Money raised goes to restoration of Buckingham Square Park Committee Update: C. Ortiz reported that a schedule of maintenance needs to be created – Painting of the fence, planting, the layout etc. The plan will be presented at a future meeting.
Even though it will not be a dog park, we should consider posting one of those “Litter Pick up bag” receptacles. Mission Statement Update: C. Lowell requested feedback on the proposals regarding the mission statement and it will be discussed at the March meeting. Residential Parking Permit: J. Gordon provided an update on the proposed Residential Parking Permit for Buckingham, Whitman and Capitol Ave. A permit would cost $25 annually per car and parking without a permit would result in a $45 fine. There was much discussion that this proposal was not properly vetted among the community. There was a public hearing last summer but it wasn’t clear that SoDo would be a ‘test’ neighborhood. It was suggested that that we reach out to the Parking Authority and invite them to attend a future meeting and present. F. Sentner expressed this was not just a SoDo decision but an entire neighborhood decision. There was agreement that there was a misunderstanding that the permit was only in effect after a designated time. Also mentioned was that certain streets were not included: John Street and Linden Place. It’s important that we reach out to and get feed back from the city. Adjourn 6:40pm Submitted by M. Moriarty
