Mrs. Jackie Padilla is the science teacher for 7th and 8th grade. This is Jackie's first year as part of the St. Louis faculty, however she has been a member of St. Louis Parish since 2004. She has two children that attend the school, and a 3rd that is enrolled at ECDC. Jackie received her B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin in 2004. She worked in the environmental sector for 5 years before pursuing her teaching certificate. Jackie worked at Travis High School in Austin teaching Chemistry and Integrated Physics and Chemistry to 10th and 11th graders. Jackie returns to teaching this year after taking several years off to start a family. Jackie has served in many ministries at St. Louis throughout the years including Breakfast Club, Hand Bells, Children's Liturgy, and The One in the Lord Program under the Adult and Family Ministry. She could not be more thrilled to be a part of the school. Mrs. Emily Loontjer joins the St. Louis faculty as the new 5th and 6th grade Social Studies and Language Arts teacher. She grew up in Catholic schools, attending St. Pius and Incarnate Word in San Antonio. After moving to Austin, Emily earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, both in Education. She began her career in the Round Rock school district, where she taught middle school Language Arts for eleven years. This was a wonderful experience, but Emily longed for the educational environment she remembered growing up one that was centered in her Catholic faith. Working at St. Louis is truly a dream come true for her! When not at school, Emily spends time with her family and their pack of pets two dogs, two cats, and one chicken. Both of her children attend St. Louis, and her family are parishioners of the church. One of their favorite family traditions is Mexican food and movie night every Friday. Emily loves to read, and she loves sharing that joy with everyone around her.
