ART IN ACTION
ABISPI: Gallery studio workshop events Communities across the country have learned to embrace the art economy to boost the quality of life for local artists and residents while simultaneously enhancing the vacation experience for visitors. The Art Business Incubator on South Padre Island strives to sustainably support the growth of art culture in our community by providing a comfortable and supportive learning environment for emerging local artists. The mission of this project is easier said than done but has implications that could benefit our local community for generations.
ABI SPI (pronounced “abbey,” SPI) sets out to “incubate” artists who have the desire to own and operate their own art-related business on South Padre Island. During this time, these emerging art-related entrepreneurs are granted access to their own studio space and gallery space, along with many other invaluable resources. These offerings are intended to lower the barriers to success and cushion the risks of early-stage business development as the artists test their product in

the market for the first time. There is a growing abundance of artists in the Rio Grande Valley, and SPI is excited to contribute to growing the art community!
