Living Our Faith
John’s gospel story today can be said to demonstrate how God helps us to interpret what is in front of us. The tomb was empty and each of the disciples in the story was faced with a decision of what to believe. At first glance, the evidence was that his body had been taken. However, the truth emerged when the “disciple Jesus loved” looked with his heart and realized that Jesus’ body hadn’t been taken; he had truly resurrected from the dead. It is important to note that the evidence didn’t change. What changed was how the disciples understood what they saw. They looked beyond reason to their faith in God and the truth of what had happened was revealed to them. As we begin this Easter season, we have an ideal opportunity to grow as a parish by looking with our hearts as well as our eyes. Together, we can experience the wonders God has in store for each of us.

Viviendo Nuestra Fe
