The City of Steamboat Springs Parks & Recreation Department offers a fun and exciting assortment of youth summer camps. The activities of each camp are designed to challenge the level of each age group, and daily activities aim to develop skills necessary for the safe enjoyment of outdoor adventures in the Rocky Mountains. The Adventure Bound summer programs also have an inclusion program that addresses children with special needs in a non-restrictive environment.

GOLF CAMP Learn basic golf skills or practice existing skills. Kids practice at the driving range, putting green and bunkers. Advanced players have access to the 9 hole course at Rollingstone Golf Club. SOCCER STARS CAMP

A.S.S.E.T. Summer Camps are single week skill building activities that run throughout the summer. The fee for each camp includes summer day camp from 7:30 AM – 5:45 PM for kids K through 3rd grades, or 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM for kids 4th through 8th grades, along with all activity fees and snacks. Kids will be transported in a city vehicle to and from activities as needed. Listed below are the times that the kids will be in special activities. Parents must provide lunch for A.S.S.E.T. SWIM LESSONS Parks & Recreation partners with the Old Town Hot Springs to provide a special Swim Lesson A.S.S.E.T. Camp to kick-off the summer. American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim levels 1 through 5 are offered. Led by staff from the Steamboat Youth Soccer Club, kids will learn and practice soccer skills and techniques, how to play the game, and enjoy running around on the fields at Soda Creek. GRAND TOUR CAMPOUT Travel to neighboring Grand County to explore Rocky Mountain National Park, stay overnight at Grand Lake, and enjoy a day at the Winter Park Adventure Zone. Finish off the trip with a rafting adventure on the Colorado River. THEATER CAMP Members of the Chief Players will share the many facets of acting and directing. Participants learn new and fun theater improv games, as well as skills associated with acting and directing. Join the crew each day and find out how fun being part of live theater can be! WATER FUN! Join instructors and staff from Mountain Sports Kayak School for this unique camp geared towards beginner and intermediate participants who enjoy water activities. Camp will consist of two days of paddle boarding and two days of kayaking. Kids will learn skills and techniques to be safe and have fun on our local rivers, ponds, lakes and reservoirs. COLORADO ROCKIES BASEBALL Enjoy a fun day at Coors Field as the Colorado Rockies take on the San Francisco Giants. First pitch is at 1:10 PM, and the group will arrive early enough to watch warm up and grab lunch. Date: Thursday, May 9 Cost: $30 (Includes Transportation & Admission) Time: 7:30 AM to 8:30 PM

DENVER’S DAZZLE JAZZ BAR Spend an afternoon at the Dazzle Jazz Bar with music, food, and cocktails. Enjoy creative comfort food from the bar’s lunch menu, and wet your whistle with one of Dazzle’s famous cocktails. While you dine, enjoy the smooth sounds of the live jazz band. SAILING TOUR IN FRISCO

The City of Steamboat Springs Parks & Recreation Department offers a wide variety of exciting summer activities and trips for anyone 55 years and finer. Activity fees include transportation, admission fees, tickets, and hotel when necessary. Meals are not included in the activity fee and are the responsibility of the participant. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a scenic two hour sailing tour on the dazzling clear water of Lake Dillon. The group will board a 22’ Ensign Boat with captain and crew at noon. Bring a drink and picnic lunch to enjoy on the water. Enjoy spectacular views of the Continental Divide, Buffalo Mountain, Red Mountain, and the 10 Mile Range. ADULT SOFTBALL Adult Coed Softball is the largest league and has the most participants of any program offered. Five separate leagues cater to a wide range of abilities and competition levels. Each summer softball league guarantees a total of 14 games + playoffs. SOCCER From the turf to the grass, the City of Steamboat Springs Parks & Recreation Department offers a variety of high level soccer opportunities for local soccer lovers. Summer leagues offer participants at least 10 games + playoffs in a fun 11v11 format (8 male / 3 female minimum). HAYMAKER GOLF COURSE

GIRLS ON THE GREEN Specifically designed for girls, this instructional program covers all aspects of the game of golf in a fun, peer group setting. Fee covers instruction, clubs, food, and beverages. Ages: 11+ Years Old Skill Level: All Levels Days/Times: Wednesdays | June 12 through August 7 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM Cost: $20 / Session

NEVER EVER

Located just outside of Steamboat Springs in the lush Yampa Valley, Haymaker Golf Course is a unique gem. Snow-capped Mount Werner and the spectacular Flat Top Mountain Range serve as a picturesque backdrop as you play the links-style course. The native grasses and wetlands enhance the wide open fairways, and you’ll often spot elk and blue herons in the area. YOUTH PROGRAMS SNAG - STARTING NEW AT GOLF Haymaker is excited to offer SNAG for our young golfers. SNAG is the best first touch program to aid in teaching the game of golf. The program excels at transitioning entry-level juniors to playing the real game. Parent participation is encouraged in all SNAG programs. Come join our professional instructors and experience the fun of golf. Never Ever is an instructional program for kids 9-13 years of age who have never played the game of golf. Participants are introduced to all of the basic fundamentals of the game in a fun environment. Ages: 9-13 Years Old Skill Level: Beginner Days/Times: Tuesdays | June 11 through August 6 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Cost: $20 / Session

BEYOND THE BASICS Designed for Junior players ages 9-13 years of age who have had previous instruction. The program builds on fundamental golf skills while introducing advanced techniques for improvement. Ages: 9-13 Years Old Skill Level: Experienced Days/Times: Tuesdays & Fridays| June 11 through August 6 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM Cost: $25 / Session


ADVANCED ACADEMY Advanced Academy is a 3-day, concentrated instructional program designed for the advanced player who is working to elevate their game, and play golf at a competitive level in high school and beyond. Each day will consist of 2 hours of instruction, including video analysis, followed by 9 holes of on-course instruction. Ages: 12-17 Years Old Skill Level: Experienced Days/Times: Session 1: June 20 through June 22 Session 2: July 25 through July 27 Wednesday through Friday 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM Cost: $300 / Session

MONDAY MORNING PLAY DAY Junior golfers play 9 holes then practice with a Haymaker Pro! With 9 holes reserved for Juniors only, it is the perfect atmosphere for kids to learn to play on the course. ADOPT-A-TRAIL Adopt-A-Trail is a volunteer opportunity open to individuals, groups, and businesses that are interested in taking an active role in improving their city trails. Sign up for a two-year commitment to monitor and work on a section at least four times between May and October. Typical work involves trash and debris removal, reporting problems, and special projects as needed such as pruning, bench painting, etc. Volunteers can easily apply to maintain sections of the Core Trail and other neighborhood trails such as Blue Sage, Fox Creek, and Lower Spring Creek (Sailors Way). All trail sections are currently adopted, but feel free to contact us to be placed on the waitlist. 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS

Summer programs and special events have been extremely successful, thanks to the passion and commitment of our volunteers. There are several exciting volunteer opportunities already lined up for anyone looking to get involved this summer.

TRAIL MAINTENANCE WORK DAYS In 2019, the Open Space and Trails crew will host a variety of volunteer days on city trails and open space properties. Work days provide a great opportunity to get outside and be involved in the community. Each project will be different, so there will be something for everyone! Depending on the

Be a part of one of Colorado’s biggest and best firework shows! As a volunteer for the annual 4th of July Fireworks Show, you’ll get hands-on experience helping event coordinators with a variety of fun tasks related to the fireworks extravaganza. Volunteer opportunities include pre-event set-up, which involves moving supplies and assembling infrastructure at the firework launch sites. In return for your hard work, join staff at the launch sites for an up close view of the show later that night. Lunch will be provided.
