SUMMER NIGHTS

Palatial splendour surrounds orchestral excellence

Recorded and filmed for television broadcast and subsequent domestic release, Austria’s Sommernachtskonzert 2021 on June 18th saw the return of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra’s annual summer night concert with Stageco Deutschland supporting the event as pianist Igor Levit performed under the direction of guest conductor Daniel Harding.

The open-air concert has traditionally taken place annually in the beautiful setting of the Palace of Schönbrunn as one of the great highlights of the Philharmonic year. Surrounded by extraordinary scenery, the orchestra podium and the audience area are usually located in the middle of the baroque park, which has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

RESTRICTIONS

Manfred Porschnitzer co-ordinated Stageco’s work as a seven-arch Micro Arch stage, single towers and additional towers formed of scaffolding were built in an environment governed by pandemic restrictions. The 3,000-strong audience included specially invited guests from the front-line medical profession and teachers from local elementary schools. Together, they enjoyed performances of classics by Verdi, Rachmaninoff, Beethoven, Leonard Bernstein, Debussy, Holst and Strauss.

Sommernachtskonzert 2021 is available on CD, DVD and Blu-Ray from Sony Classical.

When federal elections were held in Germany on September 26th to elect the members of the 20th Bundestag, Stageco Deutschland was proud to be commissioned to build an accessible cable bridge in Berlin for the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and the broadcasting channel ZDF to transmit live electoral news. Sebastian Krass headed the project on behalf of Stageco.
