ou’ve made the big decision, you said “yes”. Planning a wedding several months in advance will ensure you will both have “the most beautiful day of your lives”. First of all, you should work out a budget. This should include everything which must be bought or rented. Then you should fix the date to start enquiring about venues. The reception is certainly a crucial element - Choosing the right place to gather with your loved ones is no small task. On the day of the reception, you will want everything, from the service to the general ambiance and the decorations adorning the tables, to meet the highest standards. To have the perfect location and the best caterer, you might have to make your reservations a year or more in advance. Depending on the season, many of the choicest venues are reserved a long time in in advance, usually several months or even years ahead of time. This means it’s important to decide on the kind of place you’d like as soon as possible and to start
looking without delay. In order to avoid disappointment, start phoning suitable venues as soon as you become engaged. Be sure to make an appointment to visit any places you think would be suitable. Bear in mind that it is wise to choose a place that is not too far from where family and friends live. Another factor to weigh is its proximity to your church. If you prefer an outdoor wedding, the biggest challenge in organizing an outdoor wedding is the unpredictability of the elements. This is why it is so important to have a Plan B in case of bad weather. Because of this, you will not only have to choose the right location, you will also have to coordinate all the necessary logistics in order for your reception to be a success. No matter your budget, the Franklin area offers plenty of alternatives for a wonderful wedding party.

He has finally proposed - Then your top priority is to do a bit of bragging and tell everyone the good news!
1
Establish your budget per guest. In fact, this is the perfect time to draw up your guest list.
2
Order your invitations, being careful to include your names, the date, time, and place of the wedding and reception, as well as the date by which you need to receive replies. Be sure to include stamped, addressed envelopes if you can.
3
The reception hall is often one of the biggest expenses, so be sure to reserve one as quickly as possible.
4
Creating a good atmosphere is just as important as choosing a caterer, although you don’t want to skimp on food either. To cut costs, consider serving fewer courses, with a focus on excellent quality instead of quantity.
5
Make up or order wedding favours for your guests. These are put with their place setting or offered at the end of the reception. Let your imagination run wild: you could offer small homemade soaps, candles, local produce in mini format, bath pearls, or small boxes of candies.
6
Give yourself enough time to find a wedding gown that really suits your personality. It is also possible to rent a dress for the occasion, much as your beloved can buy or rent his suit.

The river can also provide the bride and groom a stunning entrance by boat, or if preferred we offer the services of a number of classic vehicles including a horse drawn carriage.
7
Book your hair, make-up and manicure appointments several weeks before the wedding. If possible, plan a test run.
8
Put all your heart into writing down the vows that you would like to make during the marriage ceremony. If you plan to make a speech at the reception, be sure to get that down in writing as well.
9
Plan the reception down to the last detail: create the atmosphere you like with suitable music, entertainment, and a décor that matches your personality. (Don’t forget to decorate the bathrooms, a place everyone will see at some point!)

Quick Tip.. Leave a guest book

Finding a caterer
Giving wedding candy and choosing the right wines is a thoughtful gesture that your guests are sure to appreciate.
C
andy has been a part of weddings for centuries. The traditional treat offered to guests is the sugared almond, a symbol of pleasure, happiness, and prosperity. Still a favourite at weddings today, sugared almonds are a wink to the past and are, at the same time, a sign of refinement and elegance.
An all important decision
Quick Tips..
• Establish a budget before meeting with a caterer and stick to it. • Make a list of questions to ask • Request a sampling of menu item choices
A delicious meal will be remembered by your guests, so do your homework before making your choice
Sugared nuts are known in French as dragées, the name North American bakers now give to the tiny, round silver candies used to decorate wedding cakes. If you’re a stickler for the real thing, though, handfuls of almonds delicately coated with smooth, glossy sugar are beautiful when scattered on tables or served in decorative bowls with cocktails. Plan for a kilogram of sugared almonds for every 20 to 30 people. If you order your dragées from a candy maker, be sure to order them at least two or three months in advance of the wedding; the real thing takes about ten days to make!
Finding a caterer for your wedding is just one of the tasks that need to be arranged, but it is a fundamental one. Ideally, you want the best, but the “best” is what is considered best for you and your personal needs. So decide beforehand what your expectations are in a caterer as there are several things to consider that will help you make your choice. Begin by inviting estimates for various menus. Don’t hesitate to question the caterer on different points: is he or she experienced in wedding banquets? How many other weddings will they be catering that weekend? Are they classic or creative? It is wise to make an appointment with your caterers to taste both the wine and the dishes they are proposing. If you still can’t make up your mind, base your decision on the style of your wedding, the time of year, or the place you have chosen for the reception.
Although tradition calls for wedding candy to be given as gifts to all the guests, there are plenty of other options available. Aside from the clas-

A Marriage of Food and Wine For starters, consider what flavors, styles and varieties of foods you will be serving at the reception, then you can pair specific wines with the selected foods to bring the unique flavors out the best. If you are planning on serving several types of wine in addition to champagne you may consider a combination of whites and reds. Consider: Awhitu Wines.

A picture perfect wedding begins and ends with a clearly defined look and style. Everything, from the décor to your makeup, can be orchestrated in detail so that your personal tastes and flair are remembered by all .
A
bride’s hairstyle is essential to the look she wishes to create for her wedding.
Giving
Some of your guests will give you wedding gifts that are not on your wedding registry. However, the majority prefer using your registry because they know this list of articles corresponds to your specific needs and personal taste. Make your list a bit longer than the number of invited guests, as this will allow a certain leeway in the selection of items your guests will wish to offer you as gifts. Choose small and practical gifts. Offer articles that range in prices that will be suitable for any kind of budget, even the smallest. Do a tour of the boutiques and shops in your area, and pick the one which has items that most closely match your list. Complete your wedding registry at least one month before your first bridal shower. Inform your parents and close friends so that they can advise your other guests where you are registered and how to access your wedding registry. Consider: Vanilla
Choosing among this year’s trends is one way to find the perfect style. The classic bun is a popular choice, especially because it fits with the retro chic trend. Brides with fine hair can opt for a cut and style, with a square cut or a plunging bob. If they want to keep their hair long, extensions are ideal for filling out some volume. Tiaras or headbands are lovely; some wrap partially or completely around the head and come decorated with flower and leaf patterns, curves, arabesques, pearls, or Swarovski crystals. Such jewels are as perfect in loose hair as they are with loose braids or buns. With the help of your hairdresser, you can create the hairstyle you’ve always dreamed of. Be sure to make an appointment well ahead of your wedding day for a consultation about options and styles. Consider: Redz. Treating yourself to a professional makeup session will ensure that you shine just the way you want to on this beautiful day. On your wedding day, you want your makeup to accent your natural beauty. Concentrating on your natural colour, your eyes and your mouth, your beautician
will be able to help you create a small masterpiece. Make an appointment with a professional cosmetician as early as possible and be sure to plan a trial session to avoid any disappointment the morning of your wedding. Before then, keep in mind the basic beauty secret for good skin: drink lots of water, gently exfoliate to get rid of dead skin, and moisturize the skin morning and night. Consider: Belle of the Ball.

Picture Perfect Dress for Success Stylish Shoes... For an event as important as a wedding, it is
absolutely essential to dress in an appropriate manner and appear well groomed. FOR HER: For the bride or even the mother-in-law for that matter, choosing a dress to suit your body type is imperitave. Thousands of different styles and models of wedding gowns are available on the market, one more beautiful than the next, however knowing your body type will help in finding the style of dress that will best suit you. No matter what your body type, let your instincts guide you towards the dress of your dreams. Don’t hesitate to ask for a few extra adjustments from the shop’s seamstress so that you will feel completely comfortable. Consider: Magazine Designer Clothing. FOR HIM: On the wedding day, it may be true that all eyes are on the bride, but a welldressed groom will still be appreciated. A classy and unique suit is on the agenda; one that he feels comfortable in, one that corresponds to his personal style and that is tailored to his body shape. For an impeccably fitted suit, the groom should have a last fitting at the tailor’s, two or three weeks before the wedding. He is one of the main stars of this celebration, after all! If the groom sets the tone for the evening in his choice of wardrobe, it is with the small touches that he distinguishes himself. An assortment
of accessories in different colours and styles is always a wise choice. A tailored shirt is a distinguished touch; and a coloured shirt can be quite striking, if it’s in keeping with the colour scheme of the wedding. Keep in mind that a shirt made of natural fibres will not only look better; it will be more comfortable. Cufflinks can complete the overall look with a touch of class. Regardless, the groom must absolutely avoid wearing an outdated. His suit must fit perfectly. By choosing a supple fabric that adapts to the body, the suit will fit better. Consider: Lewis for Menswear.
In all your pre-planning, don’t forget to shop for your honeymoon. Consider: David Mills for luggage & Cavalli Interios for leisure wear.
For Him: It is said that every ceremony requires polished shoes, especially, when the ceremony is a wedding! That is why patent leather shoes are the most popular choice and, while they generally complement any suit the groom wears, they are an absolute requisite for a white tie event.
Bridal shoes can make or break a wedding for a bride. Not only does the right shoe have to match the bride, the day, and the dress, but it must be comfortable enough to wear throughout the ceremony, photo session, and reception formalities. Consider: Halliwells

Quick Tips..
• Do you have an hourglass shape (shoulders & hips of equal width, with smaller waist)? You could treat yourself to a “mermaid” gown that accentuates your curves. • For apple or V-shaped figures (shoulders broader than the hips), look for an empire waist or A-line dress which will balance your proportions. • If your hips are wider than your shoulders, you have a pear or A-shaped figure. Look for an A-line style and avoid a straight or mermaid dress that draws eyes where you don’t want them to be. • When your shoulders, hips, and waist are all of a similar width, you have a straight or I-shape. Avoid a straight dress, opting for an A-line or princess style or one with a bodice, which will create a more curved effect. • If you’re petite, look for a simple dress without too many frills. Belts should be avoided, as they will cut your silhouette in two where a lengthening effect would be

Are you thinking of saving money by asking your brother-in-law to take your wedding pictures? Ask people who didn’t use a professional photographer if they have any regrets, and you’ll soon understand that photography is one area where it doesn’t pay to skimp. Your wedding marks an important transition in your life. Don’t let the magic fade away; make sure that your memories remain unforgettable. Choosing a professional photographer means ensuring that your photos will be of exceptional quality, and that they will be taken with discretion during the ceremony. An experienced photographer will pay attention to all the details, taking photos at the appropriate time and place. Check the photographer’s portfolio to ensure that the pictures are of excellent quality, with superior colour reproduction and angles that are to your liking. If you also decide to immortalize your wedding on video, be sure to obtain top quality images and sound. You should select a company that provides qualified, experienced personnel and high-quality equipment. Consider: Wendy & Chris, Bride & Zoom, Casey Van Liefe & Execam. Flowers: a key element of any wedding
In many people’s minds, a successful wedding event often rests on the choice of flowers. The most beautiful of Mother Nature’s offerings, they are essential for setting the tone of the day. The trend is towards smaller bouquets and less imposing floral centerpieces on the tables. Vases are appearing in all shapes, sizes, and materials: ceramic, zinc, glass, and stoneware, for example. Regardless of the colors, tradition still rules the size of a bouquet. Choose a simple bouquet if your outfit is fairly ornate. If your gown is simple, exoticism and creativity can run wild. Round bouquets go well with tapered dresses, and cascading bouquets are perfect for gowns with trains.

Future brides and grooms don’t always realize just how much time they will have to devote to organizing their wedding. From the moment your engagement is announced, many hours will be spent making innumerable decisions and countless appointments. But don’t worry: you can save an amazing amount of time by dealing with local businesses. The first notes of Mendelssohn’s Wedding March fill the church and everyone turns to watch as the bride, more beautiful than ever, appears on her father’s arm. Yes, even today, most people expect this type of traditional beginning to a wedding ceremony. But if you find it all pretty boring and would like to be a bit more innovative. Do you have scottish in your blood? Perhaps a piper to escort you down the isle? On the other hand if you find that radition isn’t sacred for you, why not go down the aisle on roller blades? Consider: Pukekoke RSA Pipe Band. Part of planning for your wedding is arranging transportation. If you’re planning a simple wedding, a stylish car for the bride and groom should suffice. If the wedding is to be more elaborate, you might wants a limousine, vehicles for the parents of the bride and groom, as well as the other members of the wedding procession. Don’t forget a comfortable vehicle for your honeymoon rendevouz.
Consider: Ebbett’s, Waiuku Rental Cars Once all the pomp and ceremony are over, your evening of wedding festivities should be joyful and reflect your personal style. Whether you want the dance floor to be hopping with old fashioned swing, swaying with easy-to-dance-to classics, or swirling with Klezmer music, choosing the right DJ or band will make all the difference. Most likely, you will want a good mix of musical styles. If this is the case, a professional disk jockey might be your best bet. Consider: Franklin Party Hire. Everyone would agree that organizing a wedding isn’t an easy thing to do, and so it can be very reassuring to be able to count on people in your area to make a success of this important event. If you decide that a reception venue is not for you and you would rather do it yourself then consider Manukau Party Hire. Last by not least, since the beginning of time, diamonds have been seen as the symbol of love. Whatever type of wedding you’re planning, wedding rings are an essential part of the celebration.
