Dear Fellow Rotarians, This last issue of District Governor’s Bi-Monthly Letter for the Rotary year 2020 – 21 “Rotary Opens Opportunities” includes summarized reports from each of 6 District Committees as well as activities and photos from events,meetings and seminars that happened in this Rotary year.

District Governor’s Official Visits to Rotary clubs in Thailand gave me the opportunity to meet club members, learn about the characteristics and cultures of each club. I also experienced diversity, leadership and friendship as well as acknowledged many service projects that all clubs worked together for the communities. Club visits in Myanmar and Cambodia were done online via Zoom. I have also seen the determination and commitments of all clubs to carry out their activities that were in line with Rotary's guidelines.

I would like to appreciate and congratulate the achievements of all clubs in our District that have been great successes and met the respective club goals in all Rotary’s 5 Avenue of Service.

Such achievements have resulted our District to achieve the following: 1) Member Retention at 89.3 % 2) Chartered 1 Rotary Satellite Club and 1 community-based Rotaract club 3) Completed 104 Global Grant projects and 19 District Grant projects 4) Total donations to the Rotary Foundation of USD 771,226 Despite the epidemic situation that has affected our lives all year round, the above achievements prove that we are indomtable to obstacles and challenges. Instead, it motivates us to bring out more of our abilities and potential. Many clubs

provided food and necessities to affected people, providing protective equipment and supplies to medical workers, and many other service projects that were not initially set in the club goals.

The final project that was completed at the end of the 116th Rotary year (front cover photo) was the fundraising campaign fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic. The fund was collected from Rotarians in District 3350 with their families and friends who jointly donated Electronic Impedance Tomography (EIT) to Phramongkutklao Hospital and Chulalongkorn Hospital.

This medical device will help doctors diagnose the lung performance of patients with severe pneumonia to consider better and appropriate adjustment of the ventilator. We started accepting donations from 10 May to 30 June 2021, and the total donation was 3,750,000 Baht. The payment was made for 2 EIT machines at 3,400,000 Baht. For the remaining money of 350,000 Baht, it was used to buy 5 medical sprayers to provide to these two hospitals as well I would like to take this opportunity to send my sincere gratitude to Past RI President Bhichai Rattakul, Past RI Director Prof. Dr. Saowalak Rattanavich, and all Past District Governors for all advices and suggestions throughout the past 1 year, and sincere thanks to all the district committees for taking the time and dedication to work for our district. Lastly, sincere thanks to all Club Presidents for the cooperation in bringing members to participate in various activities in the district.

Our future ค ม ล ก ล ย แล ย มรบก รเรยกร งเร่ งค ม ล ก ล ย ค มเ ม ภ ค will depend on reaching new groups of people we have traditionally แล ก ร ยร มกน น คตข งเร จ ข้น ยกบก รเข ถงกลมคนใ มๆ ท่เร ม ง overlooked. And we must do this while making sure that everyone we ข มไป แล เร ต งทํ ่งน้ในขณ ท่ทํ ใ แนใจ ทกคนท่เร ดงดดใ เข โรต ร entice into Rotary joins a club where they fit and belong. จ เข เปน ม ชก โม รท่พ กเข เ ม มแล ร กเปน น น่งข ง งคกร I encourage you to remain active advocates for change across Rotary. ผมข งเ รมใ คณยงคง นบ นนก รเปล่ยนแปลงท่ ท้งโรต ร ย งต เน่ ง This means taking the new tools that we embraced during the pandemic น่ ม ยถงก รนํ เคร่ งม ใ มท่เร นํ ม ใชในช งก รร บ ดแล ธท่จ ทํ ใ and finding a way to make them a permanent part of what we do. It also เคร่ งม เ ล น้เปนเคร่ งม ถ รข ง ่งท่เร ทํ น กจ กน้ ยง ม ยถงก รคด means rethinking everything about our organization – and looking for ทบท นทก ย งเก่ย กบ งคกรข งเร แล ม ง โ ก ในทกค มท ท ย opportunities in every challenge we confront. ท่เร เผชญ Rotary is not just a club that you join, it is an invitation to endless โรต รไมใชแค โม รท่คณเข ร ม แตเปนคํ เชญ โ ก ท่ไม น้ ด opportunities. แล ย งท่ผมพดไป ล ยคร้งแล -- แล เช่ ม กก ท่เคย -- ทก ่งท่เร ทํ And as I have said many times before -- and believe more now than ever เปดโ ก ใ ใครบ งคน ท่ไ น กแ ง ข ข บคณ ํ รบก รแบงปนโ ก น้ด ยกน -- everything we do opens an opportunity for someone, somewhere.

In a year serving as the District Secretary, a position with many tasks and even began before the Rotary year, I worked with fun and happiness. Every time I was able to solve problems or find solutions to clubs with problems or questions. I have communicated closely with Club Presidents, Club Secretaries, Assistant Governors and Rotarians in the District, experiencing good fellowship, understanding various problems, and most importantly, got to know new good projects from many clubs that have already accomplished as well as those that are about to happen. A major obstacle to this task is the means of communications between clubs and the District in order for all clubs to get up to date with news from the District, ต งข ข บคณทกท นท่ไดใ ค มร มม เปน ย งดในปท่ผ นม ท ใ ก ร because each club has different platforms for receiving news – ท ง นเปนไป ย งร บร่น เปนปร โยชนต โม ร ท ใ ผมไดทบท นภ รกจ some clubs are convenient to contact via Line, some use ท่ไดท ไปแล ไรท่จ เปนปร โยชนต งคม โดยเฉพ ย งย่งชมชนข งท น E-mail or some use phone calls. ผมข นบ นนใ ท นลงม ท ย งเต็มท่ เม่ เ ล ผ นไป แล ท นจ ร กภมใจ เม่ ไดมโ ก ย นกลบม ดค ม เร็จ I would like to thank all of you for your cooperation in the past Rotary year, making tasks completed smoothly and benefited all ผมภมใจท่ไดร มง นกบทกท น โดยเฉพ ในช ง ถ นก รณ ก รแพรร บ ด the clubs. Rotary Foundation DRFC PDG.Nakarin Ratanakitsunthorn 2020 – 23 District Rotary Foundation Chair First of all, I would like to express my congratulations to all 2020–21 Club Presidents and Club Committees as well as all fellow Rotarians for the successes and accomplishments in running their respective Rotary clubs and implementing useful service projects and activities to help communities and societies in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic and continuous economic downturn. I believe all of your projects were greatly beneficial and met the needs of all beneficiaries. Within the past Rotary year (1 July 2020 – 30 June 2021) under the leadership of DG Somsri Mekthon as District Governor of our District 3350 RI, we have done countless number of service projects – whether small ones that used only cash or big ones through District Grant and Global Grant projects. Moreover, we have made contributions to the Rotary Foundation through many available funds such as Annual Fund, PolioPlus Fund, and Endowment Fund.

District 3350 Rotary Foundation Committee Members and I would like to thank AG Srifa Siriudomseth, District Grant Chair, for her dedication, sacrifice, attentiveness and responsible to the assigned tasks, and have achieved great success and outcome.

District Scholarship Report for 2020 – 21 DG Somsri Mekthon and DRFC PDG Nakarin Ratanakitsunthorn have allocated District Designated Fund (DDF) worth US$15,000 for providing scholarships to nursing assistants and nurses through a District Grant project. Each scholarship worth 10,000 Baht – comprising of support from the Rotary Foundation 5,000 Baht and support from other individual (as a Rotarian or as a Rotary club) 5,000 Baht. For a supporting Rotarian, he or she can take the receipt to use as tax deduction as well.

The reason why we support the scholarships for nursing assistants and nurses is because Thailand is still in a crisis of Covid-19 epidemic, and medical personnel are critically important in the fight against this epidemic.

This Rotary year we have given the total of 99 scholarships to 9 Nursing Colleges namely Kuakarun Faculty of Nursing, Royal Thai Army Nursing College, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Boromrajonani College of Nursing Napparat Vajira, Boromarajonani College of Nursing Nonthaburi, Saint Louis College, Police Nursing College and Mahidol University. Of 99 scholarships, 10 scholarships were supported by 4 Past District Governors and the rest of 89 scholarships were supported by 26 Rotary clubs. The scholarships that we gave to nursing assistants and nurses may not worth much, but they could help reduce the burden of expenses of these nursing assistants and nurses. Moreover, the giving of scholarships also acts as the medium of encouragement and as a good example of giving without expecting any returns of us, Rotarians.

2020-21 Public Image and Communication PP.Preecha Klinkaeo 2020-21 Pubic Image and Communication Chair

Starting from the day I have received an Appointment Letter from DGE Somsri Mekthon (position at that time) to be in charge of Rotary Public Image of District 3350 in 2020 – 21, I began my planning andpreparation.

The first thing to consider was the outcome or the final goal of this mission. From the latest Vision Statement of Rotary and Action Plan, we were able to see our destination and path we were to take. Then, we began to form our committee structure to make our goals completed and achieved. Without prerequisites or samples from past years, we started from scratch. Firstly, we invited senior Rotarians in our District to be advisors, and invited PP Pongsak Canthasaksiri and PP Yuwadee Pitawiwatananon to help. After that, we divided our committee into 5 subcommittees 1. Internal Service Communication, chaired by PP Trong Sangswangwattana 2. Public Service Communication, chaired by PP Likit Limrojruay 3. Rotary Public Image Management which covered District 3350 Website Management, Chaired by PP Phanu Yoshmetha 4. District Award - Outstanding Public Image, chaired by Rtn Somphong Raksarat 5. Rotary Public Image Resources, chaired by PP Virat Ngamkam.

All levels of Rotary tasks require collaborations and participations. Therefore, we need to hold committee meetings consistently to discuss and exchange ideas in order to take meeting resolutions into actual actions. I have to thank and express my graditude to PDG Vutthichai Wanglee and DGE Somsri Mekthon (position at that time) for supporting the committee members with a meal as a drive for a good start of District 3350 Public Image and Committee this Rotary year.

The first task that we did was at the Pre

Presidents-elect Training Seminar (Pre-PETS) on 8-9 February 2020 at Chachoengsao Province. The seminar allowed Club Presidents of the year “Rotary Opens Opportunities” to understand the basics of public image and how importance it is to Rotary, as well as the District 3350 Plan on Public Image and Communication. After that, the Covid-19 Pandemic in the country has worsen and made District 3350 unable to organize the scheduled physical District Training Assembly (DTA). Hence, the DTA had been done virtually on 9 May 2020 with the support from True Digital Park as a venue and provided us necessary tools to broadcast the virtual training. I sincerely thank TRUE for this, and also thank VBAC Ramindra of President Siamrat Sintarabodee for video recording the training on Public Image.

As we began the Rotary year 2020-21, the pandemic started to get better. District 3350 has organized District Public Image and Communication Seminar, jointly with District Membership Seminar, on 1 August 2020 at Miracle Grand and Convention Center, Bangkok. There were Club Presidents, Club Public Image Chairs and Rotarians interested in the event more than expected. At this seminar, PP Supachai Hansuebsai, member

Senders did not have to go to every Line groups they have, and Readers did not have to search for news from different Line groups because they could not remember where the news came from – just come to this “Read News” Line group. It turned out that this approach has become more popular with the number of Rotarians continuously increasing in the “Read News” Line group.

In the seminar, Internal Service Communication Subcommittee announced the improvement of the District Communication System to be at a single point in order to reduce fellow Rotarians’ time to receive information within the District. If you want to send news, send it into “Send News” Line group (Send only) and the Subcommittee will forward to “Read News” Line group (read only) for all Rotarians in the District to read. This was how all news within the District was gathered in one place.

For District Governor’s Monthly Letter, District Governor has inserted as part of Internal Communications this Rotary year and had PP Suvimol Phirapatdit as the editor.

Moreover, District Governor had the policy to change from monthly issues to bimonthly issues. With such changes, it is considered to be a challenging task and a historical record of our District in the year of Rotary Opens Opportunities.

For the District website, the Rotary Public Image Management Subcommittee has adopted the URL www.rotary3350.org and made lots of improvements to it in order to make it as worth and as beneficial as it can be for our District. It will be used as a base for public relations communication with outsiders as well as to serve as a database for Rotarians in the District. Therefore, the design was made in accordance with the guidelines of the website of Rotary International.

However, the development of the website is a job that takes time due to the technical complexity that cannot be completed quickly, and the need for further development is endless,justlikeRIwebsitethatthe improvement continues to take place today.
