Living Our Faith

Today’s gospel story focuses on the time after the feast of Passover. The religious obligation had been fulfilled and the faithful were returning home to their daily lives. But what did that mean? Were they changed by the Passover? Did they take with them a new understanding and desire to be closer to God? Jesus’ extending his stay in Jerusalem helps us to understand that high holy days are a part of our journey to eternal life with him…not a detour from our daily lives. As we continue through this Christmas season, have we ensured that Jesus is still in our daily thoughts and actions? Do we still marvel at the gift of his life to save ours? Or have we let the hustle and bustle of gift returns and the inevitable post-holiday bills turn our thoughts away from the joy and promise of his birth?

Viviendo Nuestra Fe
