REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

Trip registration will be taken only when accompanied by payment. All trips are filled on a first come, first serve basis. Trip Itineraries are subject to change without prior notice. Register By: Mail, Phone, Online or In-Office Acceptable Payments: Cash, Check, Visa, Mastercard or Discover Registrations are non-transferable. Should a cancellation occur, those on the trip’s waiting list will be contacted first to fill the opening.

PAYMENT INFORMATION:

Day Trips and BINGOS Deposit: $10 non-refundable deposit must be received at registration. Cancellation: Cancelling less than 14 days prior to the trip will not receive a refund. Participants cancelling more than 14 days prior to the trip will receive a refund minus a $10 administration fee. Extended Trips/Adventure Tours: Deposit: $50 non-refundable deposit must be received at registration. Cancellation: Cancellation policy will vary with each extended trip depending on the vendors and timelines involved with that particular trip. Check each individual extended trip for the cancellation policy. Final Payments: Individuals are responsible for paying each trip’s remaining balance on time. Reminders are not sent out. Remaining balance for Day Trips is due one month before its scheduled date. “Balance due by” dates are listed under each trip’s description in this brochure. Payment timelines for Extended Trips will be included in their itinerary and posted online once registration opens. 2 | TRIPS

Pick up point for all day trips and extended trips will be at the Memorial Hall parking lot in Blanchette Park unless otherwise stated in the trip’s description. There is plenty of parking available should you wish to leave your vehicle there during the trip.

**PARKS PASSPORT CARD:

The St. Charles Parks and Recreation Department’s Passport Card offers city residents a $5 discount on select trips that are marked in this brochure with two asterisks. This card is free and available to ST. CHARLES CITY RESIDENTS ONLY. To redeem or to renew a Passport Card, visit our Administration Office in Blanchette Park with the following forms of identification: Driver’s License AND Personal Property Tax/Utility Bill. Current card expires, December 31, 2018.

The Discovery of King Tut at the St. Louis Science Center

The Discovery of King Tut exhibition at the St. Louis Science Center will take us on a journey back in time to the ancient world of Egypt. Experience what it was like as archaeologist, Howard Carter, discovered the tomb of King Tutankhamun’s back in 1922. Since most of the original artifacts are not permitted to leave Egypt, artisans expertly hand-crafted 1,000 recreations that will leave you speechless. We’ll learn about this fascinating culture with an audio tour and informative video. Cost includes transportation and admission to the exhibition.

We’ll be rocking and rolling our way to the Peabody Opera House for the musical production of Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story. Buddy tells the enduring tale of the musical icon’s meteoric rise to fame and his final legendary performance at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa, before his tragic and untimely death at the age of 22. In 18 short months the Texas-born boy revolutionized the face of contemporary music influencing everyone from The Beatles to Bruce Springsteen. Living History of Alton, IL

Join us as we take a guided tour into the history of Alton, IL. Walk in the footsteps of Abraham Lincoln as you explore his early career on Alton’s Lincoln & Civil War Legacy Trail. Visit the sites that helped launch Lincoln’s political career. Stand in the midst of the ruins left behind by the Civil War as it touched this river community in the 1860’s. Experienced docents at the sites will tell the stories and engage our group to step back into Alton’s past. Some features of this tour include a stop on Smallpox Island, the house of Lyman Trumbull, the Franklin House, the remains of the Alton Prison and more! Lunch at Aerie’s Winery will follow this educational tour. Enjoy delicious food and beverages while taking in the spectacular view this winery has to offer sitting high in the bluff overlooking the confluence of the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers in Grafton, IL. Audubon at Riverlands and Josephine’s Tea Room

Relax and enjoy the beautiful sights of nature as we take a guided tour through the wetlands with the Audubon Center at Riverlands in Alton, MO. See an ever-changing variety of 325 species of songbirds and waterfowl that live in or migrate through this unique habitat. View bald eagles, herons, egrets and dozens of species of waterfowl up-close in the quiet waters of Ellis Bay. After our tour we will visit the popular Josephine’s Tea Room for lunch. The last stop of the day will be to the Mississippi Mud Pottery, where we will watch a pottery making demonstration and do a little shopping. “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown” at Florissant Civic Center

Get nostalgic with us as we visit the Florissant Civic Center for the musical production of You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. Whether you’re keen to fly with the Red Baron, moon over the Moonlight Sonata, or just do your best to find “happiness,” this musical will please you! Join us for an “average day in the life of Charlie Brown” - a day made up of little moments from Valentine’s Day to baseball season, from wild optimism to utter despair, all mixed with the lives of his friends (both human and non-human) and strung together on the string of a single day, from bright uncertain morning to hopeful starlit evening. Clydesdale Tour at Warm Springs Ranch

Join us as we visit the headquarters of the Budweiser Clydesdale’s Breeding Operation at Warm Springs Ranch in Boonville, MO. Get a behind the scenes look at this beautiful ranch that is situated on 300-plus acres of lush, rolling hills. Home to more than 70 Clydesdales, it features a mare/stallion and foaling barn, veterinary lab and 10 pastures, each with a customized, walk-in shelter. During our guided walking tour we will go behind the scenes to get up-close and personal with the Clydesdales, interact with their handlers, see their luxury trailer and the 1903 beer wagon and sample some Budweiser beer (guests 21+ only). You’ll also have the opportunity to get your photo taken with a Clydesdale, so don’t forget your camera! There will be time to visit the gift shop for souvenirs. **“I Do, I Do” at Stages St. Louis

This intimate musical follows one couple through fifty years of love, quarrels and marriage. The show begins with Michael and Agnes on their wedding day. Their vows behind them, they look forward to spending the rest of their lives together. We watch as they go through their wedding night jitters, raise a family and negotiate midlife crises. Michael eventually admits to his infidelity, and, although Agnes is angered by his actions, she forgives him and the couple reconciles, rediscovering how much they really need each other. ACTIVE AGING (AGES 50+)

This program is designed for adults, ages 50 and older, to increase muscle strength, balance, flexibility and range of motion for daily activities. There will be some resistance equipment used as well as chairs for seated exercises and standing support.

YOGA EASE

This traditional yoga class is designed to focus on slow pace poses and deep stretches in the hips and spine. Yoga provides many health benefits including increasing the strength and control of your body as well as reducing fatigue and stress.

TAI CHI FITNESS

This program is designed to be a safe and effective exercise for a wide range of ages and conditions including arthritis. It uses the Sun Style of Tai Chi with its Qigong exercise to benefit balance, flexibility, mobility, coordination, management of arthritis and health in general.

Tai Chi Level 1: Designed for beginners or those in the early stages of practicing Tai Chi. No previous experience necessary. Tai Chi Level 2: For intermediate Tai Chi participants who have taken at least two session of Tai Chi Level 1.

CULTURAL PROGRAMS ADULT PAINTING: CANVAS CREATIONS (AGES 18 - UP)

Let your artistic side out and join us for the following one-day painting classes! These classes are designed for a fun and social atmosphere so invite your friends, family or coworkers to join us! Every participant will bring home their self-made canvas painting. No prior experience necessary. Light snacks as well as soda and water will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own beverages to class. All patterns are Social Artworking designs.

WREATH WORKSHOP (ALL AGES)

Instead of paying for expensive wreaths at a store, come and enjoy a crafty evening with us! All supplies will be provided and each participant will create their very own wreath to display at their home. These wreaths, or even the class itself, make for a great gift idea as well! Participants 15 or younger must have a parent/guardian present to help assist. Wreath designs are subject to change but the theme will remain the same theme.
