Welcome to the Squamish Recreation Services Winter Program Guide! Our much-loved winter and holiday programs offer a variety of activities to keep residents of all ages, interests and abilities active and engaged throughout the season. We are operating under the guidance of the Provincial Health Order to keep our community safe, and we thank the community for their continued cooperation with our guidelines and protocols. We have also introduced a new mobile-friendly registration system that will improve our customer service and the way our residents can access Squamish Recreation Programs and activities. Your feedback is valued and encouraged, and we invite you to share your experience using our new registration system with our Customer Service team. We work hard to present a range of programs and activities that appeal to everyone in our community. PUBLIC HEALTH INFORMATION Brennan Park Recreation Centre and The 55 Activity Centre continue to operate under the guidance of current Provincial Health Orders (PHO) to keep our community both active and safe. Masks are required in all common spaces within indoor facilities, including lobbies, washrooms, activity rooms, for those aged 5 and older. Please be aware that certain programs and activities currently require participants or spectators to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. PROGRAM REFUND POLICY
REGISTRATION BEGINS DECEMBER 8.
To receive a full refund the registrant must withdraw in person, or by calling Recreation Services, 72 hours prior to the start of the first class. This includes private swim lesson(s).
We’ve launched a new registration system for all Squamish Recreation Services programs and activities. A new account will be required in order to register for Winter 2022 programs, as SquamishLive.ca Login ID and Family PINs will be retired along with the SquamishLive system.
Withdrawals completed less than 72 hours prior to the start of a registered program will be charged a $15 withdrawal fee + applicable taxes.
Please clear your browsing data on your web browser (Google Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge, etc.) prior to registration. Google Chrome is recommended.

10 and 20 Visit Passes expire two (2) years from the date they are purchased. Unused passes are non-transferrable and nonrefundable. Monthly and Yearly Passes are non-refundable and nontransferable.
ARENA THE WHAT’S WHAT OF SKATING PUBLIC SKATE
Everyone is welcome! Come and meet up with friends and socialize while skating in this fun environment. Skate patrol are on the ice to supervise and support skaters. No strollers on the ice during this time.
FAMILY SKATE
For parents and children to skate together in a slower-paced setting. Children must be accompanied by a paid adult. Skate aids and strollers with clean wheels are welcome. Skate patrol staff are on the ice to supervise and support families.
PARENT & CHILD SKATE
Come practice fundamental skating skills in a fun, relaxed environment. Skate aids and strollers with clean wheels are welcome. Adults must be with their children on the ice. Ice may be shared with Recreation Programs.
TOONIE SKATES
These are little snippets of ice time for anyone to come have a skate. Children under 19 years must be supervised. Adults must be directly supervising their children. No hockey sticks or pucks permitted. Ice may be shared with Recreation programs.
PARENT & CHILD HOCKEY UP TO 12 YEARS OLD
Online pre-registration available due to limited capacity. Helmets are required and full gear recommended. Pucks and sticks are not provided. For safety, strollers and skate aids are not allowed on the ice. Adults must be directly supervising their children. Note: This is not a team coaching session.
YOUTH STICK AND PUCK 13-18 YEARS OLD
Online pre-registration available due to limited capacity. Youth are welcome to practice their stick-handling and skating skills in a supervised environment. Helmet, gloves, and stick required. No goalies or scrimmages. Parental consent forms are available at the front desk and MUST be filled out prior to attendance.
ADULT DROP-IN HOCKEY (19+)
A chance to drop in and work on some hockey skills. Maximum of 20 players plus two goalies (goalies are free). Full gear required. Participants must be at least 19 years of age.
ADULT DROP-IN STICK & PUCK (19+)
Helmets, gloves and ice hockey stick required. No goalies or scrimmages. Work on your skating skills in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Participants must be at least 19 years of age. This is a slower-paced program so please be courteous of all participants.
OVERTIME HOCKEY FOR 60Y+
Overtime Hockey is an ice time for players 60y+ to get together and enjoy a low-key hockey game. Those under age 60 may participate if they are at the slower pace and skill level of this group. Full gear required.
We strongly recommend the use of helmets for all arena programs. Skate rentals available: $2.50 for children and youth $5 for adults Schedule: squamish.ca/ice
COME SKATE WITH US HELMETS
We have a limited supply of CSA approved helmets for the public to borrow. We strongly recommend that you bring your own helmet to arena programs.

1-5y Come play, explore and move your body in our playground. Children will enjoy being physically active and making new friends in a safe, social environment filled with slides, climbers, riding toys, sports equipment and more! This unstructured program requires active parent participation. Each session will include a group circle time at the end led by an instructor. Equipment will vary each session to keep the little ones on their toes. Reduced rates available for the second and each additional child in the same family. 11-15y Calling all future babysitters! The Babysitter Training course provides students with emergency first aid, safety tips, and information on games that are suitable for all ages. Participants must be 11 years of age by the end of the course in order to participate. gymnastics registration information
1. SQUAMISH GYMNASTICS ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION The purchase of a Squamish Gymnastics Membership at the time of registration is a requirement for participation in all Squamish Gymnastics programs. Cost for the 2021-2022 member year is $42. Membership is valid from Sept 1, 2021-August 31, 2022 and is non-refundable. Fees include Gymnastics BC & Gymnastics Canada Memberships and participants’ insurance.
2. COMPLETION OF REQUIRED FORMS Gymnastics BC Member Registration Form is required for each registered child and must be received at time of class registration. An assumption of Risks/Waiver Form is required for each registered child and for each adult accompanying a child in a parent participation program. Please note: Adult waivers should be completed as though the adult is the ‘participant’. Please submit all required forms within 48 hours of registration or at least two weeks prior to the start of classes via the Squamish Gymnastics drop-box outside the Squamish Chief Activity Room or email to: squamishgymnastics@hotmail.com. Entry to the gym will not be permitted without the required forms on file.
3. PROGRAM REGISTRATION Registration may be made online or in person at Brennan Park Recreation Centre for gymnastics classes. We encourage you to join a waitlist if your desired class is full. GYMNASTICS FREESTYLE FUNDAMENTALS
These introductory gymnastics classes are great for all genders and will increase fitness, develop confidence and build the fundamental movement skills necessary for participation in any sport. Kids will have the opportunity to explore gymnastics as well as a variety of other gymnastics-based activities such as PARKOUR and FREESTYLE MOVEMENT with an emphasis on safe landing techniques. This program also provides a solid foundation for older kids with no previous gymnastics experience who are interested in our Gymnastics Achievement Program. • Registration in the Squamish Gymnastics Membership is required to enable participation for all classes. ACHIEVEMENT GYMNASTICS
Have fun and get fit! Learn and develop artistic gymnastics skills on the bars, beam, floor and vault following the 14 levels of the Squamish Gymnastics Achievement Program (CANGYM). Beginners will be introduced to the idea of a structured gymnastics class and foundation skills. Intermediates will continue with skill development and begin the phase of learning to train. Advanced gymnasts will work to achieve improved physical performance and skill mastery. Gymnasts in levels Silver and above are eligible to join our Interclub Gymnastics Program with instructor approval. • Registration in the Squamish Gymnastics Membership is required to enable registration for all classes. Adult 19+ | FITNESS - INDOOR FULL BODY CONDITIONING
Full Body Conditioning will target your entire body, using different exercises to strengthen your muscles, to increase your balance, and flexibility. We will be using dance inspired techniques, body isolations and easy movement to engage your entire body and its full range of motion, allowing us to develop better alignment. This low impact cardio class will get your heart rate up while being gentle on the joints with minimal jumping. 19y+ The FITNESS AND MOBILITY EXERCISE Program is designed specifically to improve fitness, mobility and strength for individuals affected by stroke. 19y+ The Healthy Hearts Program is a long-standing evidence-based program facilitated by Registered Nurses, Dieticians and Physiotherapists, and brought to you by Vancouver Coastal Health. The program is focused on the self-management of your heart health. STANDARD FIRST AID/ CPR C RECERT
13y+ Bronze Medallion prepares participants to respond effectively to a variety of aquatic emergencies. Students will develop their fitness, safety knowledge, water rescue skills and judgment while learning lifesaving, first aid and CPR skills.

CERTIFICATION | AQUATIC WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR (WSI)
15y+ The WSI course is comprised of four modules. To receive your certification, you must successfully complete all four within one year. It is our intent to run this course with a minimum of 2 registrants. Module 1: Stroke and Skills Assessment 100% attendance required. Prerequisite: Emergency First Aid or Bronze Cross or equivalent. All strokes and water skills will be assessed as part of this course. At the end of the session, details will be provided about the next three modules. Wednesday January 5 4 - 8 p.m.

Module 2 – approx 20 hrs This module is an online course designed to be completed at the student’s own pace prior to beginning the next module. Instructions for Module 2 and 3 will be provided when you complete Module 1. The Module is completed online, from home. $200 (online) Module 3 – 8+ hrs (10 hrs recommended) In this module, participants practice teaching preschool and school-aged kids alongside an experienced swim instructor. This module can be set up for you by your WSIT, once you have Module 1 and 2 completed. Module 4 – 21+ hrs In these classroom and pool sessions, participants will examine strategies for planning, teaching, developing and evaluating strokes and water safety skills. 100% attendance required.
