STAGECO N D EDERLAN
Commissioned by The Matrixx, Stageco Nederland helped to create four major soldout shows by Dutch party act Snollebollekes at Arnhem’s Gelredome Stadium in 2021.
Managed by Michel Wiefferink, the project saw Jorrit van der Kolk and Geert Saarloos head a crew that tipped 10 trailer loads of Layher scaffolding in the stadium where, adjacent to the stage in which a lift platform was built, Stageco constructed two large dance decks.
The main challenge, said Wiefferink, was the short load-in and load-out time available to the production as the stadium is normally in use by football club Vitesse Arnhem. “After Vitesse
played Feyenoord in the Dutch league, there was a UEFA Conference League game against Tottenham Hotspur, so we had to work day and night shifts to get the set built. As soon as the field was halfway through the stadium after the football game, our first trailer drove in. The schedule was very tight, but we got the job done just as we planned.”
GRAND RETURN
Snollebollekes was established in 2013 by comedian Rob Kemps and DJs Jurjen Gofers and Maurice Huismans. Attended by a total audience of 120,000 over four shows, these were the first major indoor live events staged in the Netherlands since the pandemic struck. The act will return to the Gelredome this spring.
