CARRAZANA interior design portfolio
HELLO! I'M STEPHANIE CARRAZANA, PREFERRABLY STEPH! I'M AN INTERIOR DESIGNER, TRAVELER, MUSIC ENTHUSIAST, ANIMAL LOVER AND I SPEND A LOT OF MY TIME OUTDOORS. I'm a 4th year Interior Design student at Florida State University. During my time in school I've learned a lot more than the technical and functional aspects of design. I've found that design is all encompassing and caters to people of all types through simplifying this chaotic world we live in. Empathy and passion are the two qualities that drive my designs. I believe that design is a journey that requires understanding, patience and an open-mind and has the potential to shape people's lives and experiences. My mission is to create holistic spaces that facilitate happiness and laughter, comfort and functionality, healing and sustainability. Some of my interests include: curating Spotify playlists, plant based foods, sun bathing, vintage cars, YouTube, yoga, architecture, hot tea, doodling, landscape photography & cuddling up with my cat, Floyd.

R+B INTERIOR DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE FIRM R&B Interior Design & Architecture Firm was created in 2009 by Ethan Royal and Ruslanas Byckovas. The pair met at Arquitectonica, where they both began their careers. Working at a large firm allowed them to get first hand exposure to the future of Miami's development. They noticed that while most firms were working on huge projects concentrated on scale and location, they were more interested in designing places that were somehow forgotten in chaos of the development boom. It is this knack and desire to create innovative yet small scale projects that inspired Royal and Byckovas to open their own studio. Similarly, to how origami artists transform a single flat sheet of paper into something extraordinary, Royal & Byckovas create reactionary designs from forsaken places in Miami. Their knack for transforming forgotten spaces is what inspired the redesign of R&B's Miami office. The shifting of planes and proportion will influence the architectural elements within the space. Rhythm and proportion will be used to stimulate a sense of change upon entering each space while contrast in the use of materials creates a sense of contemplation and excitement for visitors and employees.

As visitors enter the space, they are greeted by a striking and austere reception area. The space is finished with weathered materials such as cast-in-place concrete and a black textured wall covering that holds acoustical properties. The purpose of this space is to honor the "forgotten" spaces that R&B put time into saving. The use of dark colors and low angled ceiling allows for a visitor to feel tranquil and contrasts what is to come when they enter the office space.

RECEPTION
MEETING AREA
The meeting area serves as a place to spark creativity and inspiration for clients and employees. The space is located just off the reception area and creates a huge contrast of emotion for a visitor to experience. Geometric forms and bright colors create an energetic environment. The space also caters to the well-being of an employee by providing an ample amount of window seating for one to enjoy the Miami landscape.

The work cafe and design library are in the heart of the workplace and serve as a hub for collaboration and rejuvenation. The rhythm in the acoustical wood ceilings and work cafe counter balance to mimic the different folding techniques in the art of origami. The space features black and white finishes to contrast the use of bright accent colors which heighten the senses and represent the different colors of origami papers.
WORK CAFE + DESIGN LIBRARY 07
WORKPLACE The workspace area is designed to deliver comfort and promote creativity. It's located below the general gathering area to allow employees to create a sense of place within the office. The open concept and assigned work stations deliver to the culture of the company by allowing for collaboration regardless of one's position. Located underneath the stairs is a central work zone where employees can gather and work a ways from their desks. Window seating and lounger benches are also an option for times when someone might need a quick break.

The arts consistently suffer from budgetary restrictions that impede opportunities for students in both lower and higher education. The HAUS, a gallery, music venue. and workshop space, will serve as a haven for any local and all artisans to collaborate, learn, and generate inspiration. Art education and hands-on learning has been proven to benefit skill development in effective learning, critical thinking, reflection and positive behavioral change. Local lower education schools that neighbor the HAUS currently exhibit underperformance when it comes to academics and limit exposure to the arts. The HAUS will serve as a medium for art and music teachers to continue and expand education of the arts in Tallahassee by offering educators a consistent and reliable location for classes, allowing local musicians to build a fanbase, giving local artists the means to exhibit and sell their work, and creating a place that will bring the community together.
PARTIAL FLOOR
FLOOR 1
The HAUS is inspired by The Bauhaus, a German art school, who rejected traditional approaches to education and introduced a new way of life though architecture, craftsmanship, and the integration of the arts. The creative hub references intuitive wayfinding using a relatively open plan and transparent/reflective materials. This promotes interaction among visitors and gives way to a multifunctional space. Geometric forms are featured throughout in combination with the use of honest materials to create a minimal and easily customizable atmosphere. The HAUS utilizes The Bauhaus principles and ideals to inspire, educate, and encourage visitors to look at things in a new and profound way.

theLOBBY The lobby represents the lightness and industrial integrity reminiscent of the Bauhaus style. Visitors are greeted with a large graphic coupled with text to educate those on the principles of The Bauhaus School and their relevancy in today's world. A custom reception desk and logo panel is modeled after a Bauhaus desk and uses metal, vertical and horizontal planes and colored glass. Transparency and contrast in materials inspires users to explore the building at their leisure.

theGALLERY Architectural promenade was the term in mind while designing the gallery space. Glass partitions glide to the perimeter walls during the day allowing visitors to create their own path of exploration. During the evening when the venue remains open, but the gallery is closed, the glass panels enclose free standing gallery walls for security and optimal viewing. Guests are invited to move around the gallery in a linear procession and gain introspection and inspiration from featured artists.

theSTUDIO A circular floor plan informs a connected and diverse space meant to teach and refine craftsmanship of all kind. Expansive windows are reminiscent of those found at the original Bauhaus and allow natural light to dominate this space of growth and understanding. Storage is located along the walls and in the center of the space allowing circulation to flow freely and provide privacy for each zone.

The venue entry provides variety and contrast as visitors travel from a place of craftsmanship and observation, and into a space that lowers inhibitions and inspires organic movement. Reflective flooring, linear light and black walls juxtapose the muted tones seen in the other public spaces, as guests prepare for a less structured experience dominated by light and sound. Walter Gropius's famous quote, "Less is More", is symbolized at the corridor end, and can also be interpreted as directional cues into the space.

SHAPING HUMAN WELLNESS
03 SIZE: 3,700 sq ft DURATION: 10 weeks PROJECT YEAR: Studio 4, Fall 2018 SOFTWARE USED: Revit, Lumion, Photoshop, InDesign PROJECT TYPE: Healthcare
Southwood Medical Clinic is a Tallahassee Memorial Hospital property that is currently expanding Dr. Matthew Standridge’s practice. During the site visit to the new space, Dr. Standridge commented that the most important aspect of his job is dedicating time to each patient to understand their needs and gain their trust. He also emphasized that the redesign creates a patient centered medical home to benefit visitors of all ages no matter what their state of health might be. The mantra, healing is not linear, inspired the redesign of the clinic. This goes to say that the process of healing is just that, a process. Healing doesn't happen suddenly. There will be waves of uncertainty that will come but those feelings will pass, and one will improve day by day. The main inspiration behind this will be the fluctuation of nature. Water, Fire, Earth, Wind and Space are all interrelated energies that are evident throughout nature, including in the human body. Organic forms and horizontals will be prominent throughout the space to represent that aspect of nature while also allowing for clear sight lines to create a sense of tranquility for the visitor. The 5 elements will influence the color palette of the space and create an environment that invokes positivity, balance, and respite.
DESIGN GOALS • Create a space that evokes positivity, balance, and respite with the use of color and organic materials • Promote visitor & employee health and well-being through mindful specifications and copious natural light • Reduce anxiety and distractions through acoustic absorbing surfaces and sound masking systems • Deliver a sense of tranquility by allowing for clear sight lines throughout the space • Allow for universal accessibility and easy way-finding for visitors
17
The floor plan features curvilinear elements to represent the organic nature of Space, one of the 5 elements. Circulation is intended to be a circle for visitors to allow for ease in wayfinding and allows for natural light to enter most rooms. In the center of circulation is the nurses' station, this location puts nurses near patients and allows for a large daily step reduction. The floor plan also allows for a clear separation of public and private space. Employees and visitors have entire wings of the clinic to themselves. This creates a professional environment and allows for a clear balance in patientdoctor relationship.

ENTRY & REFRESH 19
Upon arrival to Southwood Medical Clinic visitors are directly greeted with a central checkin. This area is accented with a water wall that emits a quiet ambient noise to instill calmness. Materials like stone and wood are used throughout to represent the element that is Earth. Ceiling heights are brought down in areas where gathering occurs to ground those spaces and make them a bit cozier. Finally, the two areas are divided by a slightly opaque partition to give a sense of privacy in the waiting area while also keeping the space airy.
WAITING ROOM
The waiting room is often the place where patients form initial anxieties when visiting a doctor's office. The redesign of Southwood Medical Clinic aims to do the exact opposite within this space. Different seating options are provided to allow patients to have a sense of choice while creating an environment that feels more like home. Curvilinear forms are featured in the space and are contrasted by the horizontals in the custom wallcovering. Finally, blue and orange tones are used to represent the elements Water & Fire.

MAIN CORRIDOR 21
EXAM HALL Upon entering the clinic, one is greeted by the vitals zone (not pictured) and then introduced to the exam rooms. This area was designed to allow for the patients to receive the most amount of daylight because there are few windows within the space. Circulation is fluid to allow for ease in wayfinding and provide clear sightlines to both employees and patients. The nurses' station is anchored in the center of the space through the use of floor changes and a private area that is accented with acoustic wood panels. Above this area is a skylight that allows for natural light to enter the space.
The exam hall is minimal and delicate to symbolize the element of Air. This allows the space to feel bright and positive. Large room numbers are placed on the exam room doors to allow for ease in wayfinding.
The lab doubles as the blood draw area in the space. This benefits the nurses the most as it allows for them to have a smaller footprint throughout the office. Artwork and a warm color palette allow the space to feel friendly and inviting to reduce stress patients might have when getting blood drawn.

Asuncion, Paraguay is the capital and largest city in Paraguay. It is home is one of the most homogeneous populations in the world with 80% being Mestizo (Spanish + Native Guarani). It is said that if Paraguay and its beautiful people were to be described in one word, it would be this one. Casa Tranquilopa is a place where business workers can find rest after a long day of work and where tourists can feel at home while vacationing. The hotel embraces the traditional Spanish Colonial architecture found throughout the city and adds a spa, native-like feel to instill the tranquility that tranquilopa refers to. The use of warm tones in combination with subdued colors that are found in the greenery throughout the city streets allows one to feel as if they are in a familiar space as soon as they step through the doors. The 5-star restaurant, bar & lounge, and day spa seek to welcome locals into the hotel and bring authentic and native culture within. The guest suites were designed to resemble your typical Paraguyan home interior. Walls are white washed to keep the space light and bright. Arches are featured as ornamentation to relate ot the Spanish Colonial architecture present throughout the hotel. The art on the walls is hand crafted by local Paraguyans. They are nanduti lace, a traditional art form of the Guarani people that is characterized by a spoke-like structure of threads that they embroider by hand. All rooms feature amenities such as a water filter to reduce plastc waste from water bottles, an air purifier, yoga mat, essential oil diffuser, and a wireless phone speaker.
