Living Our Faith

There are many wonderful messages in the gospel today as we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption. The messages are all centered around Mary’s trust and faith in God. Mary is the symbol and the model of the Church. She did not hesitate when she was called to serve others. She allowed God to work through her openly and consistently. Mary believed in God’s word to her and, because of that, he not only blessed her with the fullness of grace, he blessed those around her in many ways, including filling Elizabeth with the Holy Spirit so John stirred in her womb. We can tell ourselves that we’re not ‘Mary,’ which is true. But as God’s children we are all created good and all receive his blessings. Even though we are all prone to sin, we can still give him our ‘yes’ so that our sins become fewer and farther between, and his work in us and through us becomes greater and greater.

Viviendo Nuestra Fe
