elcome back to the Sabredome. We, like everyone are excited to be back enjoying life without lockdown and playing basketball. With the news arriving Tuesday that we could get back on court the ladies were ready to go. The Sabres are looking to bounce back after a tough road trip to Mount Gambier were things didn’t go to plan. We are looking forward to running more structure in offence and being physical on defence.

The players have been making the most of ‘The Cage’ this week and getting as many shots up as possible. Frankston have had a tremendous season so far having started with 10 wins in a row. Since having their Olympian Tessa Lavey they have lost 3 out 4. We will need to stop their outsider shooters and big inside targets. Stopping Darcee Garbin and moving the ball quickly in offence is key to getting the win. Jacqui O’Neill – Coach

nd so, we restart again, with a group of Sabres who continue to show outstanding resilience and adaptability. These young men through all their limited experience at this level of basketball continue to enjoy being around and competing for one another. It is such a positive sign for the future to see the roster

NBL1 success the past two years. They currently sit third on the table at 10-4, and will be an extremely tough task for the young orange and blue, but one they are eager for. The Blues are bolstered by a roster that includes league stalwart Lucas Barker, sharpshooter Lachlan Barker, NBL big man Daniel Trist, and one of the Big V’s best players (who recently made the jump to NBL1) dynamic stretch four Dillon Stith.

If the Sabres can slow down Frankston in transition and limit their threes, they’ll give themselves the best chance. GO SABRES! Nathan Cooper Brown – Coach SABRES DOUBLE HEADERS – NBL1 Sunday 1st August 2021 7
