We are looking forward to the events coming up in September and October when the temperature outside starts to cool down a little. See this issue for those ads. Please tell them you saw their ad in Southern Biker Magazine. This has been a brutal summer and if you work outside, my hat is off to you. I would never make it outside during the daytime; I already have my own internal heat source (I refer to it as my internal combustion engine) and external heat added to that makes it tough. What did people do before air conditioning? Just thankful I was born when I was. Stay cool my friends! “Keep Your Knees In The Breeze!”© Kristin “Ms. Mag Man” Gracy

Harley-Davidson 115th in Prague By The Mag Man, Randy Gracy
P
rior to the BIG 115th Party in Milwaukee August 29th, Harley-Davidson celebrated their 115th Anniversary with a party in Europe in the city of Prague with 110,000 attendees. Bill and Karen Davidson welcomed riders from 77 different countries and had over 100 H-D dealers participating from as far away as Moscow, Lisbon, Naples and Trondheim. Over 67,500 motorcycles flooded the city of Prague and over 4,000 H-D riders took part in the parade. Over 3,500 credentials were issued for people working or performing at the event. Trevor Barton, EMEA H-D CE Manager said attendance surpassed expectations by 10%. “All motorcyclists were welcome and it was four days of fun, music and riding in and around beautiful Prague. What a great feeling”, he said. Visitors were able to view the Harley-Davidson Historic display, which took event-goers on an interactive 115-year tour of iconic machines, the custom gallery had 45 stunning custom bikes from Europe’s best bike builders displayed, demo rides and the H.O.G Village. H-D has a 100-year history with Czechoslovakia. Prague is also home to the world’s oldest HarleyDavidson club, Harley-Davidson Club Praha, which has been in existence for 90 years. Milwaukee should be a huge event so make you plans for August 29 – September 2.
Custom Harley-Davidson
Heritage Wins Award in Prague
By Chris Bienkiewicz Game Over Cycles/Harley-Davidson Rzeszów
B
uilt in 2014, Game Over Cycles/ Harley-Davidson Rzeszów, the biggest Harley-Davidson dealership in Poland and Central-Eastern Europe took a Harley-Davidson Heritage and turned it into a masterpiece and re-named it the Recidivist. In Prague, at the 115th H-D Anniversary for Europe, the machine won the 2018 Custom Gallery which is the most prestigious global exhibition of motorcycle customization whose heart is the American V-Twin and its derivatives. This machine is inspired by the art of permanent body adornment. Motorbikes are commonly adorned with tattoo motifs using an airbrush, however the uniqueness of The Recidivist lies in the fact that the bike’s entire construction 8 - Southern Biker Magazine
is covered in tattooed skin branded directly onto the bike’s tires, tanks, seat, rear fender, lamp and many other smaller elements. Light colored cow hide leather, similar to the color of human skin, is engineered onto the bike. Artists from Polish tattoo studios applied traditional works of tattoo art onto the bike. All that makes The Recidivist the world’s first tattooed motorcycle. The motorcycle’s construction includes elements that draw from the look of tattoo machines. All these parts are fully operational elements of bike’s construction, and the mechanisms of these elements operate in the same way they do in the original tattoo machines. The Recidivist’s sidecar was created in
2017 and had its world premiere at the 2017 Sturgis Rally. The sidecar is fully tattooed, both outside and inside and also on the tires. Construction of the motorcycle and sidecar took 3,000 hours. Tattooing of the bike and sidecar took over 2,500 hours. For more information on specs, awards and production information on the Recidivist, go to www.gameovercycles.pl. August 2018

Mt. Cheaha Harley-Davidson Hosts
BIKINI COAST INTERNATIONAL CONTEST
By The Mag Man, Randy Gracy
M
t. Cheaha Harley-Davidson is an awesome destination for when you are riding thru Alabama. There are lots of things to do around the area including attending on of Mt. Cheaha H-D’s bike nights. Recently Mt. Cheaha H-D hosted the prestigious Bikini Coast International contest. Several contestants were competing for the top title and the crowd was not disappointed with the show. Bikini Coast International isn’t an open contest. You have to register on their site and get approved for the contests at specific locations. At Mt. Cheaha H-D, the girls were thrilled to be there and as you can see, competition was extremely tough. There’s nothing like having a bike night and being entertained by beautiful women.

‘Nooga Strong By The Mag Man, Randy Gracy
F
our Marines and one sailor were killed in Chattanooga, Tennessee by a radical muslim on July 16, 2015. Terrorism came to America, to Tennessee, to Chattanooga. Sadness and anger flowed over not just the Chattanooga community, but worldwide. Today, the memory of that day still resonates hard in the community by witnessing the ride for the fallen soldiers. Over 900 riders participated in the ride to remember those soldiers and they rode to honor these men, their families and the sacrifice our soldiers made and are still making today. Proud Americans rode their motorcycles from White Lightning Harley-Davidson to the National Cemetery where the fallen soldiers were laid to rest. Several out of town riders also attended this ride. Red, white & blue were the colors for the day. Tim Chambers, the saluting Marine, was also in attendance and showed resounding respect for all the riders as they passed him on their way into the cemetery. During the ceremony, several songs were dedicated to the soldiers and there were also the bagpipes, a 21 gun salute, taps played and a fly over. It was a very humbling experience and awesome show of respect. I am the father of two Marines, my brother-in-law is a retired two-star General, my nephew is a Captain in the US Army and my daughter-in-law is a US Navy veteran. I can go on and on, just like many of you can. We are all proud Americans and will help defend this country till the end. We just never expected terrorism to hit here at home... this close. I went to college, raised a family, coached little league and made lifelong friends, but I too would have never thought something like this was possible. Many of our politicians wait in the wings to see if something is politically correct but thank God we have a President that is strong in eyes of our enemies and makes sure America is FIRST. I’m very proud of the city of Chattanooga and the surrounding area citizens to never forget these soldiers. We all learned lessons from this and other acts of terrorism. This Tennessee city is truly…‘NOOGA STRONG!

Travis Pastrana
Honors Evel Knievel Successfully
By The Mag Man, Randy Gracy
T
ravis Pastrana successfully performed three of Evel Knievel’s greatest jumps in one night and honored the legend in spectacular fashion. With a crowd of 25,000(+) and millions watching around the world, Pastrana delivered on all three jumps while setting world records. Riding a Roland Sands design-prepared Indian Scout FTR750, Pastrana made it a memorable night for all fans including many Knievel fans. In his first jump, Pastrana soared over 52 crushed cars and landed softly on the landing ramp with a distance of 143 feet, beating Evel’s record by 23 feet. His second
jump, a mere sixteen buses and again, Travis jumped to a record 192 feet. He was making these challenges seem way too easy. His third and final jump of the evening was at the infamous Caesar’s Palace fountains where Evel’s jump ended in a horrific crash breaking several bones many years ago. I remember watching Evel’s jump on TV as a child. This jump had been done by riders on dirt bikes, but it had never been done on a V-Twin. Travis jumped in the opposite direction Evel did due to new buildings being added on the grounds. He landed hard but managed to stay upright for a thrilling end to a historic evening. The spectacle that was Evel Live lived up to the hype. But the question remains, will the Nitro Circus daredevil attempt bigger more spectacular jumps in the future? This writer thinks so. Stay tuned.
MOTORCYCLES ON THE BIG SCREEN By The Mag Man, Randy Gracy
W
hile motorcycle sales have dipped a little, they are getting more popular in the movies. There are many reasons for this; one big reason is that many actors and actresses ride motorcycles and more are riding every year. Movie makers are getting on the motorcycle craze and including what people love. There is not much more love of material possessions than the love of a motorcycle and riding.
Ducati Scrambler
BMW R NineT Scrambler
The newest editions to the big screens are the Triumph Truxton R in the Ant-Man & Wasp Marvel movie. Next would be Tom Cruise’s adventures in the Mission Impossible series with him riding a BMW R Nine T Scrambler. Yet another new Marvel comic movie, Venom, features its actor riding a Ducati Scrambler. For whatever reason you chose to think, motorcycles are coming into the mainstream movies and may have an effect on sales. With young movie goers watching these movies, could it have a positive effect on them by getting them into the motorcycle market? Only time will tell… 14 - Southern Biker Magazine

Junebug Boogie,
WHAT A PARTY By The Mag Man, Randy Gracy
T
he Junebug Boogie turned 17 years old but only folks 21 and over can attend. Ya just never know how much fun you can have until you attend a June Bug Boogie. It is touted as the largest outdoor party for adults there is in Tennessee and trust me‌ IT IS! The newly extended and manicured campground facility was loaded with attendees and folks just ready to get their party on. Campers, tents, RVs and more covered the entire facility. Up on vendor row, you could get everything from food to leather products. There were also the biker games and contests that held folks in competition with each other for those coveted etched trophy mugs. Herbert & Amber seem to come up with a new game each rally and it brings out the best (or worst) in those competing. The new 2018 Mr. & Ms. Junebug were crowned before a huge audience. The burnout pit garners larger crowds every year and this year there were about 400 people hoping to see some gnarly tires pop. The weather was perfect and every day you could catch some folks in mini-pools to cool off a little more. To get from one side to the other, folks walked, rode their motorcycles or golf carts. Some of the carts were pretty tricked out and looked great. Musical entertainment was at a premium with likes of Skipper Grace, 4 Miles Gone, Jolt, Whey Jennings, Ali Randolph and Titanium Blue. Comedians Bag Lady Sue and ventriloquist Crystal Birdwell had the crowd in stitches for hours. Herbert and Amber put on one heck of show (as they always do) and I think everyone went away with lots of great memories. (Some might want to forget a few‌ LOL). The Southern Biker Road Crew was well represented and our newlyweds Frank & Tina Pate took care of the photos along with Biker Bob from USA Biker Parties. The Boogie Too is just around the corner (Sept 27-30) so pack your motorcycles, trailers, tents and trucks and come on!
