We are a family-oriented magazine that is distributed throughout the southeastern United States and covers motorcycle events and news. It is a female-owned business that encourages women in any aspect of motorcycles whether owning their own bike or riding as a passenger. We cover ALL types of motorcycles! We love all motorcycles! We are familyoriented partly because we want kids to read our magazine and learn about motorcycles from an early age so they can become motorcycle riders when they are old enough and become customers of yours. 2nd Annual Marine’s Toys For Tots By Marta Rose

he Second Annual Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots of Bay County, FL was a huge success. In attendance were 107 bikes, more than double the first year, left Harley-Davidson of Panama City Beach, escorted by the Panama City Beach and Bay County Police up Highway 231 to their final destination for food and festivities. This year the group gathered over 10 large bins of toys for local children in Bay County.

2015 Harley-Davidson® CVO™ Road Glide® Ultra By Smokin’ Joe Ball

previously owned a 2011 CVO™ Road Glide® Ultra that at the time I thought was one of the best handling Ultra models I had ever ridden. Each year the anticipation grew as I waited for the new models to be released but to my disappointment the CVO™ Road Glide® Ultra never made the line-up. Then in 2013 the MOCO announced that there would be no Road Glide® for the 2014 model year but was going to be released again in 2015, so I quickly put my name on the waiting list. At the Sturgis rally, riders got the first look at the 2015 Road Glide® Special and Standard models and it appeared that those were the only two models available. Both of these are based on Project Rushmore models but without the Twin Cooling. The day of the dealer show arrived and to the surprise of many (not me, of course)

Project Rushmore added another model to its stable, the 2015 CVO™ Road Glide® Ultra.

The color I decided on, Carbon Metallic custom paint Dust/ Autumn Sunset, would not be available until October, so over the next month or so the new parts started to cover the work bench in the garage. TTS Tuner, Fullsac DX pipe, 2.25 Fullsac muffler cores, Custom Dynamics LEDs and Triple Play modules, Klockwerks Sport Tint windshield, Curved License Plate, Hidden AM/FM and CB antennas to name a few. WOW! This bike has everything that we saw with the release of the Project Rushmore models in 2014. Twin Cooled high output

Twin Cam 110 cubic inch engine, 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission, BOOM™ Box 6.5 infotainment system with its 6.5-inch full color touch screen, SirusXM, bike to bike communication, voice control, navigation, Reflex Antilock Braking System (ABS) with dynamically, electronically linked brakes for optimum stopping in all conditions, heated seat, heated grips, redesigned saddlebags and tour pack now open with a onetouch latch. So many extra features it’s hard to list them all.

The bike went directly from the dealership to the house where it was immediately pulled apart to install all the new goodies. It was quite apparent on the ride home that I had made the right decision trading in my newly purchased 2014 CVO™ Ultra Limited. January, 2015

2015 Harley-Davidson® CVO Road Glide Ultra After a few days in the garage installing the accessories, it was time to take it out and put the bike through its paces. I decided to take a more scenic ride that included the Foothills Parkway and Hwy 360 from Vonore to Tellico Plains. I found that it handled superbly; digging in on the corners like it was on a rail. I believe the better handling is primarily due to the beefier front suspension combined with the low profile Premium ride shocks front and rear that I added. One of the complaints from riders of the previous models was the buffeting of the air around your face/ helmet. This is no longer an issue.

With the addition of the vents the air streams are directed to the each side and top of your helmet. The hand controls take a little to get used to but allow the rider access to many additional functions. As with most new technology, there are issues that need to be worked out, but these are mostly software related with the new Infotainment system. If I could change one thing, it would be to put the CB PTT (Push To Talk) back on the left handlebar as it was in previous years. On straight roads you get used to it relatively quickly, but it is definitely challenging to operate on curvy roads, and it is a complaint I have heard from others. This motorcycle is hands down better handling than the previous CVO™ Road Glide® Ultra. Well, hopefully I’ll keep this one for more than a

---continued year, but if in 2016 we see a 120 cubic inch motor then all bets are off.

Stewart Suspended from Supercross & Motocross, Plans Appeal By The Mag Man, Randy Gracy

outhern Biker Magazine learned before going to press that a decision has been reached in the James Stewart case with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the FIM. Stewart who has ADHD did not file the Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) paperwork for his doctor-prescribed medication Adderall which contains the drug amphetamine. That drug is prohibited by FIM, the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (International Motorcycling Federation). This case dates back to April of 2014 when Stewart took an anti-doping test and it was found positive. According to Stewart’s Yoshimura Suzuki team, the FIM penalty affects the entire 2015 season for James, which would mean he has been declared ineligible for competition for Monster Energy Supercross and Lucas Oil Pro Motocross. An appeal is in

the process but for now, he’s barred from racing anywhere. “Let me get this straight. You can ride with an illegal, modified bike and only get your points taken away (RC4 illegal fuel). But if you ride with a doctor prescribed ADHD medicine (but didn’t file the paperwork for it in time) then you are disgraced and banned for the year? Makes no sense”, said Jacob Saylor, former Supercross racer. Does this rule violation fit the punishment? In this senior, motorcycle writers opinion, “Absolutely not”. Maybe HGH or some other performance enhancing drug, but this is just beyond comprehension. I’m even shocked that the AMA, the governing body of the Supercross Series in the US would even allow this. And just in, at the last minute, he has been cleared to use

his prescribed medication Adderall…after his reported 8-month suspension. Horse Manure! “I’m extremely disappointed to say the least,” said Stewart. “We plan to appeal as I personally feel that the punishment far outweighs the situation; especially since I received both WADA and USADA approvals that prove I’m not cheating. I’m bummed for everyone involved: my family, my team, my sponsors, the promoters and most of all the fans. Unfortunately, I’ve had to be very quiet in regards to this situation but I’ll be telling the full story in the next couple weeks so everyone can understand what we’ve been going through. The Three T's of Riding

e've all heard the saying, "If you have to ask why, you just don't understand." That's because motorcyclling is a form of Transportation but so much more. It will get you around. And there's a lot of benefits, like they are quicker than cars, burn less gas, take up less room in the garage, cost less and are easier to maintain. In many countries, bikes are the main form of transportation. But riding is more than that, it is Therapeutic. When you ride, you're not thinking about work or family problems and I do believe it's impossible to be depressed riding a motorcycle. Unless yours breaks down a lot! It is an amazing mind clearing experience. That's what is so hard to put into words about why people ride. It's the reason why I am such a proponent of women riding because so many of them are missing out on an amazing experience. Nature is good for the soul and riding helps you connect to it. When you're in a vehicle, that connection is lost.

Wreaths Across America Honors Veterans Buried By The Mag Man, Randy Gracy

The 2005 photo that Jim Varhegyi snapped of wreaths in snow brought WAA unprecedented attention and acclaim.

rom Arlington National Cemetery to the West Coast, from the Canadian Border to the tip of Florida, the hundreds of thousands of volunteers banned together to honor the fallen of the US Military. The annual Wreaths Across America event seemed to have drawn more volunteers than it has ever before. America is truly humbled just being able to honor those men and women, here, at Christmas time.

“We’re grateful for the sacrifice, bravery, courage and tenacity of members of our armed forces who currently serve in harms way; we’re grateful for the freedoms that we have as Americans,” Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Bryan Battaglia, the senior enlisted advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff told those gathered on a sun drenched but cold day in the shadow of the Pentagon. How wreaths began:

Many of the tractor trailer rigs driving across America were escorted into towns by thousands of motorcycle riders from all walks of life; doctors, lawyers, salesmen, managers, laborers, construction workers, factory workers, fast food worker, clubs from every corner of the country and many others. All came, set their egos aside and honored our country’s fallen heroes.

A Maine businessman, Morrill Worcester donated 5,000 wreaths in 1992 and arranged for trucks to carry them during their pilgrimage from his home state to Arlington National Cemetery. In 2005, Air Force photographer Jim Varhegyi snapped the iconic photo of wreaths in snow, bringing WAA unprecedented attention and acclaim. Later, Congress proclaimed Dec. 13th as “Wreaths Across America Day”. As part of this year’s ceremony, he, along with five of his seven grandchildren, placed the two-millionth wreath (since Mr. Worcester first started laying wreaths in 1992) on the grave of Pvt. William

Christman, the cemetery’s first military burial. Included in the day’s events was a wreath ceremony at the grave of President John F. Kennedy, at the USS Maine Memorial and at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The organization has since expanded to include more than 1,000 fundraising groups in all 50 states representing more than 1,015 cemeteries and locations nationally and abroad. More than 80 volunteer trucking companies have stepped up to help deliver the wreaths.

Wreaths Across America Honors Veterans Buried America, had never been able to raise the funds to lay wreaths at every grave in Arlington Cemetery and it was his goal when he started to one day be able to do this. This year marked the 150th anniversary of Arlington National Cemetery, the 23rd year wreaths have placed there in December and the first year every veteran’s graves was honored. Mr. Worcester, Maine wreath-maker and founder of Wreaths Across America, accepted a

challenge from Maine’s First Lady, Ann LePage, to match every sponsorship with one of his own. “I’ve always felt strongly that each and every one of the brave men and women laid to rest here must be honored. It seems fitting that we reached our goal on the cemetery’s 150th anniversary”, said Mr. Worcester. Nearly 50,000 volunteers placed remembrance wreaths on the headstones of every 230,000 veterans at Arlington this year. “It’s difficult to put into words the love and sense of family here,” said Mrs. Worcester. “All of us coming together is our way of saying thank you and that we’ll never forget your service and your sacrifice.”

5th Annual Motorcycle Flat Track Racing By Sandi England

s the song goes, “Let’s get a little bit, sideways!” Riders were getting their sideways on at the 5th Annual Flat Track Races in Lebanon, Tennessee. It was also a vintage camper rally as well. The crowd was cheering and clapping with all the racing sliding excitement. There were motorcycles, cars and trucks from every year imaginable and some just downright homemade vehicles that looked awesome. There was a swap meet, a Hot Rod show and more, something for everyone.

Trophies were awarded to the vintage campers, cars and motorcycles. Laura Brown with her ’71 vintage camper took home a camper trophy for the weekend and Rawhide took home a vintage motorcycle trophy.

It was an awesome time and Both Barrels Production and Grease Monkey Magazine did one heck of job putting this event on. We’ll see you next year!

6th Annual Chattanooga Polk County Toy Run By Frank Pate Toy Run By Frank Pate

ith registration beginning at Toys R Us in Hixson, TN, bikers began showing up to support the 6th Annual Chattanooga Toy Run. Folks were also given the opportunity to shop in Toys R Us, buy and then donate to the event. From the generous hearts of many riders and supporters, the ride benefited the Chambliss Center for Children. The children here are little ones who have been removed from their home due to abuse, abandonment, neglect, or delinquency and are in the custody of the State of Tennessee.

n a very cold winter day for a ride, “brrrrrrrrrrr”, nearly 100 riders came to support the Empty Stocking Fund for those less fortunate. Riders from Chattanooga, TN to Knoxville met at the Village Green for an escorted ride by the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office and led by Constable Wayne CaseyMae Henry. Riders were treated to a BBQ lunch, raffles, 50/50 and great time!

Over 1,000 children in the North Georgia area will benefit from these riders and the community who gave here at Christmas time. The spirit of giving never ceases to amaze me during this time of year. Motorcycle riders are usually the first and most frequently asked to help and always leading the way to help children and their families in need. It was a great showing of support for the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office and their efforts to raise toys for needy children. Bikes were packed with toys and strapped down for the ride from Big Lots to Ringgold High School. At the

undreds of motorcycle riders came to Panama City Harley-Davidson to ride and support the 20th Annual Cops ‘n Kids Run. With Police lights flickering, the riders headed out on the escorted ride. Bikers weren’t the only ones that came to support the event; over 200 community members came and donated toys and desperately needed funds. Gifts from every kind and for every age were donated and will be wrapped and delivered by volunteers to needy families closer to Christmas. “We do our best to make sure every kid gets something they want and the organizers put it together, and the officers and other members of the department deliver the week of Christmas.”, Corporal Nicholas Thomlinson said. The event has been going on for two decades and it continues to grow and help more families every year.

iders began showing up at Ridgeland High School for the Al Millard/Walker County Stocking Full of Love toy run. Over 200 bikes in all participated in the escorted ride that ended at Lafayette High School. There, live music, food and fun were had by all. In 2013, the Stocking Full of Love met the needs of 1,440 children and 464 families with donations totaling $57,600. This year there is even a larger need. Thank you to all the riders and supporters. The Other One Diner Hidden like a secret in the Secret City is The Other One Diner-Deli-Dive. Located in the Old Grove Center in Oak Ridge, TN, it is a gem of an eatery. It will take you a while to pick from the numerous sandwiches. Here's a few: Moss Madness 6oz roast beef, sauteed jalapenos, horseradish, pepper jack cheese, two onion rings on a burger bun with a jalapeno popper @ $7.69. Bangkok chicken, mayo, cabbage, peanut sauce, sprouts, cilantro, carrot, jalapenos, peanuts on a hoagie @ $7.19. For burgers try the PBB, a 1/3lb patty, lettuce, mayo, bacon and peanut butter @ $5.69. If you are really hungry try a Tobinater, two 1/2lb patties, bacon, cheese between 2 grilled cheese buns @ $13.29. I like the Sonoran dog, bacon wrapped all beef topped with pinto beans, tomato, onion, jalapeno sauce, cheese, mayo on a hoagie @ $4.99. The Other One Diner is open seven days a week. Recipe Ingredients: 16 slices white bread 2 1/2 cups cooked, cubed ham 16 oz. cheddar cheese, shredded 6 eggs 3 cups whole milk 1/2 tsp onion powder 3 cups uncrushed corn flakes 1/2 cup butter, melted Cooking Directions: Cut bread slices in half. Grease a 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Cover bottom of pan with half of the bread, half of the ham and half of the cheese. Repeat layers. Combine eggs, milk, and seasoning. Pour over layers. Refrigerate for 30 minutes before baking. Combine corn flakes and butter; sprinkle over casserole. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes.
