Last June, Stageco returned to the European Commission’s Research & Innovation building in Brussels to build substantial elements of the infrastructure for the organisation’s annual flagship Research & Innovation Days, which traditionally bring together policymakers, researchers, entrepreneurs and the public to debate and shape the future of research and innovation in Europe and beyond.

In 2021, the event’s third edition was streamed online on June 23rd and 24th, and attracted more than 21,000 participants from over 100 nations. It also marked the start of Horizon Europe, the most ambitious EU research and innovation programme ever.

At the beginning of the week prior to the event, under Tom Bilsen’s project management, Stageco began the installation of a platform over the R&I building’s entire courtyard, as well as four 12m x 8m pavilion stages that were deployed as closed broadcast studios. Using materials delivered in nine trailers, 14 crew handled the construction work under Patrik Vonckx’s leadership. Bart Dewolf led the 10-person crew for the three-day tear down and load-out.
