Be Your Best Investment

How many of us can truly say that we’ve invested in ourselves more than the daily food, fashion, or trending things that we spend countless dollars on? We spend so much time trying to keep up with others. In my experience as a business coach & leader, many pack the house out when it is a “free” resource involved, but how many of us know that the REALexperience doesn’t start until you invest?

In today’s society entrepreneurship is the fastest growing profession. Millennials are free birds and want things on their owns terms. As a business owner, that is a great part of why many of us are in business. My motto is freedom, fun, & fulfillment. To gain these things we cannot wake up one day with an idea and think that everyone is our customer and everything we already know is going to make us millions. The fake it until you make it only goes so far. Soonerorlater it will show up in your brand.

Why are we so sketchy about investing in us? Most of the time it is our own mental block and the amount of “free” resources that catch us up. We tell

ourselves, “that course/class isn’t going to change anything” or we say “this free resource is just fine, I’ll research more from this.” Believe that you are worth that class or course and that investing in it will expand your mindset. That free resource can honestly only take you so far. You know why? The person pitching it to you has done their homework to capture you and know you can only pair their information with their product. Plus, if you had known what they told you in the free course, you would not need the free resource or the need to search further.

My goal as a business coach is to teach you that your brand & business is you. If you don’t invest in you, why should others? Investing in you does not always have to cost. Market research is free but time consuming and worth it. YouTube is certainly free but takes time to watch and even beyond that questions arise. Take time to research your industry hero/she-ro and find out how they started and they made it to where they are now. I can assure you it was hard work, dedication, and most importantly an investment of money and time. If no one has told you, you are worth the investment!

Embracing Singleness

Carmelita Mcroy

I pray this article blesses every single woman who reads it with more wisdom and insight on how to handle her singleness. Even if you are not a believer in Christ, do not turn me off because I know that this will help you as well.

Please, remember girlfriend that whether you are single or married you are still a woman who wants and needs love. You are awesome, amazing, and extraordinary; so, embrace the person God created you to be while you are single.

Do you think being single means being alone or lonely? Are you ready to just settle for the next man who comes and speaks sweet nothings in your ear? Does it bother you that it seems that everyone around you is married?

You must love being single before you can love being in a relationship or being married. A man does not make you whole, you need to be whole before you get with your mate; a man is a bonus to your already great life. Being single is not a punishment!

It can be a blessing and a wonderful time for you to grow and really get to know who you are. I have been single for sixteen years and celibate for fourteen years, so sister I know what it’s like to be single and lonely, crying, waiting, wondering, happy, excited, unsure, and successful; all while being saved.

What I can tell you is that if you learn to accept your singleness, then you will begin to feel happy and blessed about it. Do not compromise just to have a body of biceps and triceps by you each night; those can bring you the worse stress and heartache imaginable.

If you are struggling with low self-esteem while single, then it is time for you to get out. I am not saying hang at the club, but I am saying work and church won’t do. Get out, join some groups, attend workshops and conferences, and select a night each week to meet up with girlfriends. Speak positive affirmations to yourself daily.

Remember, the Bible says he will find you!

How To Boost Your Mental Health

Few people understand the importance of mental health, until an illness occurs. Think about it… The moment a tragic crime occurs we immediately start a discussion on the mental status of the assailant. We try to figure out how someone could commit such a heinous act. It is important to know that mental illness is often very complicated. There are many factors that contribute to the severity of mental illness, such as: biological factors (genes or brain chemistry), life experiences (trauma or abuse), and family history of mental illness. In these cases professional intervention is required to attain a good quality of life for all involved.

That said, a lot of us do not carry out heinous acts, but still suffer in silence. We go through life feeling and being defeated. So how do we change this?

Understanding mental health is the first step.According to the World Health Organization (WHO) mental health is not ‘just the absent of a mental illness’, but “a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.” So the question becomes how do we get to this ‘state of well-being’?

1. Meditate

Meditation is the act of resting the mind and consciously focusing on a desired object or thought. In this constantly moving world we must train our minds to slow down. While there are many types and methods of meditation the goal remains the same; to increase consciousness and decrease anxiety.

Meditation is a great time for prayer &/or affirmations.

**Meditation offers many benefits including: Enhanced self-awareness, strengthened immune system, develops intuition/discernment, increases creativity & productivity and more.

2. Be Good To Yourself

This sounds simple, but can be very difficult. We spend so much time taking care of others that it becomes difficult to take care of self, but boosting mental health begins and ends with self-care. Take time out of each day to do something for you. This includes eating well, drinking plenty of water, exercise, and sleeping well. Be good to you and you will be good to others.

Here are tips that will kick-start your journey to boosting your mental health.

3. Limit Alcohol Consumption

While having an occasional alcoholic beverage with friends can be socially acceptable, it is important to remember that alcohol depresses the Central Nervous System which causes mood fluctuation. It can also numb our emotions, so we can avoid difficult issues in life which is why most people choose to drink.

Alcohol can become dangerous because it can also reveal and intensify feelings and past traumatic events which can create a dangerous situation. So boosting your mental health must include monitoring alcohol consumption.

4. Connect With Others and LAUGH

Have you ever had a good laugh after a rough day? I mean yelling out loud, tear falling, belly busting laugh? Did you feel you notice that you felt better afterwards? Having a good laugh is fun, but it is also healthy.

Laughter boosts the immune system and triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain.

So go ahead… Have a good laugh!!! It’s good for you
