Director's Note
Emerging from winter, we all have a little cabin fever and are ready to be outside having fun. 2018 will be an exciting year as you will be experiencing the results of years of planning and changing of features around the parks that we cannot wait to share with you.
As we close in on two years of Proposition P for Parks and Stormwater passing on August 2, 2016, our promised projects are nearly completed. Playgrounds and athletic field improvements are finished and ready for you to enjoy. Blanchette and Wapelhorst Aquatic Facilities construction is 75% complete and on target in anticipation of a Memorial Weekend 2018 Grand Opening. Details of the Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening of the facilities are being planned now and we will be sharing how you can be a part of the historic celebration. The Centennial Greenway construction was completed ahead of schedule this winter. With construction funding from Great Rivers Greenway, the one mile trail extension connects Old Highway 94 near Muegge Road across Highway 364 by 2 pedestrian bridges to the St. Charles County Heritage Museum and the existing greenway. This connector across the highways is a long anticipated project for the safe passage of pedestrians to access regional trails throughout the Metro area. We hope you can join us on Saturday, April 7 for the official opening and dedication. We hope you and your family are able to get out and enjoy all your parks and recreation department has to offer as an Extension of Your Own Backyard.

Safety
in the
Parks
While out and about in the parks, the Ranger Division would like to remind you of a few safety tips and rules for everyone to have the most enjoyable experience: • Do not leave valuables inside your vehicle in plain sight of others. Properly secure your belongings or leave them at home. • While exercising in the parks, carry a cell phone or have a buddy join you. • The speed limit within all parks is 15mph. Be vigilant and watch for pedestrians. • Please be sure that all fires within a BBQ pit are extinguished prior to leaving. • Dogs are required to be on a leash at all times and owners are responsible for removing pet waste. • Motorized vehicles may only be used on designated roadways and parking lots. • Please be courteous to other park visitors by picking up your litter and avoid disruptive behavior. • Keep It Close - keeping your phone close can not only save your life in an emergency, but also aid in saving the lives of others. To report a suspicious person, activity or vehicle of concern, call the St. Charles Police/Ranger Dispatch at 636-949-3309. We appreciate all eyes and ears within the parks and welcome comments. General observations can be made by calling the Parks and Recreation Administration Office at 636-949-3372. For immediate emergency response to report fire, medical emergency, or a crime in progress, dial 911.
