Imagine being a couple and having your first child; taking him home, but getting a phone call that he is in peril. Dalton and Kayla Fry is that couple. The hospital informed the couple that Archer’s blood tested positive for a rare genetic disorder and he would need to return to Children’s Hospital immediately. Archer has since begun his fight to live. Currently there is no cure for his disorder and we are praying desperately for a cure. Between both Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville and Children’s Hospital in Knoxville, the tremendous bills of medical, travel and time off for the parents are mounting. Please help us as we help Archer fight his battle. Archer also needs your prayers; we would love to see God send a miracle Archer’s way. See you at Ridge Runners Bar & Grill. Upgrade your pet’s life. Boundary Plus® Technology means bigger freedom in smaller areas

• This exclusive technology delivers up to 30% more yard space allowing your dog (or cat) to safely play right up to the yard’s edge. It’s the perfect fit for unique or small lots and tight spaces.

Virtual endless boundary

• Prevents any “breakthrough” where pets run beyond the signal’s reach, leaving no room for escape.

Zero unintentional yard lock-outs

• Other systems can confuse pets if they “breakthrough” the boundary and try to reenter, emitting a correction and stopping them from coming home. Boundary Plus® containment ensures this can’t happen!

WORDS FROM THE PUBLISHER

Hi Fellow Riders, Welcome to the Dog Days of Summer! Wow! When is it going to cool down? Hope you are able to find activities that cool you down, like riding to Bald River Falls in Tellico Plains, TN and enjoy the cool waterfalls. You can stop along the river, bring your camp chair, a picnic and enjoy the outdoors and stay cool. Monroe County TN has so many great motorcycle routes, like the beginning of the Cherohala Skyway which takes you to North Carolina and catch the Dragon’s Tail for a great day of riding. Stop in at great restaurants like Tellico Beach, Iron Works Grill, Tellico Kats Deli, all located along beautiful Tellico River. You can stop in Cherohala Harley-Davidson across from Iron Works Grill for a great selection of Harley attire. If you are looking for a great state park with water access, check out Indian

Airbnbs are typically less expensive than hotels and much nicer facilities in most cases. If you are looking for the best bacon on this plant, stop in Benton’s Smoky Mountain Country Hams at 2603 US-411, Madisonville TN. They have Benton’s Bacon, the best bacon I have ever tasted! Harley partnering with Qianjiang By The Mag Man, Randy Gracy

“ We’re excited about this opportunity to build more Harley riders in China, one of the world’s largest motorcycle markets, by creating new pathways to our brand.” Matt Levatich, Harley-Davidson president and CEO

to Build Small Motorcycles for China Market

H

arley-Davidson confirmed an agreement has been reached to produce motorcycles for the Chinese market with their new partner, Qianjiang, Ltd. Qianjiang is majority controlled by Geely, a Chinese company that also owns Volvo. The new motorcycles will be arriving in late 2020 and later to be sold in nearby markets like India. H-D plans to increase sales by having 50% of its total sales in international markets. Harley chose Qianjiang because of their experience building small, premium motorcycles. Qianjiang currently produces Benelli motorcycles, which are designed in Italy and built in China. This 338 cc, more affordable motorcycle would replace the Street 500 as Harley’s most inexpensive attainable option. It could also be just the first of others models to come out of this partnership. Like all Harley-Davidson products, this new model will embody a distinctive look, sound and feel that will spark powerful connections with riders. This collaboration marks significant progress toward another major milestone in the More Roads to Harley-Davidson accelerated plan for growth. “HarleyDavidson has always been about inspiring riders around the world. Our More Roads plan is all about bringing our brand of freedom to more people, in more places, in more ways,” said Matt Levatich, president and chief executive officer, Harley-Davidson. “We’re excited about this opportunity to build more Harley riders in China, one of the world’s largest motorcycle markets, by creating new pathways to our brand.” All Harley-Davidsons sold in the United States will continue to be built domestically. But a small, affordable Harley for the world market and even the US market could be a huge hit for H-D. It would be just another way to get younger folks riding… and riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Link: Harley Davidson, Revzilla

79 th Sturgis Rally Completed Some Bucket Lists T

here’s nothing like a motorcycle rally, especially when well over 300,000 like minded folks show up with you. Sturgis, SD played host to the 79th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, one of the largest motorcycle rallies in the world. It lasts ten days and has lots of famous places to ride to, lots of places to visit

and a mega-amount of live entertainment for all of the folks that come to this event. From downtown Sturgis, to the Buffalo Chip to the Full Throttle Saloon to the Iron Horse Saloon, 250+ top acts came to entertain the masses; Keith Urban, Toby Keith, Brett Michaels, George Thorogood & the Destroyers, Jamey Johnson, Skid Row, Molly Hatchet, Jasmine Cain, STYX, Collective Soul, Foghat, Jackyl and many more! There were tons of bike shows, charity rides, contests and so many more things to do that ten days just isn’t enough time to do half of it. Most just plan one event a day and let the rest of the day flow with it by whatever they pass by. Some of the 14 - Southern Biker Magazine

best charity rides included The Legends Ride, the Biker Belles Ride, The Green Knights Veteran’s Ride and Carey Hart’s Good Ride. In the Kirsh Helmets’ Paint Slinger Shootout contest, my good friend Jodi Perewitz took first place honors. Rain hit the event again this year with a little flooding, but quickly dried up so that everyone could have a grand ol’ time. According to final numbers, attendance was down a little over last year, but the ones that came had blast (some a little too much as arrests were up for DUI, wrecks and public disturbances). Many people claimed that their bucket lists were scratched off by one or two numbers by riding to or visiting places in the area like Mount Rushmore, the Badlands, Deadwood, the Crazy Horse Memorial, Needles Hwy, Devil’s Tower and the wild buffalo at Custer State Park. Riding the roads and site seeing around Sturgis is something that only those who have come can explain… it’s just awesome. I’ve been to Sturgis once and wait for the day to return to see what has changed since my visit. My wife, Kristin, has never been. Everyone says it’s different now. I guess I’ll have to put this back on my bucket list to visit the NEW Sturgis Motorcycle Rally with her. Next year is the 80th Anniversary of the rally… see you there!

Indian Motorcycle & Jack Daniels Open the LYNCHBURG GARAGE I

ndian Motorcycle, America’s first motorcycle company, announced the grand opening of Lynchburg Garage, a new motorcycle and merchandise store that celebrates the history of two iconic American brands, Indian Motorcycle and Jack Daniel’s. Located in downtown Lynchburg, Tennessee, just down the street from Jack Daniel’s Distillery, Lynchburg Garage is a must-stop destination for tourists and motorcyclists alike. Inspired by the storied history of Indian Motorcycle and Jack Daniel’s, Lynchburg Garage represents a new chapter for Indian Motorcycle as the brand expands its reach into apparel and merchandise outlets. Inside, guests can grab a refreshment and relax in the Hospitality Lounge, and grab some Indian Motorcycle and Jack Daniel’s Branded Merchandise plus Exclusive Lynchburg Garage Gear. Additionally, motorcycle rentals will be available starting in September for rides to experience Indian Motorcycle’s latest model year lineup. Indian Motorcycle lifestyle apparel and co-branded Jack Daniel’s gear is also available for purchase. President of Indian Motorcycles Steve Menneto said the partnership has been in the talking stages for five years. It’s the first shop combining Jack Daniel’s and Indian. “We had to start in Lynchburg,” Menneto said. “Five years ago Steve May and Dave Stang of Jack Daniel’s approached us and asked if we had any interest in coming to the square. We said absolutely, whenever you’re ready. Eighteen months ago, we got the word that it looks like a go. It’s a great combination of two brands known for their craftsmanship and working with the Sloan family is great.” Sloan Motorcycles of Murfreesboro, Tenn., which has been in business for 60 years, is managing the daily operations. Curtis Sloan, the president Sloan Motorcycles said, “We’ll stock it and maintain the brand standards of these two great companies.” “Jack Daniel’s has been an incredible partner over the past several years, and we’re extremely excited to bring a taste of Indian Motorcycle to Lynchburg,” said Reid Wilson, Senior Director for Indian Motorcycle. “Although a small town, Lynchburg is a critical piece of American history and a popular destination for tourists traveling to Nashville, and now with Lynchburg Garage, visitors will also have an opportunity to engage with the Indian Motorcycle brand and its history.”

They will be honored as part of 2019 AMA Legends & Champions Weekend in Columbus, Ohio, Dec. 6-7. “Each year, the success of the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship is made possible by the support and partnership the AMA receives from MX Sports,” AMA Racing Director Kevin Crowther said. “The team at MX Sports does an outstanding job as the organizer of this great event.”
