Munich celebrates art and culture in the open air...

A colourful array of cultural highlights greeted audiences in the open air at Munich’s Königsplatz from June 29th to July 5th, as art and culture returned to the region with the opening week of Bayern Spielt (Bavaria Plays) – a calendar of more than 2,000 events initiated and funded by the Bavarian State Ministry for Science and Art in co-operation with bayernkreativ.

Stageco Deutschland project manager Michael Herbst presided over the company’s provision of a staging infrastructure in Königsplatz that accommodated the extraordinary pairing of the Munich Symphony Orchestra with Bavarian band Dreiviertelblut, a reunion of Fatoni & Edgar Wasser, and streetwise hiphop from the sensational Crux Pistols.

Eight truckloads of Stageco equipment arrived on-site, enabling the construction of the ever-popular Micro Arch, accompanied by video portals, a PA tower, a front of house structure and a catwalk.

The opening week of Bayern Spielt – which continued until mid-September – was organised by Eulenspiegel Concerts in co-operation with the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Münchner Symphoniker & Dreiviertelblut, the Residenztheater Munich, Target Concerts, the Muffatwerk and the Munich Volkstheater, with the support of the Cultural Department of the City of Munich.
