LEARN TO SWIM
THE IMPORTANCE OF SWIMMING LESSONS As the seasons change, so do the activities that people engage in. The summer season is sure to have many water based activities. This could include going to the beach, the lake or even relaxing by the swimming pool. Whether you are an adult, teenager or a young child, it is essential that everyone learns how to swim. The benefits of swimming are endless and it is imperative to get started learning to swim as early as possible. Learning to swim is fun, provides health benefits and could save someone’s life. Aquatics Coordinator:
#1 SAFETY - According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or the CDC, Missy Hollander -Certified Pool Operator drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury related deaths in children ages 1-14. -Ellis & Associates Lifeguard It is important that all children learn how to swim at a young age. There is water all around us; Instructor Trainer lakes, rivers, pools, and bathtubs. Ensuring that everyone, children especially, are comfortable in and around the water is essential to everyone’s safety. #2 HEALTH - Swimming is a low-impact activity that has many physical and health benefits. It builds body strength and creates a total body workout by pushing, pulling and kicking through the water. It keeps your heart and lungs healthy, improves strength and flexibility, increases stamina and even improves balance and posture. Swimming is an activity that everyone can do and can continue doing for a lifetime. #3 RECREATION - Swimming is fun! Children can join swim teams for friendly recreational competition. Friends and families create memories all summer long splashing around at the pool. Smiling, laughing and soaking up the sun can make for great times for everyone. Knowing how to swim is a life skill that everyone should know. It can improve the quality of life that we live by creating a fun, healthy activity that anyone can do. I strongly encourage everyone to learn to swim no matter what the age and come to the pools whether for the health benefits or just for some summer fun!

Emerald Ash Borer is an Asian beetle that has infested and killed hundreds of millions of ash trees in North America and has made its way to Missouri. Its larva causes the most damage, feeding on the tree's inner bark interfering with its ability to transport nutrients it needs to survive.
