A very good crowd gathered for the 2022 Ohio Beef Expo Shorthorn sale in Columbus. Offered in this year’s sale was a top set of Shorthorn genetics in all categories. The cattle selling represented many of the leading blood lines in the breed today. There was active bidding in this snappy sale with cattle going to Shorthorn breeders new and old. Congratulations to the consignors and to the Ohio Shorthorn Association for the presentation of a quality event.

$6,500 - Lot 16 - Open Heifer - DASC Cindy Beauty 2103 ET. A roan, polled January 28, 2021 daughter of CLF Foolin’ Around 1404 ET and out of CLF Miss Buckeye 1403. This one is truly a fancy young show prospect that had many friends at the sale. Her sire is a consistent sire of the right kind of cattle and this is a good one. Super complete with plenty of dimension to go with it. Offered by DASCO Cattle Company and purchased by Rockn’ B Cattle Co of Amsterdam, Ohio. $5,000 - Lot 3 - Bull - Pleasant White Lightening. A white, horned January 2021 son of MM Nugget 23F and out of KKP Miss Roan Macy. This was the Champion Bull in the pre-sale show. He is stout made with the dimension and bone all like to see in a herd bull. He can create stout replacement heifers and steers in the future. Offered by Pleasant View Farms and purchased by John Collins of Reedsville, Ohio. $4,100 - Lot 26 - ShorthornPlus Bred Heifer - JJB Moonstar 428C ET. A blue roan, polled April 2020 daughter of FSF Hardline 7143 ET and out of SULL Blue Jean 8253 ET selling bred to Hot Commodity for a Spring 2022 calf. This was a crowd favorite. She is a super complete bred heifer that has all the pieces to make her a great cow. Her outstanding pedigree make her a leader in any herd. Offered by Big Apple Cattle Co and purchased by Cody Haddix of Williamsburg, Ohio. $4,000 - Lot 1 - Bull - TOF Gambler 58H. A roan, polled October 2020 son of Kane Captain 10B and out of TOF Sweet Tea ET. This bull has great bone and dimension to go with a great pedigree. His sire gives him built in calving ease and with his color, he should sire attractive calves that are built for the show ring. Offered by Twin Oaks Farms and purchased by Ryan Batt of Salem, Indiana. $3,800 - Lot 14 - Bred Heifer - MBCF Pearl Cosmo. A roan, horned April 2020 daughter of MBCF Cosmo and out of Tooms Pearl selling bred to STS Raising Kane for a late Spring 2022 calf. This was another top bred female in this sale. She has the volume and dimension to a great producer in the future. Offered by Maple Brook Farms and purchased by Branden Yoder of Burbank, Ohio. =

National Alternate Lassie Queen Sierra Betts and the saw that was sold at the sale with the proceeds going to help her with her travel expenses. With her are the Cowdens of Hornhead Valley in Hickory, Pennsylvania who purchased the saw for $5000. A big thank you to the Cowdens.
