Pass Expiry

• 10 and 20 Visit Passes expire two (2) years from the date they are purchased.

• Unused passes are non-transferable and non-refundable.

• Monthly and Yearly Passes are non-refundable and non-transferable.

GYMNASTICS REGISTRATION

Classes fill quickly! We recommend completing registration the day it opens at 8 a.m. If your desired class is full at the time of registration, please use the waitlists. An effort will be made to accommodate waitlists where possible.

DO NOT wait to submit required registration forms. Documents need to be verified, data entered and submitted to Gymnastics BC well in advance of the program start date to meet insurance requirements.

REGISTRATION STEPS

STEP 1 – Register for your class and membership Register online or in person at Brennan Park Recreation Centre for gymnastics classes. squamish.ca/rec

Select and pay for a Squamish Gymnastics Annual Membership at the time of registration (valid Sept 1, 2022-Aug 31, 2023). Memberships are mandatory and non-refundable. (Not required if you purchased a full membership in Fall 2022)

STEP 2 – Complete “Individual Membership Registration Form”

You can find the form on squamish.ca/rec. Ensure all personal information has been included and the form is signed. You can ignore the boxes in the middle of the form. Email form to: squamishgymnastics@hotmail.com

STEP 3 – Complete “Assumption of Risks/Waiver”

The Assumption of Risks/Waiver is a digital form and can be found on squamish.ca/rec. Complete the form with your child’s information.

Select ‘Squamish Gymnastics’ from the list of clubs in the drop-down menu.

STEP 4 - FOR PARENT & TOT GYMNASTICS ONLY

Complete a separate digital Assumption of Risks/Waiver for any adult that will be entering the gym or accompanying your child to gymnastics.

These waivers must be completed in the adult’s own name (not the child’s).

Only one adult per child permitted in the gym at a time, but you may alternate, we will keep waivers on file.

Warm up this winter with our wide range of all-age programs and activities suitable for all levels. Squamish Recreation and Culture offers fitness, wellness, arts and training programs in a safe, supportive community-focused environment.

PARENT AND TOT 0 5

Exploration movement and play in a safe and social environment. Physical and emotional literacy are the foundation of parent and tot programming designed for children under five. Participants and their parent or caregiver will take part in activities and experiences at their own individual pace while forming essential movement, imagination and social fundamentals for structured and unstructured play.

GYMNASTICS

Parent & Baby Gymnastics (6-18m)

Exploration and discovery of fundamental movement through imaginative play.

Parent & Tot 1 & 2 Gymnastics (18m-3.5y)

Develop physical literacy and fundamental movement skills through a combination of structured and unstructured activities.

Parent & Tot Transition Gymnastics (3y)

Explore and develop physical literacy, movement fundamentals and beginner techniques, while preparing to participate independently in future sessions.

PLAY PROGRAMS

Little Sneakers Gym (1-5y)

Come play, explore and move your body in our playground filled with slides, climbers, riding toys, sports equipment and more!

Mini Sneakers (1-3y)

A smaller take on our ‘Little Sneakers’ program. Enjoy being physically active in a social environment filled with slides, soft blocks, balls, tunnels, and more!

Tot Riders (1-5y)

Zoom around the gym on our ride-on cars and trikes. You can bring your own run-bike & helmet too.

Come learn the FUNdamentals of skating! This beginner-level skating teaches skills using engaging themes, games, and songs.

Home Alone

Is your 10 to 12 year-old ready to be home alone? We’ll prepare them to feel safe and confident at home on their own.

Creative indoor and outdoor activities, camps and courses.

Deepen your skills and knowledge outside of the classroom through a range of day camps, certifications, private lessons and programs for all ages and abilities. Choose from our balanced selection of creative sports, art and training programs to fit your interest and lifestyle.

Gymnastics Freestyle FUNdamentals

Introductory classes for all genders and will increase fitness, develop confidence and build fundamental movement skills.

Squamish Gymnastics Achievement Program

Have fun and get fit! Learn and develop artistic skills on the bars, beam, floor and vault following the 14 levels of the CANGYM program.

We offer a range of leadership and training opportunities to help youth build confidence, gain valuable life skills and earn specialized certifications needed for employment.

LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS

Explore our range of courses designed to help youth of all ages develop important life skills, build confidence, meet new people, and earn certifications to put on their resume.

BR1 Bronze Medallion

Develop water rescue skills & judgement while learning lifesaving, first aid and CPR skills.

BR2 Bronze Cross Learn to perform even more complex lifesaving rescues, first aid and CPR skills.

Emergency First Aid/OFA Level 1 EFA/ OFA Level 1 offers instruction on The Rescue Process & ABC Priorities, & CPR with some minor wound care.

National Lifeguard

Become a lifeguard. Teamwork, leadership, communication, and prevention are emphasized.

Standard First Aid

Learn CPR & AED use as well as first aid skills to deal with bleeding, fractures & medical conditions.

Swim & Lifesaving Instructor

Learn to teach all ages and abilities to swim so you can have a fun, rewarding, well-paying job.

Women’s Beginner 101/ Intermediate Hockey Program

Focus is on introductory skill development such as skating, shooting and passing as well as learning the rules and fundamentals of the game.

Women’s Ice Circuit Training

How about trying something totally different? Not ready to jump into our hockey programs? Just looking for a different type of workout? We got you! Incorporate skating drills with strength training stations on ice for fun interval training.

DROP-IN SPORTS

Whether singles or doubles, these drop-in sessions are great for players of all abilities and experience levels. Everyone is welcome.

ART

Beginner Watercolour Painting

This class introduces you to different styles and techniques of watercolor painting and aims to help you develop your own style while having fun learning to paint. Have a favorite photo you’d love to paint? Bring it along to the first class.

DANCE

Beginner Line Dancing

Line Dancing is choreographed steps done to a specific piece of music. This program starts out with basic steps, and as dancers progress more advanced steps are added in. Drop-ins welcome.

Salsa/Latin

Time to move those hips! Learn to Latin dance, Salsa and more. Brand new beginners and up are welcome. No partner is required.

Swing and West Coast Swing

Learn to swing dance, learning west coast swing, and more. Brand new beginners and up are welcome. No partner required.

International Dance

Enjoy dancing to music from many other countries. We practice a mix of circle, line and contra dances. The focus is more on fun than footwork!

Aquafit – Deep Water Running

A low impact workout, targeting weekly increases of intensity through formats, intervals & pyramids.

Aquafit – Tabata – Deep Water

Interval training: 20 seconds high intensity, 10 seconds rest. Blast away calories & increase endurance.

Squamish Adult Swim Club

Improve strokes, build endurance, minimize injury - all in a fun, social & rewarding environment.

SWIM LESSONS

Sunday evenings is for Adults to learn to swim or improve their skills. Learn floats and glides, or master any stroke you choose.

FITNESS INDOOR

Spin - Rise and Shine

Early risers, you are in for an amazing ride! Complete your workout before your day begins. This class will focus on hills, drills and endurance with Top 40 music.

Spin - Parent and Tot

Bring your little one with you (up to 2 years old). This class allows parents to get into a cycle workout while attending to their baby/tot’s needs.

Spin - Rides and Reps

Spin intervals, weighted resistance, and core work, taught in a Tabata format. An approachable program for all fitness levels. This class welcomes parents with infants in a stroller.

Spin - Stroller Fit

This class is for parents getting back into shape with mobile babies. Exercise and meet other parents while interacting with your baby. Class will focus on cardio and circuit with baby and stroller. Drop-ins welcome.

FITNESS THERAPEUTIC

GLA: D Osteoarthritis

Management of Knee/Hip Osteoarthritis. Decrease pain and inflammation in hip/knee arthritis and improve functionality of the joint(s).

ROLLER SKATING

Intro to Roller Skating

Learn balance, strides and stops that prepare you to join our sport or enjoy other forms of recreational skating.

DROP - IN PROGRAMS 55 +

Don’t let the rain ruin your fun! Join us inside for weekly drop-in sports like pickleball and badminton at Brennan Park Recreation Centre, volleyball at Howe Sound Secondary School and indoor soccer at Garibaldi Highlands Elementary School.

Drop-in payment and sign-in is required in order to participate. Please pay in-person at Customer Services. All drop-in are $5.

ART Creative Drawing

We start with easy-to-follow drawing exercises followed by a discussion looking at students wishes. Any medium and any subject that the participants want to tackle are valid in this class.

BUS TRIPS 55+

Winter 2023 will continue with the new format of “Choose Your Own Adventure” trips. Each destination offers several activities which are listed in the trip description from which you can choose. These trips will continue to be offered based on the availability of our volunteer drivers who help keep the cost low.

Coming in 2023...

Guaranteed departures - these trips, offered at a higher price, will have District staff driving and offering more support in destination. They will never be cancelled due to driver availability.

Full Body Fusion

Full Body Fusions is based on Pilates’ principles combined with ballet-inspired moves and strength training. Benefits include strengthening muscles that are required to maintain posture, stability through the joints, and enduring balance.

In partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health, the program is for individuals affected by stroke, acquired brain injury, MS, Parkinson’s or spinal cord injury.

YOGA CLASSES 55 +

Various styles of yoga combine physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation or relaxation. It involves movement and meditation, to promote mental and physical well-being.

Acive Living Yoga

This mindful and compassionate style of yoga aims to cater to the flexibility of the 55+ community. Poses will be taught based on abilities of the participants, and will be modified as needed using a chair, wall, block etc.

ARENA AND AQUATIC

The arena at Brennan Park Recreation Centre provides ice time for hockey, figure skating, skills training and leisure skating. Drop in for a public skate or choose a quiet time to supervise and support your skater-in-training. Skate rentals are available upon arrival for adults, children and youth. PUBLIC SKATE

Everyone is welcome! Come and meet up with friends and socialize while skating in this fun environment. Skate patrol are on the ice to supervise and support skaters. No strollers on the ice during this time.

FAMILY SKATE

For parents and children to skate together in a slower-paced setting. Children must be accompanied by a paid adult. Skate aids and strollers with clean wheels are welcome. Skate patrol staff are on the ice to supervise and support families.

PARENT & CHILD SKATE

Come practice fundamental skating skills in a fun, relaxed environment. Skate aids and strollers with clean wheels are welcome. Adults must be with their children on the ice. Ice may be shared with Recreation Programs.

TOONIE SKATES

These are little snippets of ice time for anyone to come have a skate. Children under 19 years must be supervised. Adults must be directly supervising their children. No hockey sticks or pucks permitted. Ice may be shared with Recreation programs.

ADULT DROP-IN HOCKEY (19+)

A chance to drop in and work on some hockey skills. Maximum of 20 players plus two goalies (goalies are free). Full gear required. Participants must be at least 19 years of age.

ADULT DROP-IN STICK & PUCK (19+)

Helmets, gloves and ice hockey stick required. No goalies or scrimmages. Work on your skating skills in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Participants must be at least 19 years of age. This is a slowerpaced program so please be courteous of all participants.

OVERTIME HOCKEY FOR 60Y+

Overtime Hockey is an ice time for players 60y+ to get together and enjoy a low-key hockey game. Full gear required.

PARENT & CHILD HOCKEY Up to 12 years old. Thank you to all swimmers and parents for their patience and understanding this Fall as we transitioned to the new program. Together, we all made it work for children who had been accidentally registered in the wrong level.

Starting in January, if a child has been registered in the wrong level, one of our supervisors will speak with the parent and the child will have to be withdrawn.

If you haven’t taken swim lessons with us since July 2022, please come talk with us about the correct level for your child.
