A brisk, sunny morning welcomed a huge crowd to the Valley for the 2022 edition of this leading Shorthorn bull sale. There were over 200 that registered for buyers numbers prior to the auction. When everyone gathered before the start of the sale, there was standing room only in the facility. The bulls offered this year were of the highest quality and represented pedigrees that are in demand. Congratulations to Paint Valley Farms, Byland Polled Shorthorns and Beckler Shorthorns for the presentation of a truly great event. $50,000 - Lot 1 - Eighteen Seventy Two - A roan, polled March 18, 2021 son of Byland Flash 9U106 and out of PVF Beauty Queen 56Z. This great young sire has had everyone talking about him for several months. He is named in honor of the 150th Anniversary of the American Shorthorn Association and that name will be heard from in the breed for many years. This young stud has the look of a herd bull. His overall dimension and structure is superior. His bone and foot are what everyone likes to see. He was the lead bull in the Champion Pen of Five in Oklahoma City. This one has a bright future ahead of him. From Paint Valley and purchased by Cagwin Farms of Virginia, Illinois. $38,000 - Lot 8 - PVF Swagger 1021 - A roan, polled March 22, 2021 son of Byland Soggy Dog 7TM73 and out of PVF Golden Chain 41A. Another member of the Champion Pen of Five and this one is special. He has superior thickness to go with depth of rib and a big foot. He is very flexible and will surely be a top breeding sire. Offered by Paint Valley and purchased by Beckler Shorthorns of Wooster, Ohio. $15,500 - Lot 2 - PVF Feature 1051 ET. A roan, polled March 22, 2021 son of Byland Flash 9U106 and out of PVF Beauty Queen 5Z. This top young bull is a flush mate to 1872 and also a member of the Champion Pen of Five. This one has the look of a herd bull and is extremely sound in his structure. This one will definitely be a herd builder in his future. Offered by Paint Valley and purchased by Larry Jerome of Barrow, Wisconsin. $12,500 - Lot 52 - Byland Cash 1R088. A roan, polled March 29, 2021 son of Byland Rolex 7RX69 and out of Byland Cindy 7U122. This one has a great profile and the added muscle pattern everyone likes to see. The Rolex progeny continue to impress. Along with his look, he has an unequaled EPD profile with (6) categories being in the top 1% of the breed. That is almost unheard of. A roan, polled February 6, 2021 son of JSF McCoy 39Z and out of Beckler Cindy Beauty 17G. This great youngster was on the top of many lists at the sale. His great design and balance made him very popular. When you saw him, he never stopped wrong after moving. He will transmit that overall look to his progeny. A roan, polled March 1, 2021 son of Byland Soggy Dog 7TM73 and out of Byland Jenny 3G4. This massive young bull was also a member of the Champion Pen of Five in OKC. He is really deep sided with the length of body and thickness to make him a leading sire of the right kind. Offered by Paint Valley and purchased by David Studer of Shelby, Ohio. $12,000 - Lot 10 - PVF Steeltown 651. A roan, polled March 2, 2021 son of Byland Soggy Dog 7TM73 and out of Byland Augusta 3G66. This is a long sided powerful bull with a big foot and great muscle shape. He is in the top 1% of the breed for $BMI. He was also a member of the Champion Pen of Five in OKC.
