S
pring is a time of newness, and I’m pleased to announce several new additions to our parks. This April, we will be hosting the Grand Opening of the Pavilion at Lemay - a multi-million dollar project, nearly ten years in the making. This gorgeous state-ofthe-art community center includes fitness facilities offering group classes, indoor sports and meeting rooms. The walking track circles the building offering a 360-degree view of beautiful Jefferson Barracks Park. The aquatic center, opening this summer, features a deep diving pool flanked by a rock climbing wall. I am also pleased to announce the Grand Opening of the Aquatic Center at the North County Recreation Complex. This beautiful water park was finished last August and will host its grand opening in May. The complex will be a wonderful summer destination with a lazy river, children’s play equipment and water slides. I’d like to thank our Parks Department for their tireless efforts to make these projects a reality. Of course, all of our County Parks will be hosting wonderful events throughout the summer and I encourage all St. Louis County residents to take advantage and enjoy with their family and friends. Yours very truly,
Steven V. Stenger St. Louis County Executive

Did You Know? Music can increase workout endurance. Listening to those top workout tracks can boost physical performance and increase endurance during a tough exercise session . This works partly through the power of distraction: When we’re focusing on a favorite album, we may not notice that we just ran an extra mile.

You Can Paddle Day
Come on out to the north end of Creve Coeur Lake Park for the Alpine Shop’s annual Demo Day! This is our largest paddle demo day of the year featuring representatives from all of our major watersport brands. This is the one time each year that we can offer you the chance to paddle nearly every boat available to us through our vendors if we don’t normally stock at our stores or carry demo models year-round. If this will be your first kayak, this is a great opportunity to see which boat style will work best for you. If you’re considering upgrading your boat this year to something that fits your style of paddling better than what you currently have, there is simply no other time on the schedule during this entire year that will afford you the opportunity to find the exact boat that is right for you. You will also learn how to effectively communicate with your dog on a level that he understands. In the intermediate class, refine & expand your obedience skills. Gain more accuracy & begin off-lead work. Learn to use body language to achieve better positioning. Build duration, out-of-site and handler motion for reliable stays. Add distractions and distance as well as duration. Perfect your distance recall.
