more rides and events! We hope to see you all out and about at one or more of these events. We love meeting up with old friends and making new ones. The leaves have begun to fall from the trees a little early and that means they land on the roads. Please be careful as the colors change to fall and watch those roads with careful eyes and safety in mind.

It’s also time to start thinking about the holidays. I know, I know, I know…but it will be upon us in no time. Be thankful for what we have, enjoy life, enjoy each other’s company, spend time with family and friends and make each day a blessing. Remember, you just never know who is going through a desperate moment and that smile or kind word you say could brighten their day. “Keep Your Knees In The Breeze!”© Kristin “Ms. Mag Man” Gracy

#2 ONE HUGE SUCCESS! By The Mag Man, Randy Gracy

T

he Cherokee Blue Ridge Run second annual event made its presence known that is going to grow and be a force in the world of motorcycle events. Touted as the mecca of motorcycle riding, the event THUNDERED into the mountains of Cherokee, NC. Lots of vendors and entertainers were graced with 3,000 plus attendees who were ready to have a great time! Event Director Mark Cresswell left no stone unturned with top performers, such as Jasmine Cain, Michael Allman, Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet and top headliner Vince Neil of Motley Crue as well as others. Said Missy Dalton, “Where can you go to see Vince (Neil) or Molly Hatchet for $15? No where! We are having a blast!” The entertainment didn’t stop as folks crowded in to see The American Motor Drome, high flying motorcycle act Circus

UNA and motorcycle stunt shows by BMW stunt rider Chris “Teach” McNeil and Adam Holbrook. Close friend, One Feather Racing Land Speed Record Holder and Master of Ceremonies, Jay Allen kept the action moving and the attendees informed of things going on. The new addition to this year was the newly built dirt track. Built and ready for 1500 live viewers, the track was an awesome addition and folks who came to watch the racing action of many classes including a high pay out pro class, didn’t leave disappointed. The action was hot and heavy…and fast. Flat track attendee Mark Allen said he was thrilled to see the track come to life. “What a great addition to this event. It has now become one of my favorite events and we look forward to coming to this event every year.

I can’t wait to see what next year brings”, he stated. The AMD National Qualifier crowned its champion, Tim Dixon, among some of the best built motorcycles in the country. Tim received $2,000 in winnings and another $7,000 towards taking his bike to Germany for the AMD world final. The Southern Biker Magazine’s Ladies Ride-in Bike Show had lots of entrants and winners were awarded custom laser engraved cedar trophies to adorn their homes. The Perewitz Paint show had many outstanding entrants and Dave Perewitz awarded the winners with his custom painted trophies. The Cycle Source Old School Chopper Show also brought out many bikes that have a hint of history and how bikes were made in the past. The Grease & Gears Show was streaming live each day with informative building techniques from all the builders. Makoto Endo painted some outstanding motorcycles on canvas including the drag bike of racing legend Pete Hill.

Mr. Creswell stated, “The Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians are thrilled with this year’s turnout and are looking forward to making this one of the largest events for motorcycle riders. We hope to make this rally and Cherokee the Mecca of motorcycles and motorcycle riding for this area. This is a familyfriendly event. It’s a motorcycle and music festival where we are encouraging the next generation of enthusiasts to discover today’s great sport of motorcycling.” I’ve been to bike rallies all over the country and I’ve walked around looking for things to do or see. This wasn’t one of those rallies. At Cherokee Blue Ridge Run you had to decide what you wanted to see as things were going on all the time. If you sit down, it’s not because you’re bored; it’s because you’re tired. Needless to say…CHEROKEE IS BACK! Don’t miss next year’s event that is already in the works. A little birdie just told me there is some big news coming for next year. It will be one event not to miss.

Officer Kenny Moates Memorial Ride By The Mag Man, Randy Gracy

T

he Volunteer Defenders LEMC hosted the 2nd Annual Kenny Moates Memorial Ride and Car Show. Officer Moates lost his life “In the Line of Duty” two years ago and local officers and the public came and showed their support to remembering Officer Moates and those that lose their life in the line of duty. They put their life on the line EVERY DAY to protect us from harm we cannot do for ourselves…and a whole lot more! Holding this year’s event at Smoky Mountain Harley Davidson in Maryville, over 800 people from all over the area and other states came to participate in his honor. “I love how people still support our law enforcement and their families, especially if the officer loses their life. A huge crowd like this, remembering this officer… it makes my heart humble”, said Jeff Burkhardt. #156 was honored with a complete multi-county law enforcement escorted ride. Safety is always the concern with a large ride, and this day, everyone returned safely.

John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. 10 - Southern Biker Magazine

17th Annual 9/11 Remembrance Ride WE WILL NEVER FORGET

By The Mag Man, Randy Gracy TN III Blue Knights LEMC was joined by hundreds of riders at the World’s Fair Park in Knoxville, TN where they hosted their 17th Annual 9/11 Remembrance Ride to honor those that lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and those that still continue the fight against terrorism today. The ride ceremony prior to the ride was a solemn one. Riders and supporters gathered at the amphitheatre as the ceremony began with the presentation of the flags with the sounds Kelly Shipe and her bag pipes. The National Anthem was sung by Greg & Sydney Whitaker. VIP’s including new KCSO Sheriff Tom Spangler and new Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs (WWE Kane) all had some moving words for the crowd. Then there was the ringing of the fireman’s bell by Chief Rausch, a 21-gun salute, taps was played by a lone trumpeter. The riders then mounted their motorcycles where they carried handlebar hanging cards containing a photo of someone lost during the New York 9-11 tragedy. Escorted by many officers including KCSO’s Tango Squad, the riders enjoyed an hour-long ride to their ending destination at Bootlegger Harley-Davidson in Knoxville. A celebration of life to remember those lost took place with live music from the Southern Steel Band, tasty food and a 50/50 drawing took place to raise even more funds for charities. Proceeds from the event went to the Blue Knights COPSRUN, Blount County Rescue Squad and the Knoxville Public Safety Foundation. We remembered the Americans that died that day; we remembered the heroes who chose to stay behind, attempting to save lives and their own comrades; we remembered those soldiers who carried the fight to the enemy and lost their lives; we remembered the soldiers that still carry the Sword of Justice for us all today. We Will Never to Forget.

RIDE IN DEFIANCE OF

SUICIDE By The Mag Man, Randy Gracy

T

he V13ION Ride was born from the heart when Chuck Lambert lost his son Chad “Chubbs” Lambert to suicide on his 36th birthday, May 22, 2010. Chuck said “I wanted to celebrate life and help show folks that life is worth living and that NO ONE should ever feel alone and helpless.” Chad’s favorite number was 13 so he created V13ION in his son’s honor and brought awareness of PTSD and suicide prevention together with riding motorcycles. Riders began their route from different dealerships around the state of Tennessee and ended at the Tellico Overland Adventure Destination (TOAD). Many groups held rides in other areas and other states across this great nation as well. Lots of events happened at TOAD during the event: bike show, bike games, burnout contest, Scramble event, hill climb, silent auctions, live music, food and more! Hundreds of riders around the country rode in and attended V13ION events with thousands of dollars being raised for this cause. If you are at the point where you think there is no hope, just know that there is someone out there…someone that cares…someone that will listen…someone that will help. Our prayer is that no one ever takes their own life and that there is always someone there to help. We at Southern Biker Magazine are a proud sponsor this noble event.

4th Annual Rumble on the Loop By Karen Hundley

WOW! What an event to go to and be a part of! Mt. Cheaha Harley-Davidson’s Rumble on the Loop was absolutely awesome. There were hundreds and hundreds of folks from all over the south and some further away according to their license plates on their motorcycles. Several of my friends came, as well, to this family-oriented event. “There was truly a big crowd and so many beautiful bikes there. All seemed to be having a great time. Thanks to Mt. Cheaha HD’s staff and owners Mark & Toni Christopher. "(Just) a great, beautiful weekend fun for so many…” said Bev Hurd. This was Mt. Cheaha’s biggest event of the year and they didn’t disappoint. Top headliners like the Kentucky Headhunters, Buck Wild and Geneva rocked out the stage. Tons of vendors were on hand to disperse their retail items, food and beverages. Saturday, music was on tap all day for everyone’s enjoyment and the action didn’t stop there. The bikes games had folks competing against each other and Strut’s bikini bike wash kept those machines clean and sparkling. After mid-day, they gave away a new 2017 HD Fat Boy, conducted by Meals on Wheels Interfaith Ministries. It was done by a reverse drawing. As folks’ numbers were called out, sighs came out of them. Others began to get excited and the winner let out a loud yell! Sunday was the Blessing of the Bikes as the Mt. Cheaha HOG Chapter got a sendoff heading out on the 115th Anniversary Harley-Davidson™ Ride Home to Milwaukee, Wisconisn. Make your plans to attend the 5th Annual Rumble on the Loop. It is sure to be the biggest and best yet! 22 - Southern Biker Magazine
