WEEK 3 READING: LEGER, LE CORBUSIER, AND PURISM
Question 1: What is Pictorial Space according to Le Corbusier? (Maximum 100 words) Pictorial Space is a flat representation of space that which cannot be entered or circulated through, it is irreformable space viewed from afar, and is eternally resigned to frontality. The terms of Le Corbusier’s pictorial frontality are three-fold. First, the objects are presented as pure extension and usually flat; second, the constellation of objects wedge together in that insistent continuity of edges; third, handling color and texture which gives attention to the inherent superficially of these “secondary qualities”. Therefore, the distance and depth does not matter when representing the space seperating one object and another in the real world.
Question 2: The Flatness of Le Corbusier’s painting’s are attributable to two properties. What are they? And what are these pitted against?(Maximum 100 words) Le Corbusier insists upon the stiff frontality of everything experienced from a distance and that frontality and distance together to allow knowledge of the real only by inference. These are pitted against another kind of knowledge one can have of proximate space by means of rotation through it. Hence, the counterpoint between frontality and rotation is the same as the contrast between ideation and experience.

MARIO’S WORLD
3
1ST MARIO’S WORLD
This is the projectionof the first Mario World using 2H pencil. I drew wisp of clouds to illustrate the layer of clouds present in the mario world so it would not cover most of the characters and still has the same layout when looking it from elevation.

COMBINED MARIO’S WORLD
This shows the combined Mario’s World and is drawn by 0.1 pt Fineline pen and 0.5pt Fineline pen for the cross-secrtional cut liens. This has the combination of both worlds and the empty spaces hiden in between the worlds are filled with extra characrters like the Mario and a river behind between them. Underneath the worlds has both underwater world and and underground world. Moreover, above the worlds, I have added some characters on top of the clouds playing around with vines.

WEEK 4 READING: TITLE OF READING Complete your reading before attempting these questions:
Question 1: Explain the difference between Pictoral (in this case perspectival) space and Projection? (Maximum 100 words) Pictorial space limits space, thus making it it finite and closed whereas projection operates to prolong and collapse distance. Projection on hte other hand, could transmit abstract information and is able to delineate the avant-garde’s vision of a new world. Thus, perpective records what already exists whereas axonometric projection constucts that which does not yet exist. Another difference is the absence of a vanishing point, the projectors do not converge but they are parallel. Moreover, in axonometric projection, not only infinite space but new concepts of time were made visible whereas perspective seemed to freeze in time and motion.
Question 2: Where did Axonometric projection first arise, and why? (Maximum 100 words) Axonometric projection was from ancient visual practice and was occured in a military context, where it originally used to chart the threedimensional trajectories of artillery projectiles. Then in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, axonometric drawings were taught in engineering schools and is closely related to mechanization and industrialization. On the other hand, axonometric projection in architecture extended the scientific and mathematical basis for architectural representation already initiated with the widespread of teaching using the descriptive of geometry.

ILLUSTRATED MARIO’S NEW WORLD
This is the final Mario World that is illustrated using Adobe Illustrator. Vibrant colours are used in this so that it would give out a joyful and fun atmosphere to the world and gives a harmonious vibe to it as well together with the Mario World characters taht are playing with each other. The colours tend to be calming and has a theraphetic function to it. Also, I have added some shadows to give the characters some depth and to produce a desirable outcome I wanted to achieve overall.
Underneath the worlds, I have added two extra worlds to it. First, is the underwater world which includes seaweeds, fish and a squid. I used a transperency technique to produce the bubbles so it will have more depth and be more realistic to the world. Secondly, I have added an underground world beneath the earth and included some of the main elements of Mario World which are coins and the brick blocks. I used a darker colour for the background of the world to give it a caving effect to the world.

APPENDIX
Equiments and materials used for the drawing of Mario World.
First, I set up my mounting board and tape the first mario world at an angle of 45 degrees at the top left corner of the mountiong board. Then, a piece of tracing paper was placed on top of the mario world and was aligned by drawing guidelines first and the characters were then being drawn on it.
After drawing the first Mario World, the second Mario World was then placed and taped at the bottom right corner of the mounting board aligned with the first Mario World. Then I overlay another piece of tracing paper on top of the first and started drawing the second Mario World.
