Doi Mon Jong is one of the mountains in the Thanon Thong Chai mountain range, located in tambon Omkoi, southwest corner of Chiang Mai province. The elevation of the mountain is 1929 meters. Doi Mon Jong hosts a wide variety of animals and also has the largest Rhododendron tree in Thailand. In February, the Rhododendrons blossom, and make the scenery even more colorful and breath-taking. The weather is rather cool every day of the year. Even though the area has amazing views and scenery, it is still quite unknown to tourists. Visiting Doi Mon Jong and walking there can be very long and tiring. If you want to do just a one-day visit, it is recommended to start the trip very early in the morning. Otherwise it is recommended to stay there over-night and fully enjoy the setting. It is required to inform the Musoe Forest Protection Unit officer before your visit. The area is open from Novemeber until February, other times they are not accepting visitors. Doi Mon Jong doesn’t have any facilities for tourists, so you have to bring everything you would need with you.
