Living Our Faith
The message in today’s gospel is one that highlights the importance and the benefit of being attentive and ready at all times. This means working to live the gospel to the fullest of our abilities. It means striving to love God with a pure heart and to love our neighbor more and more each day…even when we are struggling. Jesus knows we are not perfect. He knows we will stumble from time to time. Fortunately, he helps us in our journey by reminding us to remain focused on him (his words) and not on worldly things. As we go about our daily responsibilities and challenges, if we work to keep Jesus as the center of our lives and remain truly grateful for his love and mercy, our individual journey and our journey together as church become easier to make. If we are willing to make this journey, Jesus promises that he will gather us to him.

Online gifts can be made at: st-louis.weshareonline.org THE 12TH ANNUAL FEAST OF GIVING will
be held Thanksgiving Day, November 26th, in Wozniak Hall from 11:00am – 2:00pm. In the November newsletter, check out the ways you can help us serve the 800 individuals that will attend this dinner that day. Volunteers must pre-register in advance by going to http:// ow.ly/U8Lxb (Note: the link is case sensitive). We are so grateful for your willingness to help, but unexpected walk-in volunteers add to the chaos of trying to serve hundreds in a brief three-hour period. Please assist us by telling us in advance that you will be there to help!
Viviendo Nuestra Fe

HANDS OF MERCY is the theme for this year’s annual
Catholic Services Appeal for the Diocese of Austin. Your donation to the CSA is a powerful witness of God’s love. By contributing, you are helping those in need, promoting a culture of life, supporting religious vocations, reaching out to youth in campus ministries/youth programs, and bringing people to God through spirituality and worship. Please prayerfully consider what you might give to assist this important work of the Church of Central Texas. Look for CSA envelopes in the tract racks or visit www.austindiocese.org/csa FUN FEST 2015 | St. Louis Catholic School
will hold its annual Fun Fest on November 22nd from 11am to 4pm on parish grounds. We postponed it from the original date due to weather, but we are ready to enjoy the festivities in November. Fun Fest provides a day of fun for the entire family. All parishioners and friends are welcome. Come join us for food, games, a Silent Auction, a Country Store and entertainment. The raffle drawing will be held at 2:30pm on the main stage during the event. Please contact Lisa Martin (lisalavie@gmail.com, 512-650-0144) or Billie Buchert (billiejeanbuchert@gmail.com, 512-587-2235) for more information. SLCS relies on the generous support of all parishioners; come join the fun! CATHOLIC CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT will be the weekend of November 21-
22. This national collection has an envelope in your envelope sets and we ask that you place that envelope in the regular collection that weekend. Each diocese keeps 25% of the funds raised for local human development programs. All funds are designated to address the root causes of poverty by promoting community-controlled, self-help organizations and ongoing education. FAMILY ROSARY NIGHT AND POTLUCK | Join our rosary night
Saturday, November 21, at 6 p.m. in the PEC basement. All parishioners are welcome - young, old, married, single, toddlers, and teens. Bring a dinner dish to share. We will gather at 6:00 p.m. and begin with the rosary at 6:20 p.m. followed by dinner and fellowship. For more information, please contact sharon.gretencord@gmail.com "Praying the rosary together, as a family, is very beautiful and a source of great strength!" - Pope Francis 3
THANKSGIVING MASS | The only Mass to be held
on Thanksgiving Day will be at 9:30 a.m. You are welcome to bring canned goods and non-perishable food items for the Food Pantry. Please join us in thanksgiving for the countless blessings we have received. There will be no 7:00 a.m. or 6:00 p.m. Masses on this national holiday. Regular Mass schedules resume the following day. CHURCH OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED on Wednesday,
November 25th at Noon, and Thursday - Friday, November 26-27 for the Thanksgiving holidays. St. Louis School and the Early Childhood Development Center will be on holiday Wednesday through Friday, November 25-27. All offices and classes resume as usual on Monday, November 30th. TURKEY BINGO CANCELLED | In past years, we’ve been
able to have Turkey Bingo, using the same state bingo license used for Fun Fest (during the same quarter). Unfortunately, the Bingo license obtained this year for Fun Fest was for one event on October 25th. Application for a new bingo license must be made within 30 business days of the event date, no exceptions. Since the 30-day deadline has been missed this year, there will be no bingo associated with either the rescheduled Fun Fest on November 22nd or for the Turkey Bingo on November 21st. Turkey Bingo has been cancelled for 2015. KC LADIES AUXILIARY will hold their next meeting on
Monday, November 23 at 7:00pm in Wozniak Hall. Their speaker will be someone from Swan Song, a group that sings to the terminally ill. Remember, if you are a wife, widow, mother, sister, or sweetheart of a Knight, you are eligible to join and enjoy our sisterhood. Should you have any questions, or need a ride, please call Hope Debo (512) 458-6971 or Betsy Sansom (512) 350-4634. LANDMARK ANNIVERSARIES celebrated during 2015
will be recognized with certificates signed by Bishop Joe Vasquez and presented on Holy Family Sunday. In 2015, if you and your spouse celebrated 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 60 years or more in a Church approved marriage, we want to honor you for your faithfulness to the Sacrament of Marriage. You may choose to pick up your certificate at the Church Office rather than attend a specific Mass. Watch bulletins for more information. Please turn in your names and contact information, along with the landmark anniversary you shared this year, no later than December 15, by emailing bulletin@stlouis.org or calling Evelyn at 512-454-0384 x 209.

The Heart of St. Louis
ANNUAL APPEAL St. Louis Catholic School is committed to providing a quality, affordable Catholic education for students in and around the Austin area. Providing a quality program, however, results in a difference between what is paid in tuition and the actual cost to educate each child. Thankfully for decades St. Louis Catholic School has been faithfully supported by the good people of this parish and countless others who have given precious resources to ensure that we continue this tradition. Please look for the Heart of St. Louis Annual Appeal brochures and envelopes in the Church. You are invited to give a one-time gift or to pledge your ongoing support to help our amazing school strengthen the Heart of Christ, in the Heart of Austin. The Annual Appeal is your opportunity to join in the mission of St. Louis Catholic School, as we prepare the leaders of tomorrow with the light of Christ as their guide.

ADVENT LESSONS AND CAROLS | On Monday,
November 30th at 7:00 pm, there will be a Service of Advent Lessons and Carols in the main church. If you’re familiar with our Lessons and Carols which precedes Midnight Mass, then you will love this service, in which the readings and the music follow a similar format, but touch on themes of Advent rather than Christmas. The service will last about 1 hour, and presents you with a prayerful way to commence the Advent season. CONCERT OF CZECH MUSIC | The University Choir
from UNT will present a concert of music by Czech composers, on Tuesday, December 1st at 7:00 pm in the chapel. This promises to be a really interesting event. Czech composers are generally under-represented in concerts, and they have produced some of the most beautiful music. A special feature will be the Christmas Mass setting by Jakub Jan Ryba (17651815). Be sure and get this on your calendar. Admission is free. ADVENT ORGAN CONCERTS | The Advent Organ
Concert series is a long-standing and beloved musical tradition at St. Louis Parish, continuing this year with a couple of outstanding performances in store for you: •
Tuesday, December 1st: Chris Oelkers, organ, and Robert Laguna, trumpet.
•
Tuesday, December 15th: Storm Knien, organ (Director of Music at St. Albert Parish).
The concerts take place at 12:00 noon in the main church and are free. A nice hot lunch may be had in the parish hall afterward, for $7.00.
