumpkin pie spice, apple pie spice). Great food, no waste!

Car Sickness Often ginger can help with any form of motion sickness. Try some candied ginger, ginger tea or even ginger capsules. Contact us at www.lifestyleforhealth. com for more lifestyle support! For additional information contact Dr. Cheryl at: 719-487-3171

SNIPPETZ : COMMUNITY CALENDAR ®

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR PERSONAL LIFE By Nick Yanez Hello there citizen. I know why you’re here. You read the title and thought, hey maybe this will tell me how to get my mortgage down, or save on insurance. That’s not the case. But what I’m about to recommend to you is actually much more important. I’m here to tell you it’s that time of year. It’s time to start thinking about this years’ holiday party. Whether it’s the office or the family, people need a place to celebrate. And YOU need to bring them the good times. Now, let’s lay out your options… Scenario number 1 – Your House. Not a good idea. You have to buy the food and prepare it. Then your newest employee/ most distant relative shows up who no one really wants there and brings his obnoxious son. His son gets into the liquor and the drunken twelve year old finds your baseball bat. He decides to remodel your basement, including that flat screen you got for yourself as an “early Christmas present”. The cops come and arrest you, as you are responsible on your property. After six years of trial and a scandal between your lawyer and a juror, you return home to a mess you must clean alone.

Better, but not quite there. While this does avoid the cooking and cleaning responsibility, it has a major affect on your wallet. You end up spending a whopping amount on food. And of course no offers to pitch in for the bill, no, they’ll help with the tip. Pfft, the tip. What’s the tip, 15%. That’s nothing. Not to mention the inevitable bored children at the table who start a food fight prompting the manager to visit your table several times. The embarrassments enough to go home early, but instead your stuck at the table discussing politics and religion with your Vice President/Father In-law who had his share of the wine. Scenerio number 3 – Pinz Bowling Center. Bingo! It’s the perfect place for your party. You don’t worry about preparation, as Pinz provides the room, lanes, and food for your needs. It’s also incredibly affordable while giving you classy options like Italian and Mexican Buffets. For the more casual crowd, it also can offer Friday night classics like Pizza and Wings. It’s great if you’re hosting kids, as they keep themselves and their energy occupied throwing strikes (or gutters) on the lanes. It’s more FUN than your other options, it has a full bar, yet it gives you distractions enough to avoid the drunken conversations. Pinz Bowling Center gives great service, great prices, and minimizes the chances of your night going astray. Hopefully you have taken this Important Information regarding your life and put it to good use in your brain. It’s never too early to book your date. Call Pinz at (719) 487-7469 and let the stress free holidays begin!

Scenerio number 2 – A nice restaurant.

T

he Lewis-Palmer District 38 ice hockey team is preparing to defend back to back state championships in the 2011-2012 season. The goal remains the same even though some of the faces have changed – compete at the highest level and make another state championship run. “This year’s team has high expectations to live up to. We lost 14 players from last year’s team through graduation and will be a very young team this year with only four Seniors. The previous two year’s senior classes enjoyed great success. But I am confident that this group will rise to the challenge. Head Coach Steve Fillo said. In addition to the four Seniors, Coach Fillo will have six Juniors and four Sophomores returning.

On Friday, November 18th, the team is hosting its 3rd Annual

Breakaway Hockey Event at the Sundance Mountain Lodge. This Charitable Banquet dinner is staffed by the players themselves and is chocked full of great auction items. To top off the evening, desserts donated from local restaurants and Chefs are auctioned off to the crowd. Proceeds of the event are used to purchase equipment, ice time, and other fees associated with the hockey program. Tickets are available by contacting Katherine Methot at cmethot@yahoo.com. Come see the Lewis-Palmer Hockey Team in action. Friday night is hockey night in Monument with games starting at 630pm at the Colorado Sports Center, 16240 Old Denver Highway in Monument. The schedule is attached so come out and support your Lewis-Palmer Ice Hockey Team as they defend their State Championship.

FALL INTO FALL F

ruits and vegetables are easier to come by in the summer months than in the fall and winter. But to stay healthy and ward off diseases, it’s important to include fruits and vegetables in your diet year-round. Here are some of the superstar fruits and vegetables of the fall and winter months. Sweet potatoes: They’re loaded with beta-carotene (which the body makes into vitamin A), vitamin C, potassium, fiber, iron and vitamin B-6. Sweet potatoes have more nutrients than regular white potatoes and can replace white potatoes in some recipes. Try them mashed, baked or as a dessert. Apples: A traditional fall favorite, apples are easy to find in the supermarket, or you can pick your own at a nearby orchard. They are a quick, easy snack and can be paired with peanut butter or cheese for protein. Apples contain antioxidants, which may help protect against certain cancers and reduce levels of LDL or bad cholesterol. Apples have vitamin C, vitamin K and fiber. Pumpkin: Pumpkin is a great source of beta carotene, a powerful antioxidant that is good for the eyes. They also contain potassium. Canned or prepared fresh pumpkin can be made into a variety of soups, baked goods and desserts. Broccoli: This is one vegetable that can be eaten raw or cooked, hot or cold, by itself or with other foods. Broccoli can help prevent cancer and heart disease, and boost the immune system. Nutrients in broccoli include vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin B-6, iron, calcium, magnesium and vitamin E. Green Beans: Green beans are high in vitamin K, which protects red blood cells and helps reduce the severity of asthma, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. They also contain vitamin C, potassium, folate, iron and magnesium. Spinach: Dark-green veggies contain a variety of nutrients a healthy body needs. Spinach is packed with vitamin A, vitamin K, iron, folate, magnesium, vitamin C, calcium, potassium, fiber and vitamin E. Spinach also has antioxidants and anti-cancer agents. Frozen or fresh spinach can be added to just about any meal. Try this wonderful recipe for Pecan Pork Chops with Pumpkin Apple Butter using these superstar fall fruits and vegetables.

You can use canned sweet potatoes that have been drained and mashed instead of pumpkin, if desired. Any remaining Pumpkin Apple Butter mixture will keep in the refrigerator for up to two weeks, or you can freeze it in an airtight container for up to three months. It’s also delicious on bread, pancakes or waffles. If you’re pressed for time, a good quality, commercially made jar of pumpkin butter also will work well. 1 (14-ounce) can pumpkin puree 1/2 cup apple juice 1/4 cup water 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar, stevia or agave syrup 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg or cloves 1 teaspoon ground ginger 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1/2 cup pecans 1/2 cup Panko whole wheat bread crumbs 8 (1/4 inch thick) boneless pork chops 1 egg, beaten with 3 tablespoons of water 1/4 cup oil for frying Whisk together pumpkin puree, apple juice, water, brown sugar, nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon in a saucepan until smooth. New DVD Releases for Week of October 31, 2011 PICKS OF THE WEEK

“Crazy, Stupid Love” (R) -- This movie goes to show that with the right cast and a decent script, romantic comedies actually can have substance. Cal (Steve Carell) loses his cool when his wife (Julienne Moore) confesses that she has cheated on him. During their separation, Cal’s ineptitude in the dating scene leads him to enlist the help of player and ace wingman, Jacob (Ryan Gosling). Carell’s comedy chops keep him loveable

as always. Gosling and Emma Stone have crazy chemistry as two fast-rising stars in the Hollywood hierarchy. Even for those with low tolerance, “Crazy, Stupid Love” keeps the cinema cliches and staggering sweetness to a minimum -- for the most part. Overall, the movie fights the formula and comes out as a fresh, charming romantic flick. “Water for Elephants” (PG-13) -- Circus life never looked so pretty. Or so melodramatic. Jacob (Robert Pattinson) is a veterinary student who takes up with a traveling circus and immediately falls for the boss’s wife (Reese Witherspoon). Of course, you’d want to rescue such a pretty girl if she were married to a villain worthy of portrayal by Christoph Waltz (the menacing Hans Landa from “Inglorious Basterds”). With the exception of Waltz’s bad guy, many of the performances feel a little stiff.

The visuals paint a landscape of fantastical and bucolic life in a bygone era. This pretty scenery gives the film a unique feel, and help to keep things engaging when the story runs a tad thin. “Cars 2” (PG) -- While this sequel fails to keep pace with its predecessor and its peers, it’s unlikely that true fans (read: the little ones) will notice. Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) are back, and this time they’re headed overseas to take part in the World Grand Prix. There’s also the matter of Mater’s extracurricular activities as a spy. The film stays within the Disney standard of quality, but falls well below the mark set by Pixar films to date. The story just doesn’t have the heart that audiences have come to expect. However, the visuals are still stunning, and the cars still talk, so “Cars 2” probably will still place high in

16

the race for a kid’s attention. “Scrooged” [Blu-ray] (PG-13) -- Bill Murray plays a narcissistic TV executive in this 1988 retelling of “A Christmas Carol.” Murray’s style takes the classic Scrooge archetype and makes him funny and loathable, but also wounded and human. Maybe it gets a bit too sappy at the end, but c’mon, it’s a Christmas movie that’s watchable every year.

nder what circumstances can you get your marriage annulled in Colorado? In Colorado an annulment is referred to as a declaration of invalidity. Your marriagee can be invalidated only under extremely limited circumstances.

You only have

ONE

There is a popular misconception that you can get your marriage invalidated if you only have been married for a short period of time, such a less than 90 days. Actually, the duration of your marriage has nothing to do with your eligibility for an annulment. There is no “get out of jail free card” just because you have been married for only a few months. Colorado statutes set out the requirements for invalidating marriages. The requirements for invalidating a marriage basically involve: lack of meaningful consent to be married (I was so drunk I didn’t know I was getting married.); marriage to an ineligible person (the proverbial redneck jokes – your sister, a twelve year old, etc.); the marriage involves a fraud that goes to the essence of the marriage (my wife didn’t marry me because she loved me, she married me to get my money and she lied about her circumstances to get me to marry her.). Marriage is serious business. There is no easy way out. You can’t get an annulment just because you have been married less than 90 days.
