Living Our Faith

Jesus continues his teaching on the true bread of life in today’s gospel. The people were still looking for physical signs and reassurances. He, instead, was leading them to spiritual signs and reassurances. They struggled with looking beyond their physical surroundings and needs. This can happen to us as well. We live in a very tangible and frenetic world that more times than not measures our value by our possessions and secular achievements. Just like the people in today’s gospel were looking for Jesus to do things in ways that were meaningful to them, we can sometimes expect God to answer our prayers in ways that are meaningful to us. God doesn’t think as we think and he doesn’t do as we do. However he does always provide for us in ways that are best for us. To recognize it, we need to follow his command: believe.

FEAST OF ASSUMPTION, AUGUST 15TH, falls on a Saturday

this year, and is consequently not a holy day of obligation. However, St. Louis is holding a solemn Marian Mass that morning (in the Main Nave) at the regularly scheduled 8:00 a.m. Mass. Everyone is invited to join us! It will be the only Mass for Assumption that day.

Viviendo Nuestra Fe
