Living Our Faith

While many focus on the great achievements of the disciples in today’s gospel, Jesus’ last words to them are far more important. It is true that they, trusting in him, took almost nothing on their travels: a walking stick, sandals, and a tunic. It is true that they were granted remarkable power to cast out demons. However, none of it would have been possible if they had not first said ‘yes’ to Jesus. He called on them and they answered. And as a result of their trust and love for him, their names were written in heaven. Jesus calls on us as well to have our names written in heaven so that we can see the wonders he has in store for us. More than earthly power and rewards… Jesus says, this is a far greater reason to rejoice. July 3, 2016

FAREWELL TO FR. DAVID TRAHAN | July 10th will be the

last weekend for Fr. David at St. Louis. He is being assigned as Pastor of Our Lady of Wisdom University Parish in San Marcos. Fr. David has been with us two years, and has been a wonderful Parochial Vicar for the parish. Please join us in wishing him well in his new assignment. There will be a dual reception on Sunday, July 10th in Wozniak Hall, following the 9:30am Mass, where we will honor Fr. David for his service with us, as well as celebrate the Ordination and First Mass of Father Payden Blevins. Please join us as we honor the religious vocations of both these men and the blessings they offer the Diocese of Austin through their devoted service!

Viviendo Nuestra Fe

Effective mid-June, our ECDC program was officially led by the ECDC Director of Program Development (Dona LeBlanc) and the ECDC Director of Operations (Margaret English-Knipp). This is going to be an exciting new chapter in our ECDC program, allowing Dona to concentrate on her long standing talents as a Program Director and will give Margaret a role that she has long prepared for as Operations Director.

A PRAYER FOR VENEZUELA | Venezuela is going through

The social and economic deterioration has produced alarming figures that show the worst human disaster in modern history. Nowadays, many Venezuelans are suffering exorbitant gaps in health, food and supplies. In the past 2 weeks, people have rioted desperate for finding food. The answer form the Government has been repression and denial of the crisis. Many have been injured by the Police and/or National Guard, and at least 5 have died in those demonstrations. As when facing any difficult situation, besides gathering medicine and supplies, the best thing we can do is Praying! On Sunday, July 10, all are welcome to participate in “A prayer for Venezuela”.
