We’re so glad that you’ve stumbled upon this edition of Combust,
the first of what we hope becomes a yearly publication by the USyd Enviro
Collective. This booklet is a collection of prominent radical ideas currently
surrounding the environment movement - it’s essentially some of the knowledge
that we wish we’d had when we first became interested in enviro politics.
The Enviro Collective is a branch of ASEN (Australian Student Environment
Network) — a non-hierarchical space for grassroots organising around
environmental activism and building community. This year, we’ll have weekly
meetings, regular stalls, drinks, film screenings, reading groups, trips to rural
communities affected by the water crisis, and much more. You do not need a
comprehensive knowledge of environmentalism to join the collective — we are
all learning and growing together. But either way, we hope this will help you,
make you think, or even reaffirm something you already knew.
